"What if we got married everywhere?" Strand Releasing debuted the official US trailer for the film Julian, made by Belgian filmmaker Cato Kusters as her feature debut. This first premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival last year and already hit theaters in Belgium last fall. Produced by fellow Belgian filmmaker Lukas Dhont, based on the memoir "Julian" written by Fleur Pierets. Fleur and Julian fall madly in love and decide to get married in all of the countries where they, as two women, are allowed to do so. After only four marriages, their journey comes to a painful and unexpected halt. Described as "an impressive, understated directorial debut about love, loss and the bravery required to keep trying to live in an unfair world." Starring Nina Meurisse as Fleur & Laurence RootHooft as the titular Julian. Other reviews are very positive, saying: "Julian invites us not just to witness this love, but to feel it, carry it, and recognize the injustice that made such a project necessary in the first place." Sounds great! And this footage looks very passionate and extra intense following this couple around. Opens in the US in limited art house theaters soon this summer. // Continue Reading ›
