Itsaso Arana Wanders Around Madrid in Trailer for 'The August Virgin'

"Bumping into each other again, it's odd, right?" Outsider Pictures has released an official US trailer for an indie summer drama titled The August Virgin, from acclaimed Spanish indie filmmaker Jonás Trueba. He partnered with actress / writer Itsaso Arana to make a very personal film about figuring yourself out in your 30s. Arana stars as Eva, a young actress who is not quite satisfied with her life. In an act of faith, she decides to stay in Madrid during August, when all the other locals leave because it's too hot to stay. August offers her a chance to start from scratch as she wanders around the city. The small cast includes Vito Sanz, Isabelle Stoffel, Joe Manjon, María Herrador, Luis Heras, and Mikele Urroz. The film premiered at the Karlvoy Vary Film Festival last year and also opened in Spain last year. I saw it at KVIFF, loved it, and published a glowing review, saying it's "an exceptional slice of cinematic bliss - a lyrical, poetic, meandering film about the never-ending challenge in life to define ourselves." I'm happy it's finally getting a US release. ›››

First Trailer for 'Stuntwomen' Doc All About Female Stunt Performers

Shout Factory has revealed the official trailer for a kick ass filmmaking documentary called Stuntwomen, made by producer / director April Wright. The film's full title is Stuntwomen: The Untold Hollywood Story and it will be available to watch this September. An action-documentary about the evolution of stunt women from The Perils of Pauline (1914) and beyond. Featuring narration (and interviews) by Michelle Rodriguez. The documentary goes "behind-the-scenes and introduces us to the female stunt performers who drive the action and thrills of Hollywood’s biggest blockbuster movies from the silent age of cinema to present day." "CNN offered unprecedented access to their coverage, going out of their way to include names news junkies and casual viewers alike have come to know." Warner Bros has unveiled a new official trailer to celebrate the 10th anniversary re-release of Christopher Nolan's Inception, which originally hit theaters in the summer of 2010. This re-release is connected with the delayed release of Nolan's latest movie Tenet, which has been rescheduled to open in the US starting in September. Inception is Nolan's complex sci-fi thriller about a team of thieves who are given the task of planting an idea inside the mind of a CEO, but end up finding themselves caught in a trap. How to Survive as an Indie Filmmaker in 'Clapboard Jungle' Doc Trailer

"Making movies is beautiful… Raising the money, selling them, is horrible." An official trailer has debuted for a documentary film titled Clapboard Jungle, made by Canadian filmmaker Justin McConnell. In full it's: Clapboard Jungle: Surviving the Independent Film Business, an "introspective journey following five years in the life and career of an independent filmmaker." The film is "intended to serve as a survival guide for the modern independent filmmaker." Featuring interviews with dozens of directors, producers, writers, actors, distributors, festival programmers, publicists and more, all while following one filmmaker's personal journey, this is a film created to help people stay afloat in a risky business. As nice as that sounds, it seems like it might just remind people that it's an intense challenge to get into indie filmmaking. Even this doc has been in development for almost six years, originally planned to release in 2016. It's finally ready for release. But there's still no date set yet either. Official Trailer for Netflix's 'Tiny Creatures' Series About Little Animals

"Experience the hidden world… where bigger isn't always better." Netflix has released an official trailer for a new docu-drama series titled Tiny Creatures, one of the first projects directed by award-winning nature cinematographer Jonathan Jones. It "magnifies some of the world's smallest wildlife… In every episode, immerse yourself in a different ecosystem and see the drama that unfolds right at our very feet." Nature is so cool! It's not really a documentary, they wanted to tell stories with each of these little animals. "All eight episodes feature tiny creatures facing huge challenges in dramatic new environments. Helped by a team of handlers and trainers, Jonathan used real animals for the stories, and even wrote scripts for them ahead of filming." The series is narrated by Mike Colter and directed by the cinematographer who won an Emmy for "Planet Earth II". I think we're all in need of some wholesome, adorable entertainment like this about all these little creatures. But this also seems so scary and intense it might be hard to watch!
