4K release of this cult classic
sci-fi action movie from the late 1990s called
Soldier. I'm actually a big fan of this movie – I loved it when it came out in 1998 and watched it quite a few times back then.
Soldier is one of director Paul W.S. Anderson's 90s extra cheesy action movies – yes it's dumb and campy but fun and kind of endearing cause this soldier has a soft side. After the one-two punch of
Mortal Kombat &
Event Horizon, W.S. Anderson teamed up with iconic action star
Kurt Russell and writer David Webb Peoples (
Blade Runner, Unforgiven) for the thrilling sci-fi adventure. Unfortunately it was a huge box office bomb. Oh well. A soldier trained from birth is deemed obsolete and dumped on a waste planet where he is reluctantly taken in by a community of defenseless, stranded wayfarers. Russell stars with

Jason Scott Lee,
Michael Chiklis, &
