Official Trailer for Li Liming's 'Ip Man: Kung Fu Legend' Action Movie

Ip Man: Kung Fu Legend Trailer
"If the world is unfair, let our firsts bring justice." If only it worked like that... Well Go USA has revealed the official trailer for an martial arts action movie called Ip Man: Kung Fu Legend, the latest in the never-ending Ip Man franchise. Originally started by Donnie Yen in a series of Ip Man movies from 2008 and the 2010s, this franchise continues on with Dennis To starring as the titular Wing Chun icon (who was famously Bruce Lee's mentor). In 1950s Hong Kong, Ip Man leaves the police force to start his martial arts school. When a Western boxing gym acquires all local martial arts properties, he must protect the tradition from destruction and his way from being wiped out. This new movie stars Dennis To, Wang Wanzhong, Zhang Tingfei, Zhao Jingshuyu, Zhang Jie, Wu Xinzun, Tong Xiaohu, Zhou Xiofei, plus Steven Dasz and Li Yaojing. There is also another sequel to this, titled Ip Man: Kung Fu Legacy (not Legend), currently in production aiming for release in 2027 as the next follow-up. Looks like a badass fighting-for-the-people Ip Man movie to enjoy. Arriving on VOD starting in July this summer to watch at home anytime. // Continue Reading ›

First Look Teaser for 'The Fox' Zany Romance Satire with Jai Courntey

The Fox Teaser Trailer
"All I ask for, is a roof over my head and to not get shot at! It's actually a very good deal." Madman Films in Australia has unveiled the first teaser trailer for The Fox, an intriguing romantic satire from filmmaker Dario Russo (director of the "Danger 5" series). This indie comedy flick is described as an "absurdly comic Australian folktale" and it's playing at the 2026 Sydney Film Festival this June coming up soon. It originally premiered at SXSW last year but we haven't heard much about it since then. Dealing with a cheating fiancée, an affable fox hunter encounters a shape-shifting fox who then offers him an opportunity to transform his partner into the perfect woman and in doing so take control of the natural world. Jai Courtney and Emily Browning star as the main couple, alongside Olivia Colman as a talking fox and Sam Neill as a magpie. The fun cast also includes Damon Herriman, Claudia Doumit, Zlatko Burić, Frankie J. Holden, Heather Mitchell, and Kim Gyngell. Obviously similar to both The Lobster and Ruby Sparks, which also have fantastical romantic comedy concepts that explore attraction & relationships and how funky it can be at times. All the comedy looks totally zany and off-the-walls bonkers, which makes this seem like a fun time. // Continue Reading ›

Cannes 2026: Na Hong-jin's 'Hope' is the Best AND Worst of Sci-Fi

Hope
File this one under "WTF did I just watch?!" One of the most completely bonkers films to ever premiere at the Cannes Film Festival dropped midway through the 2026 edition. Cannes decided to premiere Hope, the latest by acclaimed Korean genre filmmaker Na Hong-jin, his fourth film so far, in the Main Competition at the prestigious festival (where it was competing for the Palme d'Or but it didn't win anything). The issue is that the movie is a full-on, hard sci-fi, totally wacky, extra fun, exceptionally strange, beguiling mess. This evening press screening at the Debussy Theatre at Cannes is one of those nights I'll never forget. An entirely packed house with a completely riled up audience went wild went it started. And then things got weird... By the end there was such a loud mix of booing and cheering it was hard to tell which one was more prominent. One thing is for sure – there is both love and hate for this movie. And it deserves both condemnation and praise. It's the best and worst of modern sci-fi packed into a massive 2 hour & 40 minute epic adventure. I'm stuck somewhere in the middle. The more I think about it, there's no way I can hate it. But I am also just as disappointed as many of my colleagues. It's building up to something spectacular then crashes into a ravine. // Continue Reading ›

