Classic Trailer Rewatch: Aronofsky's 'The Fountain' with Hugh Jackman

"Our bodies are prisons for our souls." Did you watch this movie in theaters when it first opened? I did! It's brilliant! Revisit this glorious official trailer for one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken. The Fountain was the 3rd movie directed by Darren Aronofsky coming off his breakout hit Requiem for a Dream in 2000. It took him six years to finally finish and release it. Here's the story: Aronofsky originally planned to direct The Fountain on a $70 million budget with Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett in the lead roles, but Pitt's withdrawal and cost overruns led Warner Bros to shut it down. Aronofsky rewrote the script to be sparser and was able to resurrect the film for $35 million with Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz in the lead roles. Spanning over one thousand years, and three parallel stories, The Fountain is a story of love, death, spirituality, and the fragility of our existence in this world. Along with Jackman & Weisz, it also stars Ellen Burstyn, Stephen McHattie, Mark Margolis, and Cliff Curtis as a conquistador. The Fountain also features a phenomenal score by composer Clint Mansell – it's still one of my all-time favorite movie scores. I love the visuals, especially all the space stuff with the floating tree of life, and I have fond memories of covering this movie during its original release back in 2006. "Do you think we can be... superstars?" Greenwich Entertainment has unveiled an official US trailer for an indie animation film titled Jinsei, which translates directly to "life" in Japanese. This is not your typical anime production from Japan, it's an independent creation from one up-and-coming director. The film is entirely hand-drawn, written, directed, edited by, and scored by a filmmaker name Ryuya Suzuki over two years of time. A man's journey through life, marked by various names and labels, leads him to unexpected success while confronting modern social issues & personal struggles along the way. The Tokyo Film Festival describes it with more awe: "From birth to death, each person goes through life with a variety of nicknames, and sometimes derogatory. This is an epic feature animation that follows the tumultuous 100-year life of 'the man who was never called by his real name.'" UK comic book company 2000 A.D. has debuted a first look teaser trailer for the Rogue Trooper movie, a 3D animated feature written and directed by the sci-fi filmmaker Duncan Jones (his latest since Mute in 2018). This version is not live action, it's an animated feature made entirely with Unreal Engine 5. Producer Stuart Fenegan explains in an interview via Deadline why it has taken so long: "figuring out a new way of making a CG movie takes a while." Based on the sci-fi strip in the British comic 2000 A.D., it follows the adventures of Rogue (starring Aneurin Barnard), a genetically engineered, blue-skinned super-soldier and his three comrades' search for the Traitor General. It began in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in as a candy shop in 1873, evolved into a caramel company in 1883, with Hershey Chocolate operating as its subsidiary. The very first Hershey's Milk Chocolate bar was made in the year 1900. The film depicts this history of The Hershey Co, built by its founder Milton & his wife Kitty, and how their vision changed the world. Uh huh. Sure it did. The religious movie distributor Angel Studios has unveiled an official trailer for the movie Young Washington, a traditionalist look back at the origin story of "America's first leader." The story of America's first president - George Washington - but way before then, when he was a teenager. From filmmaker Jon Erwin (of Jesus Revolution, I Can Only Imagine, House of David) comes a powerful new historical epic based on the true story that shaped a nation. Introducing William Franklyn-Miller as the young George and also starring Mary-Louise Parker as his mom Mary Washington, Kelsey Grammer as Lord Fairfax, Andy Serkis as Edward Braddock, Jonno Davies as James Mackay, Ben Kingsley as Robert Dinwiddie. This film explores the courage, sacrifice, and destiny that forged a legendary leader – following George "fighting through intense battles in the French and Indian War and fending for himself in tense military meetings." Not entirely sure how accurate it will be. The movie opens in theaters in July 2026 – just before Independence Day this summer, which will mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Supernatural Horror Sequel 'Insidious: Out of the Further' First Trailer

"What happens if I can't control this?" Evil found a way out. Or perhaps a way in... Sony has revealed the first official trailer for Insidious: Out of the Further, the next horror entry in this ongoing supernatural thriller series. This is the 6th Insidious so far, a sequel to Insidious: The Red Door (2023), with the series kicking off with James Wan's original Insidious back in 2010. In this next one, a trio of stalkers infiltrate a quiet suburb and force a new family into the astral plane, where they uncover a terrifying truth: the Further is bleeding into the real world. It has gone under other titles after the initial Insidious 6 (including The Bleeding World) but they've finalized it with this one: Insidious: Out of the Further. Starring Amelia Eve (from "Leopard Skin"), Brandon Perea (from Nope), with Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Sam Spruell, Island Austin, Laura Gordon, and of course Lin Shaye. BBC has unveiled the first official trailer for Mint, a unique new romance crime series from filmmaker Charlotte Regan, director of the superb Scrapper a few years back. "Some connections change everything..." Mint is a darkly comic and unconventional drama series about a crime family's inner life, told through the eyes of its daughter, who is searching for love. It was filmed up in Scotland and around the UK early last year. Emma Laird stars as Shannon, the naively romantic daughter of a crime family – a real-life princess who has never wanted for anything. She meets Arran, a member of a rival gang. Their whirlwind romance begins to unravel the world she’s always known. A darkly comic story of passion, heartbreak and love laced with fear. "A criminally good love story." The series also stars Lewis Gribben, Laura Fraser, Sam Riley, Lindsay Duncan, and Ben Coyle-Larner as Arran. This looks solid even with this quick trailer. Starring Y'lan Noel as master thief Coltrane Wilder and Matthew Law as detective Isaiah Stiles. A relentless LAPD cop becomes obsessed with taking down the master thief behind a string of daring heists — and only one can come out on top. The series challenges heist genre norms while examining what drives, sustains, and destroys people. In addition to Y'lan Noel & Matthew Law, the cast also includes Cleopatra Coleman, Tre Hale, Domenick Lombardozzi, Jonnie Park, Ariana Guerra, Gabrielle Dennis, Michael Potts, Sophina Brown, Cedric Joe, & Jeff Pierre.
