First Teaser for 'Soul Patrol' Doc About First Black Special Ops Team
"This life, as you live it at present and have lived it, you must live it once more." Kino Lorber has revealed the first teaser trailer for the film titled Soul Patrol, a powerful documentary about African-American soldiers fighting in the Vietnam War. This doc first premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, where it won the Best Director prize, and has played at many other festivals throughout the rest of 2026 as well. In the film Soul Patrol directed by J.M. Harper, the Vietnam War's first Black special ops team reunites to share their untold story, uncovering a hidden chapter of American military history, and exploring whether reckoning with the past can bring peace to those who lived it. Opening on the war's 50th anniversary, the surviving members reunite in a hotel that becomes a surreal liminal space, where memory, brotherhood, and unresolved trauma collide. Soul Patrol is not just another war story, but a reckoning – an intimate portrait of survival, memory, and the enduring cost of war on those sent to go fight it. View below. // Continue Reading ›

Review: 'Making Marie Antoinette' Doc is an Intimate Time Capsule
Few films offer the unique chance to pull back the curtain & reveal the immense labor & time a crew invests in the filmmaking process. Even rarer are those that provide an incredibly intimate portrait of the creators themselves, captured by someone with unprecedented access to both the professional & personal sides of the journey. In 2005, documentarian Eleanor Coppola followed her daughter, Sofia, during the chaotic and historic shoot of her film Marie Antoinette — the first movie production ever granted full access to the Palace of Versailles outside of Paris, France. The result of her shadowing Sofia was 80 hours of behind-the-scenes footage that Eleanor always dreamed of turning into a film. Following her mother’s passing in 2024, Sofia decided to honor that wish, shaping this unique material into an 86-minute documentary film titled Making Marie Antoinette. This new documentary just premiered at the 2026 Telluride & New York Film Festivals. The footage is accompanied by readings from Eleanor’s personal diaries, narrated by Diane Lane. // Continue Reading ›

'Once Upon a Time in the Middle East' US Trailer - China's Submission
"All I wanted to do was go home." Well Go USA has revealed a new US trailer for a Chinese film titled Once Upon a Time in the Middle East, telling the story of a Chinese restaurant in the Middle East that gets caught up in the middle of a war. This already opened in China in August, and it's their official submission to the Academy Awards this year. Interesting pick. The original title translates to Welcome to the Loong Restaurant. One of China’s biggest stars, Shen Teng, leads this acclaimed box office sensation about a chef who transforms a struggling restaurant into a refuge shelter & risks it all to protect his community. The anti-war film (also very anti-America) tells the story of Xu Fu, a philanthropic chef at a Chinese restaurant in the fictional city of Bahata in the Middle East. When a war erupts with the United States (who are seen as the villains), he transforms his restaurant into a refuge for a group of orphans trapped in the city, but he is caught in the crossfire. Whereas most war films mainly focus on heroism & battles, this one tells a humane story of ordinary civilians struggling to survive. The full cast includes Jiang Qiming, Omar Sharif, Aarif Lee Zhi-ting, and Sherif Sabby. Looks like it actually has a wholesome message about how food matters. // Continue Reading ›

Official US Trailer for 'The Remotes' Sci-Fi Neo-Noir from Philippines
"Just keep driving." Our friends at The Film Stage have unveiled the first trailer for the film The Remotes, an intriguing Filipino sci-fi mystery thriller made by filmmaker John Torres based in Manila. This played at the New York Film Festival and it also played a TIFF this fall. The intro explains: "Fashioned in part as a response to the Philippines’ longtime president Rodrigo Duterte's 'war on drugs' and the country's resultant surveillance state, Torres's drifting, impressionistic film expands and compresses time..." Called a sinister "sci-fi-tinged neo-noir", the film follows a grieving detective who investigates two sisters linked to a sinister navigation app, only to find himself slowly surrendering to the unseen voices controlling the city and his own lingering sorrow. Starring Alchris Galura, Gabby Padilla, Julia Richards, and Enchong Dee. Director John Torres adds: "The Remotes is about how longing can become infrastructure. How grief stifles us while technology listens in & automates our choices in life. It is a world where people willingly surrender to it because it brings them closer to someone they lost, or someone they used to be." Yep that sounds pretty sad and this looks pretty good – especially for fans of slow cinema and experimental art house genre films. // Continue Reading ›