Official Trailer for Experimental Doc 'Bouchra' About a Jackal in NYC

Bouchra Trailer
"Why all these years we were silent?" Film Movement has revealed an official trailer for an experimental documentary crossed with an animated film titled Bouchra, a meta creation featuring a "queer Moroccan jackal" as the main character. This first premiered at the 2025 Toronto & New York Film Festivals last fall, picking up some good reviews. The pitch: Moroccan filmmaker Bouchra is writing an autobiographical film that reflexively weaves together her own life in New York City with that of her fictional double. Bouchra happens also to be a coyote in a city of anthropomorphic creatures, rendered in nearly photorealistic and hyper-expressive animations. That sounds pretty cool so far. The festival adds: "With a lived-in granularity and unmistakable visual style, Bouchra, the feature debut from acclaimed visual artists Meriem Bennani & Orian Barki is a singular portrait effortlessly towing the line between documentary, visual art and resonant family drama. Deeply felt, surprisingly sexy and formally adventurous, Bennani & Barki's distinctive debut forges new ground." This looks like a very intriguing creation for die-hard cinephiles to dig into. A bit too experimental for my tastes, retelling her own story of how hard it is to create art while being an immigrant. // Continue Reading ›

Cannes 2026 Awards: Mungiu Wins His Second Palme d'Or for 'Fjord'

Cannes 2026 Winners
Winners of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival awards, including the coveted Palme d'Or, were revealed at a glamorous ceremony in Cannes, France this weekend. The awards this year were again entirely surprising and a bit strange, with many films both loved and hated winning awards and the jury picking a few that no one thought would get much. The top prize Palme d'Or went to Romanian filmmaker Cristian Mungiu and his latest film titled Fjord set in Norway. This is actually Mungiu's second Palme d'Or in Cannes history - he won once before for his abortion film 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days in 2007 (19 years ago). This win has caused quite a stir among critics - many love the film, while many others dislike it, and there's a big debate about what it means + what Mungiu is saying (and if that's good or bad). Other major winners include the Russian film Minotaur getting the Grand Prix second place (instead of the Palme), Lukas Dhont's Coward getting Best Actor for both of its lead actors, and Hamaguchi's All of a Sudden getting Best Actress for both of its lead actresses (who are both phenomenal in this film). Whether or not the winners are what you would pick if you were on the jury, these wins are causing quite the commotion and hopefully this will bring more attention to international cinema. A fascinating mix of my top films and some of my least favorites winning. // Continue Reading ›

Cannes 2026: 'Fatherland' is a Mirror to Our Own Morally Bankrupt Era

Fatherland Review
After a 7-year hiatus, Paweł Pawlikowski — one of the most prominent Polish filmmakers working today — returns to the Cannes Film Festival with a concise drama that elegantly caps off his unofficial black-and-white trilogy. He began this thematic journey with Ida (2013), a haunting exploration of a young Polish nun unearthing her family's Holocaust tragedy; then continued with Cold War (2018 - also at the Cannes Film Festival), charting a doomed romance across the fractured landscape of post-war Poland. Now, Pawlikowski steps back into the ashes of mid-century Europe with Fatherland, concluding a study of historical trauma with a wonderfully restrained, politically charged narrative. Set in 1949 against the backdrop of the newly partitioned Germany, the film follows Nobel laureate Thomas Mann (played by Hanns Zischler) as he is invited to receive the Goethe Prize: first in American-occupied Frankfurt, then in Soviet-controlled Weimar. Accompanying him as his personal assistant is his daughter, Erika (Sandra Hüller). Having fled the Nazi regime for the US in 1933, the trip marks the author's long-awaited return to his homeland after 16 years. // Continue Reading ›

Official Trailer for Questlove's 'Earth, Wind & Fire' Music History Doc

Earth, Wind & Fire Doc Trailer
"They've embraced that music could have a higher purpose." HBO Max has unveiled the official trailer for the music history doc titled Earth, Wind & Fire, the next electrical creation from music doc mastermind Questlove. The full title is the much more cosmic Earth, Wind & Fire: To Be Celestial vs. That's the Weight of the World and this will be out to watch on HBO Max streaming in June in the summer. Get ready to get groovy. Acclaimed producer / director / musician Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson tells the story of the legendary nine-time Grammy Award-winning band Earth, Wind & Fire, tracing their genesis through late founding member Maurice White, chronicling their evolution, highs and lows, and relevance from the 1970s into the present day while exploring the deep philosophical and spiritual meaning behind their message and music. A loving celebration of a complex artist, the enduring legacy of an iconic sound that spans decades, and a joyful tribute to the band’s far-reaching cultural impact. Featuring band members Philip Bailey, Verdine White, and Ralph Johnson are joined by musicians, managers, authors, former band members, and family members, as well as notables the band has influenced, including President Barack Obama, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, H.E.R., and Flea. This looks super trippy & extra fun - worth a watch. // Continue Reading ›

Epic Full Trailer for Live-Action 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' - Season 2

