MGM Studios has revealed an official trailer for the film American Fiction, the highly acclaimed featured directorial debut of writer Cord Jefferson. The film won the "People's Choice Award" at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival last month, which is a very major prize that usually indicates that the film will end up with a Best Picture nomination. It's now set for release in December in select theaters at first, with stops at AFI Fest + Denver Film Festival. Author Thelonious "Monk" Ellison is peeved because his latest offering hasn't caught fire with publishers, while a tome called We's Lives in Da Ghetto by Sintara Golden hits the bestseller lists, leaving Monk seething. It's a critical, satirical commentary on our culture's obsession with reducing people to outrageous stereotypes. This stars Jeffrey Wright as Monk, with Tracee Ellis Ross, Issa Rae, Keith David, Erika Alexander, Leslie Uggams, Adam Brody, and Sterling K. Brown.
