"We're lost and we just wanna get home!" Disney has revealed the official trailer for a lovely animated short called An Almost Christmas Story, produced by maestro filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron, and directed by acclaimed filmmaker David Lowery for Disney+. The 21-minute film has been playing at film festivals this year, and will be streaming on Disney+ in November this fall. Just in time for it to grab an Oscar nom next year. An Almost Christmas Story is inspired by the true events of a tiny owl rescued from NYC's Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in 2020. It's about Moon, a curious young owl who unexpectedly finds himself stuck in a tree destined for Rockefeller Plaza. In his attempts to escape the bustling city, Moon befriends a lost little girl named Luna. Together, they embark on a heartwarming adventure, discovering the magic of the holiday season. The voices include Cary Christopher as Moon, newcomer Estella Madrigal as Luna, Jim Gaffigan as Papa Owl, Mamoudou Athie as Pelly, Alex Ross Perry as Dave The Dog, Gianna Joseph as Peaky, Phil Rosenthal as Punt, with Natasha Lyonne as Pat and John C. Reilly as The Folk Singer, who performs four songs in the short, two of which are original songs. Looks like it's stop-motion animation, but they don't call it that, so it's just the style - made of cardboard & wood. What a cute little owl. // Continue Reading ›