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Season 2 Trailer
"We've already won... the question is – how much are you willing to lose." Netflix unveiled the full official trailer for the next epic season in their live-action version of this animation classic - Avatar: The Last Airbender. The first season kicked off in 2024, re-introducing Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Zuko, but it wasn't the best take on this story and didn't end up with great reviews. Season 2 is done & ready to launch in June this summer anyway! Because there's more to come - especially with fan-favorite character Toph joining them on their adventures. In this next season of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix, the Gaang has noticeably grown up since Season 1. After a bittersweet victory helping save the Northern Water Tribe from the invading Fire Nation, Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio), Sokka (Ian Ousley) regroup and set off on a mission to convince the elusive Earth King to aid in their battle against fearsome Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim). The full cast also features Miya Cech as Toph, Dallas Liu, Elizabeth Yu, Ty Lee, Maria Zhang, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee. There's much better footage in this trailer and it looks like a big improvement over the first season. With some solid earth-bending action as the stories continues into Ba Sing Se and Fire Benders getting more aggressive. Is anyone still watching this? Ready for more? 🔥 // Continue Reading ›

Cannes 2026: Lukas Dhont's 'Coward' is a Riveting WWI Love Story

Coward Review
"Love not war." Who are the real cowards of war? Is it the soldiers? Is it the men who get too scared to fight and run away because they want to live? Or is it the generals and the captains and all the warlords dictating orders from a safe distance? Or is it the politicians sending their citizens to death? It doesn't matter who is labeled a "coward" and why – these soldiers don't deserve to go off to war and die. They deserve to live. And we should always be fighting for love not war – no matter the situation, no matter the battle being fought. I am pleased to report that the new film made by Belgian director Lukas Dhont is sensational. Coward is his third feature film so far and it's magnificent, showing us how love matters more than anything else on this planet. The film is Dhont's most ambitious creation yet, taking us into the trenches of World War I to tell a tender, heartfelt love story between two Belgian soldiers. Another enchanting film by Dhont featuring all of his earmarks – stunning cinematography, a wonderful score, and such majestic performances from the entire cast. Gay cinema reigns! I fell for this film and got swept away by its 2 hour journey into hell & back. // Continue Reading ›

First Look Teaser for Horror 'Victorian Psycho' Starring Maika Monroe

Victorian Psycho Trailer
"Can you feel it rolling around inside you – squeezing, squeezing hard." Bleecker Street has revealed their first look teaser trailer for Victorian Psycho, a kick ass horror comedy thriller from filmmaker Zachary Wigon arriving to watch in theaters this fall. The film premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival today (I saw it there - and it's fantastic!) which is why this teaser is dropping at the exact same time. An entertaining spin on American Psycho but set in Victorian times. In 1858, an eccentric young governess, Winifred Notty, arrives at the remote gothic manor Ensor House. As Winifred assimilates and begins her job, staff begin to inexplicably disappear, and the owners wonder if something is amiss with this new arrival... These strange happenings stir suspicion that Ms. Notty not what she seems. Starring Maika Monroe as Winifred Notty, along with a tremendous cast: Jason Isaacs, Thomasin McKenzie, Ruth Wilson, Evie Templeton, Jacobi Jupe, Amy De Bhrún, Paul Reid, and Katherine Moran. Trailer for Peculiar Grief Film 'Miss You, Love You' with Allison Janney

Miss You, Love You Trailer
"I am his mother!" "Well then fight like one!" HBO has unveiled the trailer for a grief film titled Miss You, Love You, an awkward dark comedy with plenty of emotional drama. This film is releasing for streaming starting at the end of May for anyone to watch on HBO Max if you're curious. Miss You, Love You is written and directed by comedy actor Jim Rash, his latest since directing Downhill a few years ago. A widow plans her husband's funeral. Her estranged son sends assistant instead of coming himself. She ends up bonding with him instead. As they fumble through grief & their strange, darkly funny circumstances, buried secrets & long-held resentments surface, but their partnership becomes an unlikely conduit for connection, laughter, healing for this mom and her new "surrogate son". Starring Allison Janney as Diane Patterson, Andrew Rannells as Jamie Simms, with Bonnie Hunt, Suzy Nakamura, Oscar Nuñez, & Lisa Schurga. This actually looks really good - plenty of heated arguments that ultimately seem necessary despite their veracity. // Continue Reading ›

