The Wanting Mare is a "technical marvel of digital world-building on the level of Sky Captain and Sin City, having been almost entirely - and unbelievably - shot inside a storage unit in New Jersey. Five years in the making, its hundreds of visual effects seamlessly blend digital landscapes and physical reality, bringing Whithren and its greater world to unbelievable life." Set in Whithren, a line of women pass a single dream through multiple generations. The film follows a group of people making their way in a fantasy world called "Anmaere", equal parts Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, that has evolved into a "modern" setting much like Earth. This unsettling horror is about an Iranian couple living in the US that becomes trapped inside a hotel when insidious events force them to face the secrets that have come between them. It becomes a night that never ends… The Night stars Shahab Hosseini, Leah Oganyan, Niousha Jafarian, George Maguire, and Gia Mora. This still looks heavily inspired by The Shining in many ways, but re-invented as an intriguing immigrant horror film about Iranians and the demons haunting their relationship. Shout Factory has released an official US trailer for the documentary titled Woman In Motion, which also has the full title Woman In Motion: Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek And The Remaking Of NASA. This originally premiered in 2019 at the Florida Film Festival and played at other fests that year, finally arriving on VOD this winter. In 1977, with just four months left, NASA struggled to recruit scientists, engineers and astronauts for their new Space Shuttle Program. That is when Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek's beloved Lt. Uhura, challenged NASA by asking the question: "Where are my people?". MTV Studios has revealed the official trailer for a documentary titled Beautiful Something Left Behind, an acclaimed film that premiered at a few documentary film festivals last year. It's wonderful. At Good Grief groups, children meet to understand the passing of a parent or a sibling through play, giving in to rage in 'the volcano room' and saying goodbye to a dying teddy bear patient in 'the hospital room'. Over the course of a year, we follow the weekly meetings and get close to Kimmy, Nicky, Peter, Nora, Nolan and Mikayla and their close companion: grief. The film shows us how humor goes hand-in-hand with heartbreak, and how hard it is to cope and deal with death. But also how support and openness make a big difference. Charlotte Kirk in Trailer for Neil Marshall's Witch Film 'The Reckoning'

RLJE Films has released an official trailer for The Reckoning, a new horror thriller from British filmmaker Neil Marshall (of Dog Soldiers, The Descent, Centurion, Hellboy). This first premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival last year, and it also played in Germany's Fantasy Filmfest, now set for a VOD release starting in February. A young widow accused of being a witch defends herself against the clergy and patriarchy. It's described as a "gory revenge thriller in historical guise", starring Charlotte Kirk (who also co-wrote the script and executive produced) as a woman unjustly accused of being a witch who is placed in the custody of England's most ruthless witch-hunter. The cast also includes Joe Anderson, Steven Waddington, and Sean Pertwee. This trailer has tons of creepy footage, and Marshall definitely knows how to make a good horror film. Full Trailer for Android Thriller 'Outside the Wire' with Anthony Mackie

"I'm a prototype - my existence is classified." Netflix has revealed a full-length official trailer for Outside the Wire, a sci-fi action thriller film from Swedish filmmaker Mikael Håfström (1408, Shanghai, The Rite, Escape Plan) set in the near future. Damson Idris (seen on the TV shows "Snowfall", "Black Mirror") stars as a disgraced drone pilot who is sent into a deadly militarized zone where he finds himself working for an undercover android officer, played by Anthony Mackie, and is tasked to locate a doomsday device before the insurgents do. This has the look of Edge of Tomorrow, but without the time loop. There are, however, some slick robots and various sci-fi aspects that give it a different vibe. Also starring Enzo Cilenti, Emily Beecham, Michael Kelly, and Pilou Asbæk. This looks even better than the first trailer, I'm honestly quite excited to watch this! And hopefully it's good and not just another bad January movie being dumped. ›››
