As the summer comes to an end, the next season begins - the fall film festival season is about to launch this week. Ready to discover what awaits us over these next few months? What will be the stand out discoveries within these line-ups? It's time to find out! Kicking things off with the 83rd Venice Film Festival which is beginning this week in sunny Italy, along with the 53rd Telluride Film Festival in Colorado – two of the most iconic and important festivals in the world. Then the 51st Toronto Film Festival will continue right through September, before Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX (starting on Sept. 17) and the 64th New York Film Festival in NYC (starting on Sept. 25), continuing with the Zurich Film Festival (on Sep. 24) and London Film Festival (starting on Oct. 7) and many others. This is when all the big new movies and surprise projects they've been saving for the end of the year finally make their first appearance. The mysteries of love... 01 Distribution in Italy has revealed the first official trailer for the film The Echo Chamber, an Italian romantic drama from filmmaker Andrea Pallaoro (also Medeas, Hannah, Monica). After premiering Monica at the festival back in 2022, he's returning once again with his latest film - in both English and Italian. The film is a love story where the boundaries between presence and absence, care and dependence, desire and control blur until they dissolve... During a weekend reunion, a rising sci-fi author welcomes 3 college friends to his home, but eerie events begin to blur the lines between reality & imagination. Jermaine Fowler stars as the author Allen, about to hit it big with a book & movie deal, but something seems very weird about him. He's obsessed with "The Neptune Cycle" sci-fi books & the aliens in them. The cast includes James Morosini, Pauline Chalamet, Edy Modica, Rob Yang, & Brendan Hunt. In Crawlers, tenants at Paradiso Palms apartments fight a deadly spider invasion while the cunning building manager might be their only hope for survival. New Trailer for 4K Restoration of 'Kwaidan' - Quartet of Ghost Stories

Janus Films has unveiled their official trailer for a new 4K restoration of the Japanese horror classic Kwaidan, originally released in theaters worldwide way back in 1965. It played at the 1965 Cannes Film Festival and was also released in the US by Continental that same year. Kwaidan is a Japanese horror anthology film featuring four supernatural segments all directed by Masaki Kobayashi. This consists of four separate stories adapted from Lafcadio Hearn's collections of Japanese folktales, including two from his 1904 book Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things, the film's namesake. Set mostly in feudal Japan, the stories feature vengeful spirits enforcing moral retribution, while portraying the supernatural realm as largely indifferent to human suffering. The film stars Tatsuya Nakadai, Tetsurō Tamba, Yoichi Hayashi, Katsuo Nakamura, Rentarō Mikuni, and Keiko Kishi; no actors appear in more than one segment. This new 4K re-release version is based on the original 3 hour cut, not the Cannes version that was a slightly shorter 161 minutes. This final version is 183 minutes in total. Reviews describe it as: "a rare, hermetic beauty, full of ethereal images and errant ideas that will haunt the mind." One of the most incredible horror films ever!