John Cena & Eric Andre in Zany Comedy 'Little Brother' Official Trailer

Little Brother Trailer
"What happened to the guy I married who said the only thing matters is family...?" Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a movie called Little Brother, another ridiculously fun new comedy coming out soon to watch. From the same filmmaker behind Ingrid Goes West and the series "Angelyne" comes a story of two... brothers? A famous real estate agent's carefully curated world is upended when his eccentric "little brother" unexpectedly reappears and starts to ruin his life & everything in it. The two long-lost brothers reunite on Netflix starting June 26th. Remember to keep your family close, though maybe not too close. Little Brother stars John Cena and Eric Andre as the brothers Rudd and Marcus, along with Michelle Monaghan, Christopher Meloni, Sherry Cola, Ego Nwodim, Caleb Hearon, Ben Ahlers, Bryce Gheisar, and Pilot Bunch. This looks extra dumb but still pretty funny – especially Cena's live delivery every single time. // Continue Reading ›

Cannes 2026: 'Minotaur' is a Brilliant Look at Modern World Moral Rot

Minotaur Review
Whether you like it or not, we live in perilous times. But it still seems hard to talk about this, to talk about what's broken, what's happening to humanity, what's going on all over the world, how rotten it has become. The easiest way to exist peacefully is to shut up, conform to the new rules, do what you're told, don't cause any trouble, and just stay in line. And this is what leads us even deeper into the depths of Hell. One of the best films at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival dares to tell an unflinching story about this pervasive moral rot and challenges us to observe how easy it is to lose all your humanity in order to hold on to money & power. Minotaur is the sixth feature film by acclaimed Russian filmmaker Andrey Zvyagintsev and it might be his best yet. This hit me hard and I haven't stop analyzing it, making sense of it, processing its immensity in the hours since emerging from my screening. Extraordinarily powerful, stomach churning, of-the-moment cinema featuring Tarkovsky-inspired visual intricacy in every shot. Minotaur is a brilliant film about what's happening Russia – while also a story of what's happening everywhere around the world if you look closely. // Continue Reading ›

"When does a match start? When does it end?" ⚽ Disney has revealed the official trailer for a documentary film titled The Match, an emotional look back at the iconic 1986 World Cup game. This just premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival this month playing in the Cannes Premiere section - it's rare they ever show docs at this fest meaning this is definitely worth a look. Beyond the Hand of God lies a deeper story... About the 1986 Argentina-England World Cup quarter final, exploring how it became a culmination of tensions between the two nations following the 1982 Falklands War. From directors Juan Cabral & Santiago Franco, narrated by Gary Lineker & Jorge Valdano, The Match tells the story of the iconic 1986 Football World Cup clash between Argentina & England at the Azteca Stadium. Using rare archival footage, including Maradona's controversial "Hand of God", the doc film reconstructs the match as a living memory, after more than 200 years of tension, encounters, and conflict between the two nations. Cannes 2026: Superb Adèle Exarchopoulos in Alcoholism Film 'Garance'

Garance Review
There's nothing wrong a good film offering an uncomplicated narrative look at how someone can get better from being unhealthy or being addicted to something harmful. Not every film needs to be overly complex and nuanced, sometimes a good story with some cliche scenes can actually have an impact. Some viewers need this. Maybe not you or I, but that doesn't matter, because I can appreciate the film and how it works as a beneficial story anyway. That's the case with this Cannes Competition premiere titled Garance, a French drama from filmmaker Jeanne Herry following the story of an alcoholic woman living in Paris who refuses to accept that she must stop drinking. The English title for it is Another Day – a more thematic reference. Whereas the original French title Garance is also the name of the main character so it doesn't even need to be translated anyway. What I enjoy the most about Garance is the upbeat, energetic flow to the film, zipping from scene to scene like a dancer full of energy giving her most passionate performance. There's some great music and an electro score to it that also keep it moving at a fast pace, which is important because it covers years of time in Garance's life as she finally comes to understand her love of alcohol is a dangerous problem. // Continue Reading ›

