Lovely Trailer for Series 'Babies' with Paapa Essiedu & Siobhan Cullen
"This isn't gonna change us. I feel like we should start trying again..." BBC has unveiled their official trailer a for new series soon titled Babies, a BBC TV production about a couple. This "gripping, tender, urgent love story" follows one couple as they go through the drama of trying to have a baby. Starring Paapa Essiedu (seen in The Outrun, "Black Mirror") & Siobhan Cullen (seen in "Bodkin") as Stephen & Lisa. They learn to navigate pregnancy loss amid everyday life. Through grief & isolation, their bond grows stronger as they find healing through hope, humor, and love. The series also features Charlotte Riley & Jack Bannon as Amanda & Dave - a new couple navigating their own challenges, testing their compatibility. Their complex relationship, set against Lisa & Stephen's ongoing pregnancy journey, begins to expose cracks in Stephen & Dave's long-standing friendship. I feel there's such a warm, wholesome chemistry between Essiedu & Cullen which makes this so watchable. I'm intrigued even if it all seems a bit cliche & melodramatic. Worth a look. // Continue Reading ›

Gnarly Full Trailer for 'Beast' MMA Movie Starring Daniel MacPherson
"I fought for my life every day..." Lionsgate has launched the main official trailer for a brutal action movie called Beast, made by Australian filmmaker Tyler Atkins. Yet another MMA movie about a strong underdog fighter who returns to the ring to prove he's still capable of taking on anyone. A fisherman who once fought for a living agrees to a final return in an MMA shodown after his brothers is put in danger — forcing him to confront whether violence can ever set a family free. Pushed to his breaking point, the contender's stakes are simple: win, or lose everything he's built. Of course! The screenplay is actually co-written by Russell Crowe - a very Australian production. Beast stars Daniel MacPherson, Luke Hemsworth, Bren Foster, Amy Shark, Mojean Aria, Kelly Gale, and Russell Crowe as his trainer. Out in theaters this April. Not to be confused with 2017's film also titled Beast with Jessie Buckley. This story about brothers also reminds me of the excellent Warrior film. Looks especially brutal and amped up. Might be damn good! Check it out below. // Continue Reading ›

Must Watch First Trailer for Marvel's 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'
"We are facing with a danger we can't control, one we can't even see." Sony Pictures + Marvel Studios have revealed the first official trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, arriving in theaters starting in July this summer. This is the fourth solo Spider-Man with Tom Holland, produced in partnership with Marvel Studios and made by Sony. Spider-Man: Brand New Day once again stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker, who is trying to move on from being the superhero Spider-Man after his multiverse experience in No Way Home, alas he's back to fight off more villains. The cast includes Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk / Brue Banner, Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, Michael Mando as the villain Scorpion, and Tramell Tillman. Plus the voiceover in this sounds like it's from Keith David. So far so good, even if the CGI in this looks rough, the rest of it looks like a proper Spidey rebirth/rebooth. Since this series has been getting repetitive - Holland is finally getting a refresh with Cretton breathing new life into this series again. I'm all for this! Go Spidey, go. // Continue Reading ›

Trailer for Sophy Romvari's 'Blue Heron' Film Set on Vancouver Island
"Have you ever heard about a family like this?" Janus Films has unveiled the trailer for the Canadian indie film titled Blue Heron, marking the feature directorial debut of acclaimed Canadian-Hungarian filmmaker Sophy Romvari. This premiered at the 2025 Locarno Film Festival last year then played at the Toronto, San Sebastian, Chicago, and Vancouver Film Festivals as well. Romvari described Blue Heron as her "most significant attempt to capture just how fallible memory is." A cinematic story about her upbringing. It's her own autobiographical tale about experiences growing up with her family on Vancouver Island - her parents are immigrants from Hungary. A family of six settles into their new home on Vancouver Island as internal dynamics are slowly revealed through the eyes of the youngest child. Their fresh start, however, is disrupted by the increasingly dangerous behaviour of Jeremy, her eldest brother. "Drawing on her own life story, [she] masterfully plays with the boundaries of fiction, breaking with the expectations of the traditional coming-of-age story." This stars Eylul Guven, Iringó Réti, Ádám Tompa, Edik Beddoes, Amy Zimmer, Liam Serg, and Preston Drabble. This earned rave reviews from critics and opens in limited theaters in April. // Continue Reading ›

