"When I came home, I felt like I had to give back to my neighborhood." Criterion Channel has unveiled an official trailer for a doc series tilted Conbody vs Everbody, a documentary from filmmaker Debra Granik (of Winter's Bone, Leave No Trace). This initially premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival with two episodes – with the full series finally ready to watch now. Throughout the course of eight years, Coss Marte constructs ConBody, a gym modeled after the exercises he learned while incarcerated. This five-part doc series follows former inmate Coss Marte and his attempt to help others fresh out of prison. As he wages an uphill battle against the stigma of incarceration and realities of a relentlessly gentrifying city where second chances are hard to come by, the result is both an inspiring portrait of a man on a mission and a powerful examination of a system that continues to punish people even after serving their time. Glad that Criterion is giving this a chance to be seen as it seems to be much more than just a series about a workout. Check it out. // Continue Reading ›