Cannes 2026: 'La Perra' is a Chilean Dog Movie Distracted by Grief

La Perra Review
I'm always on the lookout for dog movies. I will watch each and every one of them. But that also means they better not do anything off-putting or annoying or upsetting. If a dog character is important to the plot in a film, the filmmakers better handle this story (and the dog/all the dogs) with care and concern. Or it will ruin the film. On one hand, this Chilean film is quite beautiful and entrancing. On the other, it's bogged down by an annoying subplot about grief that overwhelms the film and sends it to a frustrating finale. La Perra is the latest feature from Chilean filmmaker Dominga Sotomayor – it's premiering at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival in the Directors' Fortnight sidebar at the fest. It's a ravishing cinematic experience – the powerful sound design and astonishing cinematography make it worthwhile to watch on the big screen, which is the proper way to view it. However, the narrative gets bogged down by choices related to this grief theme in the story, and it waters down the otherwise beautiful tale of a woman bonding with a dog on an island. I enjoyed most of, but not the ending... Though I still think it's worth recommending to other adventurous cinephiles. // Continue Reading ›

Sophie Thatcher in Refn's New Neon Thriller 'Her Private Hell' Teaser

Her Private Hell Teaser
"I am made of stardust... The moment you forget that, is the moment you disappear..." Um sure, okay? Neon has revealed the first look teaser trailer for the brand new neon-drench Nicolas Winding Refn film titled Her Private Hell – his first feature film in 10 years since he last made The Neon Demon. This just premiered today at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival in France, playing in the Midnight section, and not in the main competition which might be a sign this isn't going to be anything truly great (early reviews are pretty harsh). Set in a a multi-realm, neon-drenched metropolis, Her Private Hell is a pulsating dreamscape that feels torn from science fiction yet suspended between seduction & violence. When a mysterious mist engulfs a futuristic metropolis, unleashing a deadly and elusive entity, a troubled young woman searches for her father. The film stars Sophie Thatcher, Charles Melton, Kristine Froseth, Havana Rose Liu, and Diego Calva and evokes Refn's unmistakable aesthetic. Not a ton of footage to see yet in this teaser, but it defintiely does give you a taste of all the young girls and the return of Refn's neon style all over again. Enjoy. // Continue Reading ›

Watch: Christopher Nolan's 60 Minutes Interview About 'The Odyssey'

Christopher Nolan's 60 Minutes Interview

Tune in and enjoy this interview! Last night on the iconic interview series 60 Minutes, they did a big segment on filmmaker Christopher Nolan. It's part of promotion for The Odyssey (watch the epic trailer), but it's also just an exciting and enjoyable inside look at Nolan and his filmmaking choices. Nolan is known for not giving many interviews and being very closed off about his life. But this time we finally get a full-on 60 Minutes chat and an examination of his filmmaking ideas and what makes him tick. I actually wish we could watch the full uncut 60+ minute long interview with Nolan, I'd love to hear all of his answers to every question. There's some good moments in this interview, but I want even more! As much as Nolan has a reputation for being coy and private, he really seems like a very fun and very smart guy that actually loves to geek out about movies. Crazy Epic Teaser for Na Hong-jin's 'Hope' Sci-Fi Alien Action Film

Hope Sci-Fi Teaser
"It's coming for us!" This just premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival hours ago playing in the prestigious Main Competition in France. I just came out of seeing it and it's bonkers, though I've got to say it's very strange to be playing at Cannes, it's much more of a midnight special than a slick Cannes premiere. A mysterious discovery is made on the outskirts of a remote harbor town when a monster suddenly attacks. The residents find themselves in a desperate fight for survival against something they've never encountered before – alien creatures that have crashed nearby... This teaser already reveals tons of surprising footage, including a quick look at the aliens themselves. The cast includes Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, plus appearances by Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender. Cannes 2026: 'Flesh and Fuel' - This Gay Trucker Romance is a Joy

Flesh and Fuel
Who would've thought that a truck drivers gay romance film would end up being one of my favorites at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival? You never know which films will be any good until see them and they win you over. At last year's Cannes, Norwegian director Joachim Trier (director of Sentimental Value) proclaimed that "tenderness is the new punk." This slogan took off big time and cinema lovers the world over have been repeating it as a reminder that being tender and earnest and vulnerable and loving is actually a (really) good thing. And we need more cinema that is tender and embraces tenderness instead of all the ugliness out there right now. Flesh and Fuel is a beautiful new film that continues this "tenderness" trend and carries that humble belief into 2026 in the best of ways. Made by French filmmaker Pierre Le Gall, it's the story of two middle-aged truck drivers who fall in love on the road but struggle to keep their romance going as they drive around Europe far away from each other. So sweet and adorable and heartfelt – feel good cinema at its best. // Continue Reading ›

