"There, I found others who wanted to watch the films I wanted to watch." Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for a documentary film titled Yellow Door: 90s Lo-fi Film Club from Korea. It's premiering soon at the 2023 Busan Film Festival in Korea, and will be available to watch worldwide on Netflix starting later in October. It reminds me of the doc Shirkers, but it's an entirely different story, about young filmmakers in Korea. "I don't think I've ever been as passionate about films as I was then." –Bong. Before the renaissance of Korean cinema today, there was the film club, Yellow Door. Thirty years later, the story behind director Bong Joon-ho's first short film and Korea's first cinephile generation. The film revisits the era of avid film lovers who became the first generation of Korean cinephiles by tracking the memories of "Yellow Door Film Club" members - who gather again (over a Zoom) years later to reconnect.