John Krasinski is Back in 'Jack Ryan: Ghost War' Movie Teaser Trailer
"I said I wasn't doing it!" Prime Video has revealed a first look teaser trailer for a new spinoff movie event called Jack Ryan: Ghost War, arriving to watch in a few months. This is a one-time "major movie event" that is a continuation of the Jack Ryan series starring John Krasinski as the iconic Tom Clancy character. Krasinski took over the role in 2018 and that ran for 4 seasons into 2023 where it finally wrapped up with the "final season." But of course in the streaming world there's always room for one more movie. Netflix has the Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man movie out soon, and Prime Video has this Ghost War movie. Ryan's new mission forces him to confront a rogue black-ops unit. Operating in real time with lives on the line, he reunites with battle-tested CIA operative Mike November and former CIA boss James Greer, their combined experience the only edge they have against an enemy who knows their every move. Starring Krasinski with Sienna Miller, Wendell Pierce, Michael Kelly, Betty Gabriel, Max Beesley, and Douglas Hodge. This is actually the sixth Jack Ryan movie in the franchise's history, though it's really more of an extended TV finale than anything brand new - more of the same action. Out this May if anyone wants to check it out. // Continue Reading ›

First Look Trailer for Jonah Hill's 'Outcome' Movie with Keanu Reeves
"Why did you stay my friend, why are you still here?" Apple TV has unveiled the first official trailer for the dark comedy film called Outcome, directed by Jonah Hill who also stars in it and co-wrote it. This looks like it's Jonah Hill's attempt to tell his own story and atone for his problems and his past by making a movie about another guy that isn't him but is kinda sorta about him. Keanu Reeves stars as a famous Hollywood actor named Reef Hawk. He is forced to confront his problems and atone for his past after being threatened by bizarre video footage from his past. But what exactly is the video and what does he have to apologize for? This trailer only drops hints but doesn't reveal anything specific. Keanu Reeves stars with Cameron Diaz & Matt Bomer as his only two friends, Jonah Hill as his peculiar lawyer, along with David Spade, Kaia Gerber, Roy Wood Jr., Laverne Cox, Drew Barrymore, Martin Scorsese (yep for real!!), and many, many others. This looks so weird. Aside from all the intriguing wide angle, over-saturated shots throughout it has such a strange vibe. Keanu looks great (he's always fun) but the way he's playing this character seems at odds with the tone of the rest of it. Worth a watch anyway – to see what Jonah Hill has been cooking up. // Continue Reading ›

Crypto Truth Doc 'Everyone Is Lying to You for Money' Official Trailer
"What do you say to the people who have been scammed?" The Forge has unveiled a trailer for Everyone Is Lying to You for Money, a fascinating documentary film about how totally crazy & extremely corrupt the cryptocurrency market really is. From last year's DOC NYC Festival and at this year's CPH:DOX comes a new film by actor turned filmmaker Ben McKenzie - his very first feature. "If you've bought cryptocurrency in the hope of easy money, you should watch Ben McKenzie's entertaining and eye-opening film, which is to cryptocurrency what The Big Short was to the financial crisis." Scary! Accessible, urgent, and often darkly ironic, the film is both a cautionary tale and a call for accountability—cutting through the noise to expose a system built on speculation, influence, and belief rather than truth. McKenzie explores cryptocurrency in his directorial debut, moving from curiosity to exposing harsh truths. This film educates and entertains while delivering a powerful critique of the crypto world. With appearances by Morena Baccarin (McKenzie's wife), Gerard Butler, Alex Mashinky, Sam Bankman-Fried, Nayib Bukele, and others. This looks like a must watch. // Continue Reading ›