Cannes 2026: Jordan Firstman's 'Club Kid' Film is a Delightful Surprise

Club Kid Review
DJ Night Shift is taking the world by storm! One of the many surprises at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival is this delightful discovery playing in the Un Certain Regard section. Club Kid is the feature directorial debut of actor / filmmaker Jordan Firstman, and it's such a fantastic story of growing up in the big city. It plays a bit like Mike Mills' C'mon C'mon (a highly underrated film) but with way more cocaine & clubbing. I don't want that comparison to be awkward, because both films are amazing and both are about these shaggy guys spending time connecting with a young kid and learning from him. Club Kid really hit the sweet spot. It's a totally adorable and funny and uplifting tale of growing up. Infused with an authenticity and honesty that few films ever capture so effortlessly. Firstman wrote and directed and stars in this and, whether or not it's his own personal story doesn't matter, it's just a damn good film that is moving in its earnestness. It left me feeling so emotionally happy because not only is the film itself terrific but it's once again a potent reminder that as flawed as we all are, we're all capable of loving & being loved. And love really can move mountains. // Continue Reading ›

Cannes 2026: Hamaguchi's 'All of a Sudden' is a Soulful Masterpiece

All of a Sudden Review
Is anyone truly normal? Aren't we all flawed? How do we evolve humanity knowing this truth? Can a bit of compassion save us? These are a few of the philosophical questions introduced in this phenomenal film. Walking out of my afternoon screening of this sublime film at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, I couldn't stop talking about it. Shaking with energy and excitement, I just blurted out sentence after sentence, word after word, about why it's so utterly masterful and beautiful and soulful and enchanting. Ryûsuke Hamaguchi's new film All of a Sudden is a bona fide Masterpiece. Filmed mostly in Paris, it's Hamaguchi stepping out of his usual Japanese setting to tell his most masterful story yet – a profound look at humanity and how we must grow & how art can help us evolve. It's one of the most deeply soulful, philosophically mesmerizing, profoundly humanistic, exceptionally heartfelt films I have EVER seen. It's not only one of my favorite films of the year, it's instantly one of my personal favorites films of all-time. Hyperbolic as it may be to say that just after emerging from a screening, the film itself reminded me to always trust my heart, to express myself fully and clearly, and to be honest if I encounter any kind of art that is truly this moving and this impactful. // Continue Reading ›

Cannes 2026: Leah Nelson's 'Tangles' Film is an Animation Sensation

Tangles Review
"Animation is cinema. Animation is not a genre for kids. It's a medium for art, it's a medium for film." –Guillermo del Toro. This animated film from the 2026 Cannes Film Festival is one of the highlights of 2026 so far when it comes to animation. Tangles is the feature directorial debut from up-and-coming filmmaker Leah Nelson, adapting a graphic novel by Sarah Leavitt. Her book is subtitled "A Story About Alzheimer’s, My Mother and Me" – it's an autobiographical tale of her experiences with a mother whose memory begins to degrade. Leah Nelson & her team took this story and turned it into an absolutely beautiful animated film, embracing the same B&W style from the graphic novel. Tangles is a B&W film with a few glimmers of color that pop up throughout. It's an emotionally devastating, unashamedly compassionate, brutally honest look at Alzheimer's disease and how hard it is for other family members to deal with when it gets worse. Yet it's also an emotionally invigorating and especially touching story in the way it's so open about vulnerability and hardship. Tangles is a singular animation creation that should connect with audiences all around the world. // Continue Reading ›

David Morse in Modern Western Texas Drama 'Broken Land' Trailer

Broken Land Trailer
"I can't let her go back to that country..." Well Go USA has revealed an official trailer for Broken Land, a Texas thriller marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker J.T. Walker. This originally premiered at the 2025 Florida Film Festival last year and will be out to watch right on VOD starting in June this summer. A modern-day Western that follows a reclusive rancher whose life changes when an injured, pregnant young migrant takes refuge on his land. David Morse stars as Carson Tidwell, who wants nothing more than to be left alone on his rural Texas ranch. When he accidentally shoots a pregnant migrant worker crossing his land, he feels compelled to protect her from his estranged Border Patrol agent son. As she recovers, a bond forms that ultimately heals them both. Also starring newcomer Jaklyn Bejarano and Bill Heck. Not the first story like this – there have been plenty of migrants in Texas stories in many films. But I'm glad this one seems to have some empathy and taking the right stance in defending her despite the situation. Take a look. // Continue Reading ›

