GKids has revealed an official trailer for the movie called 5 Centimeters Per Second, another new live-action anime adaptation this year. Hirokazu Koreeda just made his own live-action version of the anime Look Back, which recently premiered (and it's amazing). The original 5 Centimeters Per Second anime film, directed by Makoto Shinkai, originally opened back in 2007. This live-action version is very similar, basically another shot-for-shot update. In the movie, Takaki tells the story of his life as changing times test his romantic feelings. The poignant exploration of growing up and past connections is brought to life this time by director Yoshiyuki Okuyama. 5 Centimeters Per Second is a remarkably beautiful tribute to the way mere moments can come to define our lives. This version stars Hokuto Matsumura as Takaki, Mitsuki Takahata, Nana Mori, and Mai Kiryû. This is a very simple trailer but it teases the vibrant style and story taking us through all these moments in Takaki's life that are so important to him. When a war erupts with the United States (who are seen as the villains), he transforms his restaurant into a refuge for a group of orphans trapped in the city, but he is caught in the crossfire. "I love you so much it hurts!" Netflix debuted the main official trailer for Gentle Monster, an unsettling thriller film ready to view starting in November in the fall. Not one of my favorites from this year - Gentle Monster first premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. From Austrian filmmaker Marie Kreutzer, this disconcerting child abuse drama is about a pianist whose life unravels when the police come to arrest her husband. When a police raid shatters her life, a concert pianist must protect her son and confront how little she knows her husband after he is arrested for an unspeakable crime – yep he is actually a pedophile. She uncovers this life-shattering truth that forces her to confront the complexities of love, trust, and deception. Léa Seydoux stars as Lucy Weiss, along with Laurence Rupp, Jella Haase, and Catherine Deneuve. Featuring music by Camille. The film switches between German, French, and English conversations all the time, which doesn't really work well, but so be it. "Free me. And save your son." Who's ready for this? Disney launched a thrilling second trailer for the next MCU spin-off series VisionQuest, a continuation of the acclaimed Marvel series WandaVision a few years back. The series is debuting to watch streaming on Disney+ in just a few weeks for viewing in the fall. This series follows vibranium android The Vision, played by Paul Bettany, trying to regain his memory and humanity (despite being a robot). He's now in hiding, but when a bounty is placed on his head, Vision is forced to forge real connections and embrace found family if he's to survive. The series cast includes Bettany as Vision, James Spader as Ultron returning with sneaky some tricks up his sleeves, Todd Stashwick as Paladin, Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff, T'Nia Miller as Jocasta, plus a new cast of AI characters: Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, and of course James D'Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S. First Trailer for 'Sister Brother Manhole Cover' Macedonian Comedy

"You can't go anywhere now." Banana Film debuted the first promo trailer for a dark comedy titled Sister Brother Manhole Cover, the new feature film from North Macedonian filmmaker Milcho Manchevski. This one is premiering at the 2026 Tokyo Film Festival coming up this fall, and they've launched a trailer to build some buzz for its unveiling. This dark centers on siblings Malina and Viktor, a sister & brother barely getting by at the edges of Macedonian society. To keep going, the pair sell bronze busts & manhole covers. Their chaotic path eventually brings them to a wealthy elderly woman who is blind. Her mix of hardness & kindness makes them re-examine their own sense of right & wrong, and see what it means to be devoted to another. Starring Sara Klimoska, Filip Trajkovikj, Sonja Mihajlova. "Our anti-heroes defiantly refuse to identify as victims," explains Manchevski. It's "a story of great love and unconditional acceptance that is not erotic." New Trailer for French Animated Film 'Muyi' About a Girl and a Mask

"I see my new life." Gebeka Films in France has revealed the first official trailer for a new French animated film titled Muyi, set in China about a young girl and the tale of the "Handsome General". The full French title is also Muyi, la légende du village des femmes (Muyi, the legend of the village of women), and it's directed by the animation filmmaker Julien Chheng, also known for "The Spy Dancer" story from Star Wars: Visions. This new animated film is about Muyi, a fearless young girl who lives on a Chinese secluded mountain in a mysterious village where men are forbidden. On the Day of the Dead, a traveling opera troupe performs the famous play "The Handsome General". But the intriguing play awakens old secrets and quickly brings chaos to the village after she tries on the mask. Featuring the voices of Lucie Zhang as Muyi, Jean-Stan Du Pac, Guillaume Bouchède, Yumi Fujimori, Colette Venhard, and Astor Chheng. This already premiered at the 2026 Annecy Film Festival this summer, and just played at TIFF, and has a French theatrical release set for February 2027, but no US release confirmed yet. The video is called "How Zoe Kazan Reimagined a Steinbeck Classic" with narration from Kazan explaining her vision of this new take on the novel. This modern version of John Steinbeck's masterpiece will explore the multigenerational saga of the Trask family, focusing new attention on its indelible antihero, Cathy Ames – played by Florence Pugh in this version of the story. The book was turned into the James Dean classic movie East of Eden. This 7 episode series offers a compelling perspective on the ways in which a family's history impacts a person's present reality. In addition to Pugh playing the lead as Cathy Ames, the series stars Christopher Abbott and Mike Faist as Adam and Charles Trask, with Hoon Lee, Tracy Letts, Ciarán Hinds, Martha Plimpton, Joseph Zada, and Joe Anders. This originally debuted on BBC earlier in 2026 and is already in development for another season. It's finally hitting the US streaming via Apple TV starting in October this fall. Small Prophets is the story of a man who sets out to create homunculi — magical spirits that can predict the future. These magical creatures may have the answers Michael’s been searching for. Michael Sleep is still struggling after his girlfriend, Clea, vanished 7 years earlier. Sleep works in a DIY store, visits his dad Brian and hopes for Clea’s return. After receiving an alchemical recipe to create homunculi, he uses their prophecies to search for answers about whether he will ever see her again... Featuring Pearce Quigley as Michael Sleep, Mackenzie Crook, Michael Palin, Paul Kaye, Lauren Patel, Sophie Willan, Jon Pointing.
