Three People Struggle with Mental Health in 'Beware of Dog' Trailer

Freestyle DM has released an official trailer for an indie film titled Beware of Dog, a Russian drama that premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival last year. The film tells the story of three different young adults struggling with their mental health problems in their cities - Moscow, Berlin, NYC. Alienated in politically-ambiguous Moscow, a young woman deals with OCD, while her cousin in Berlin tries to build a romantic relationship ignoring her own condition. In New York City, a heartbroken boxer struggles with addiction, self worth and online anxiety, which connects all of these characters. Starring Marina Vasileva, Paula Knüpling, and Buddy Duress. First Trailer for 'Crack: Cocaine, Corruption & Conspiracy' Netflix Doc

"It changed everything about America." Netflix is releasing this doc film in a few weeks this month, and we have yet to share the trailer. Crack: Cocaine, Corruption & Conspiracy is made by filmmaker Stanley Nelson and will be streaming on Netflix soon. The film is a comprehensive and extensive look at the modern history of cocaine in America. It "examines not only the personal devastation caused by the drug, but also the shadowy origins of the crisis and the resultant, ongoing marginalization of Black and Brown people trapped by the prison and healthcare systems." The film's "strongest opinion", as pointed out in this Daily Beast review, is "namely, that the extreme criminalization of narcotics has, during the past few decades, led to a mass incarceration catastrophe—predominantly punishing Black Americans, even though two-thirds of '80s-'90s crack users were reportedly white—that we’re still dealing with today." Looks like a damn good doc film that not only asks tough question, but tells the truth about what really happened during the "drug war". ›››

Trailer for Lion Cub Movie 'Lena and Snowball' with Melissa Collazo

"What if he escape from a zoo, or something?" Lionsgate has released a trailer for Lena and Snowball, a charming lion cub drama based on a true story. This seems to be a cheesy American remake of the French film Mia and the White Lion, about a young woman who befriends a lion cub living in Africa. This one has a similar story. Lena tries to keep playful Snowball out of trouble, but the clumsy poachers who kidnapped the valuable cub, and the cruel trophy collector who paid for him, are desperate to get him back. That sounds like an entirely uninspired story. Melissa Collazo stars in this as Lena; she's joined by Robert Knepper, Wade Williams, Branscombe Richmond, Ansuman Bhagat, and Elliott Sancrant. This looks way too much like it's trying to capitalize on the "Tiger King" buzz, and retell a story in a more cheesy way than actually address any of the real issues brought up in the story. But the lion cub is cute so who cares! Right? ›››

"Lock down one last ride." Warner Bros has released the first official trailer for a movie titled Locked Down, formerly known as Lockdown, yet another new film made by director Doug Liman (who also made Chaos Walking releasing sometime this year). "When the world is locked down, they'll find their ticket out." One old description for this film explains that "a couple attempt a high-risk, high-stakes jewellery heist at a department store." But the new official synopsis says "just as they decide to separate, Linda and Paxton, find life has other plans when they are stuck at home in a mandatory lockdown. Co-habitation is proving to be a challenge, but fueled by poetry and copious amounts of wine, it will bring them closer together in the most surprising way." This one stars Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor, along with Ben Kingsley, Ben Stiller, Lucy Boynton, Mindy Kaling, Stephen Merchant, Dulé Hill, and Mark Gatiss. Run Hide Fight is a Die Hard-esque film about a school shooting in America. A sore, sad subject to focus on. It premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year, and worst of all, it's being distributed by a hardcore right-wing propaganda organization. It's important to point out this fact - and let you make up your own mind about the film and its content. Run Hide Fight follows a high school sieged by a quartet of live-streaming school shooters when one young girl, 17-year-old Zoe Hull, uses her wits and survival skills to fight back. Starring Thomas Jane, Radha Mitchell, Eli Brown, Olly Sholotan, Treat Williams, Barbara Crampton, and Isabel May as Zoe. This looks like a very unsettling, disturbing right-wing fantasy that glorifies violence way too much. ›››

Caught between a lost love story and inescapable paranoia, Knapp's Go/Don't Go is a "genre-bending" slow burn thriller that follows Adam, a wallflower who happens to be the last person left alive – or so he thinks… The indie film stars Alex Knapp, Nore Davis, Olivia Luccardi, Thomas Essig, and Bettina Skye. It's described as a "post-apocalyptic psychological thriller, oscillating between a forgotten love story & inescapable paranoia." This footage looks a bit pretentious, but still worth watching, with some slick shots of a lonely post-apocalyptic world. I'm rather intrigued by this strange indie creation. ›››
