Connecting with Artist Paul Klee in Doc 'Angel Applicant' Official Trailer
"They are testaments that destruction can feed creation." Grasshopper Film already released this film and it seems like it's worth watching. This new trailer appeared online and it's our first time posting about it. Angel Applicant is an autobiographical documentary film made by filmmaker Ken August Meyer. It first premiered back in 2023 at the SXSW Film Festival where it won Audience Award for Best Doc Film then. Paul Klee, a Swiss-German painter, fled Germany in 1933 when he and other modern artists were vilified by the rising Nazi Party. Isolated in Switzerland, a mysterious disease began wreaking havoc on his body & profoundly changing his artwork. Director Ken August Meyer explores Klee's expressive last works after also being diagnosed with the same fatal disease, systemic scleroderma. He discovers empathetic wisdom on how to cope with his own challenges within Klee's colorful paintings. Klee passed away in 1940 just at the start of WWII. It's strange this film hasn't been shown much since premiering in 2023 because it looks quite good. Especially because he takes the time go visit Switzerland exploring the mountains and Klee's gallery in Bern. // Continue Reading ›

New Trailer for Animated Film 'Decorado' - Trippy Existential Journey
"What exactly are you searching for?" GKids has debuted a second official trailer for the US release of the animated film Decorado (you can view the first trailer). The third feature directed by Spanish animation filmmaker Alberto Vázquez, Decorado played at Fantastic Fest, Sitges, London, Tokyo, & other film festivals last fall. Now hitting US theaters starting this May – and it looks like a doozy! Another one to watch out for this summer. The story follows Arnold, a mouse in midlife crisis, who sees his world as artificial theater set. As personal troubles mount, his suspicion of living in a fake reality leads him to search for what's authentic. Adapted from the acclaimed 2016 short film (which we posted) also by director Alberto Vázquez (Birdoby, Unicorn Wars), Decorado blends biting humor with haunting beauty in a darkly comedic odyssey through our era of social control, manufactured realities, and the quest for authentic human connection. The English dub version has the voices of David Goldstein as Arnold, Marissa Parness as MarÃa, Brian Maillard as Duck Roni. I like how trippy & wild this story gets in all the footage at the end of the trailer below. Enjoy. // Continue Reading ›
