First Trailer for Comedy Film 'An American Pickle' Starring Seth Rogen

"It's very pungent." HBO Max has unveiled the first official trailer for a wacky new high concept comedy titled An American Pickle, from filmmaker Brandon Trost and writer Simon Rich. Here's the concept: Seth Rogen stars as as "Herschel Greenbaum," a struggling laborer who immigrates to America in 1920 with dreams of building a better life for his beloved family. One day, while working at his factory job, he falls into a vat of pickles and is brined for 100 years. The brine preserves him perfectly and when he emerges in present day Brooklyn, he finds that he hasn’t aged a day. But when he seeks out his family, he is troubled to learn that his only surviving relative is his great grandson, "Ben Greenbaum" (also played by Rogen), a mild-mannered computer coder. You've got to see this! The cast includes Sarah Snook, Joanna Adler, Jorma Taccone, & Geoffrey Cantor. I love everything about it and the footage is hilarious. Can't wait to watch. ›››

Australian Fantasy Family Film 'The Legend of the Five' Official Trailer

"Do you really think that five children would stand against the end of the world?" FilmInk in Australia has debuted an official trailer for an Australian fantasy adventure family film titled The Legend of the Five, marking the feature directorial debut of actress Joanne Samuel (she played Jessie in the original Mad Max movie!). This looks very much like a fun-for-all-ages kind of fantasy story, campiness and all. When a group of misfit teenagers encounter an ancient relic during a school trip to a museum, they find themselves caught up in a magical world, with elemental powers beyond their belief, and the responsibility of stopping an age old evil from destroying the world. The movie stars Lauren Esposito, Gabi Sproule, Leigh Joel Scott, Nicholas Andrianakos, Deborah An, Beth Champion, and Tiriel Mora. This seems like it's straight out of the 90s, but that may be a good thing considering the quality of most family films nowadays anyway. ›››

Netflix has debuted the official trailer for a feature-length documentary film titled Father Soldier Son, made by NY Times reporters / filmmakers Catrin Einhorn and Leslye Davis. When Sgt. First Class Brian Eisch is critically wounded in Afghanistan, it sets him and his sons on a journey of love, loss, redemption and legacy. The project originally started following a battalion's yearlong deployment in Afghanistan, but it evolved into something much deeper and complex over years. "At once a verité portrait of ordinary people living in the shadow of active duty and a longitudinal survey of the intergenerational cycles of military service, [the film] is a profound and deeply personal exploration of the meaning of sacrifice, purpose, duty and American manhood in the aftermath of war." But it did." 1091 has released an official trailer for a film titled Street Survivors, though the full title also sets up the plot: Street Survivors: The True Story of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash. This is not a documentary, it's a fictional feature made about the plane crash. Strange but it's real. This premiered at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival last year. Street Survivors centers on drummer Artimus Pyle's experience as a band member with Lynyrd Skynyrd and the tragically fateful day their rented plane crashed in the late evening in the swamps of Gillsburg, MS in October of 1977 and took the lives of singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, his sister back up singer Cassie Gaines, their road manager Dean Kilpatrick, and the two pilots. Starring Ian Shultis, Taylor Clift, Jon Briddell, Sean McNabb, Kelly Lynn Reiter, and Krystyna Ahlers. Venture into Deep Space in Trailer for IMAX's 'Asteroid Hunters' Film

"Finding asteroids before they find us is critical." IMAX has unveiled an official trailer for a short doc film titled Asteroid Hunters, premiering in the giant format cinemas in October later this fall (hopefully once they have safely re-opened). The film is formerly known as IMAX: Asteroid Impact 3D, which hints that this was originally about what would happen if an asteroid did impact. But the focus now is on the people and technology from around the world to track and assess asteroids. First Trailer for All-Female Punk Band 'The Go-Go's' Music History Doc

"People would freak out when we played." Showtime has unveiled the first official trailer for another music history, rock doc titled The Go-Go's, a film entirely about the history of the all-women punk band The Go-Go's. It takes a look into the success of the Go-Go's. The Go-Go's were formed in Los Angeles in 1978, but they only hit it big in the 80s. Except for short periods when other musicians joined briefly, the band has had a relatively stable line-up consisting of Charlotte Caffey on lead guitar & keyboards, Belinda Carlisle on vocals, Gina Schock on drums, Kathy Valentine on bass guitar, Jane Wiedlin on rhythm guitar. They were the first, and to date only, all-female band that wrote their own songs and played their own instruments to top the album charts. The Go-Go's will also release their first new recording in nearly 20 years, "Club Zero," starting on July 31st just before the doc premieres on Showtime this summer. This film looks rad! The first trailer arrived a few months back, this new one is a reminder that this movie launches on Netflix soon. A covert team of immortal mercenaries are suddenly exposed and must now fight to keep their identity a secret as an unexpected new member is discovered. A "gritty, grounded, action-packed story that shows living forever is harder than it looks." Starring Charlize Theron as "Andy", aka Andromache of Scythia, with KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Harry Melling, Van Veronica Ngo, plus Matthias Schoenaerts and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Hard to tell from these trailers if this is going to be any good, but I'm hopeful. Maybe it'll have some slick action at least. ›››