Funny Teaser for Will Ferrell's 'The Hawk' Pro Golfer Comedy Series

The Hawk Teaser Trailer
"The old man's coming for ya!" "I would crush you, dad. Golf is easy!" Netflix has debuted their first real teaser trailer for the new Will Ferrell comedy series about golfing called just The Hawk. This 10 episode sports comedy series is actually Ferrell's first television comedy (we also posted a first look back in March). A follow-up to Adam Sandler's golf comeback Happy Gilmore 2 last year? Though this is really starting to look like an extended SNL sketch. One of the greatest names in golf history (that you’re somehow only just hearing about), American hero Lonnie "The Hawk" Hawkins is Will Ferrell's newest original character. Get ready fore the return of an icon – on Netflix streaming this July. The series follows "The Hawk", 2004's top golfer, as he struggles to recapture his magic late in his career, refusing to believe he's anything other than one stroke away from golf's greatest return. Also starring Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, and David Hornsby. It looks like it should be funny enough for some summer laughs – hoping it isn't just another repeat of Happy Gilmore. Fire it up. // Continue Reading ›

Ocean's Eleven Trailer
"It'll be nice working with proper villains again." Fathom Entertainment has unveiled a brand new trailer for the 2001 classic Ocean's Eleven, Soderbergh's heist comedy masterpiece. It's a remake of the original 1960 heist movie and hit theaters in 2001 - the movie is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year. It's one of my all-time favorites and was a huge hit at the box office opening in late 2001 and playing into early 2002. Fathom is giving it a special re-release for two nights only this summer, on June 21st & June 24th, and tickets are already on sale for screenings at your local movie theater. A thief and his team of associates plan a sophisticated heist to rob three Las Vegas casinos at the same time. One of the best Las Vegas movies ever made. This special 25th anniversary release includes exclusive insight from Leonard Maltin. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, Ocean's Eleven stars George Clooney, Matt Damon, Andy García, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, Elliott Gould, Bernie Mac, Carl Reiner, Qin Shaobo, and Eddie Jemison. The fate of Carmen, a rebellious soul, lies in their hands if they can help save her. Set in Andalusia, Spain in 1840. Returning to Seville after three years far away, 13-year-old Salva meets Carmen, a 20-year-old gypsy with a fascinating voice. Official Trailer for 'Animals in War' Ukrainian Film Featuring Sean Penn

Animals of War Film Trailer
"Did you see a cat run by?" 🇺🇦 Omnibus Entertainment & Film Movement have debuted the official trailer for an indie anthology feature called Animals in War, a sad look at how war harms animals of all kinds. This is not really a documentary, but more of a feature containing many segments of short films written & directed by Ukrainian filmmakers. Of course, Sean Penn is involved and stars in one of the films. It first premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival last year and opens on VOD in June to watch at home. Tribeca's intro explainsmore about it: "the film serves as a haunting yet deeply moving call for global awareness and empathy. Featuring a white rabbit, a wolf, a cow and other animals as central figures of each story, the film employs a range of artistic styles to explore the war's often overlooked ecological impact. Through these powerful vignettes, this film is a compelling work that highlights the widespread devastation wrought by the conflict and issues an urgent plea for compassion, reflection and action." Watch: 'Ozu in Color' Video Essay - About Yasujiro Ozu's Use of Color

Ozu in Color Video Essay
"Life is an unknown course. The only constant is change." 🎥 How does a black & white filmmaker shift into color and what choices does he make with color in his films? These are the key questions at the core of the mesmerizing and inspiring new video essay created by Every Frame a Painting. Created & edited by Tony Zhou and Taylor Ramos, this new video essay is titled Ozu in Color and it examines the work of prolific Japanese filmmaker Yasujiro Ozu (best known for his B&W masterpiece Tokyo Story). This movie history essay analyzes Ozu's later films that were shot in color (everything made after 1958). At first they examine how he learned color theory and developed his color style between his first two color films: Equinox Flower (1958) & Good Morning (1959). Then dig deeper into Ozu's cinematography choices and what it all means, resulting in the rather intriguing idea that: "Ozu found a way to make color feel objective." Not only is this video essay a fascinating exploration of why cinematography choices are so important in cinema, but now I just want to dive in & watch literally every film featured in here, and spend time with all the people in them. // Continue Reading ›