"The sets need to be able to perform with him. And give him things to do. That has always been one of our mantras on the film." Step inside the Hail Mary set where Ryan Gosling performed making this stunning sci-fi movie. Fellow geek Adam Savage has debuted a series of videos on his YT channel "Adam Savage's Tested" recently featuring his visit to the set of Phil Lord & Chris Miller's movie Project Hail Mary. With the release worldwide this month, they're finally allowed to show us what it was like on set. So much of this movie was made by hand with as little green screen as possible. Adapted from Andy Weir's acclaimed novel of the same name, this is the story of a teacher turned astronaut who tries to save Earth while alone in outer space. The movie stars Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, who wakes up on a spacecraft at Tau Ceti and has to figure out how to save our stars with the help of a new friend. This video features Adam Savage talking with production designer Charles Wood (aka "Charlie") who then takes him on a tour of the production - from model to sound stage. Charlie explains how the Boeing 747-8 button design inspired the buttons on this set, along with everything else about how it works. This is awesome! "If you want to live, I suggest you leave this town immediately." "Or I can stand here and fight for what's mine." 36 Cinema + Variance has debuted their official trailer for a film titled One Spoon of Chocolate, a new movie from filmmaker The RZA. This premiered last year at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival but hasn't been given a final release yet. After playing on the festival circuit it's set to open in US theaters this May - now presented by Quentin Tarantino. He states: "As a filmmaker, RZA really brought home the bacon on an old-school, foot-to-ass, Revenge-a-matic! This picture drives audiences wild wherever it screens. We’ll sell you a whole seat, but you’ll only use the edge of it." An ex-military convict seeks a fresh start in a small town, but his past catches up as he finds love amidst danger and chaos. RZA's One Spoon of Chocolate stars Shameik Moore in the lead role as the character Unique, joined by Blair Underwood, RJ Cyler, Paris Jackson, Emyri Crutchfield, Michael Harney, and Harry Goodwins. This looks rad - an invigorating story about one guy fighting back against corruption and racism and all the assholes who run this town he's in. Official Trailer for Lucrecia Martel's 'Our Land' Doc About Argentina
"We are still here." Strand Releasing debuted the official trailer for a documentary film titled Our Land, a fascinating new doc from Argentinian filmmaker Lucrecia Martel. This originally premiered last year at the 2025 Venice Film Festival and it also screened at the Toronto, London, San Sebastian, Vancouver, New York, and Chicago Film Festivals. Acclaimed Argentinean filmmaker Lucrecia Martel (known for Zama, The Headless Woman) takes a sweeping approach to this tragic true story, triangulating the murder trial of 3 men, the lives of activist Chocobar and his fellow Chuchagasta people, and the centuries-old, colonialist legacy of land and property theft across Latin America. It's a comprehensive look at this specific case and the court proceedings in Argentina as they try to get justice for what happened to one of the locals. Martel adds: "This film addresses our mother tongue's racist mechanisms, which deny many access to vital space. The language of documents — lives lost to dubious papers and futile bureaucracy. A historical document is a script for a non-existent scene, serving its signers." Out in limited US theaters in May coming up. See below. // Continue Reading ›

Watch: Daniel Blumberg Scoring the 'Pompei: Below the Clouds' Doc
Take a listen. Mubi has debuted a fascinating new making of featurette for the film titled Pompei: Below the Clouds, the latest compelling observational documentary by the Italian filmmaker Gianfranco Rosi. It's an 8 minute look at Oscar winning composer Daniel Blumberg crafting this very unique lo-fi score, comprised more of sounds than melodies. The film initially premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival last year, under the name Sotto le nuvole (just Below the Clouds) to many excellent reviews (view the trailer) and acclaim. It's a special cinematic B&W portrait of life in the city of Naples, Italy in the south. Naples is a city forever marked by the looming presence of Mount Vesuvius (which destroyed Pompeii back in 79 AD). Beneath the quiet threat of eruption, people go about their days: archaeologists unearth the past, children learn as the earth hums, firefighters wait for the next call. "Below the clouds lies a territory criss-crossed by inhabitants, worshippers, tourists and archaeologists excavating the past — and by those who, in museums, strive to give new life and meaning to statues, fragments and ruins." Currently playing in US theaters this month. The full album Blumberg created will be out in April. One of my favorite new composers in cinema. // Continue Reading ›

Asa Butterfield & Jaeden Martell in 'Our Hero, Balthazar' Official Trailer
"I thought if you had an IRL friend you wouldn't do it." Picturehouse has unveiled the full official trailer for an acclaimed indie dark comedy film titled Our Hero, Balthazar, made by filmmaker Oscar Boyson as his feature debut after many other short films. This originally premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival last year, and it also played at the Vancouver, Adelaide, Tallgrass, Rome Film Festivals as well. Eager to impress his activist crush, a wealthy New York teenager follows an online connection to Texas, where he's convinced he can stop an act of extreme violence. An extra dark comedy about young men in America – and how crazy and cooked so many of these kids are these days. Featuring a transformative co-lead performance from Asa Butterfield (Uh WTF that's really him?! Wow!!), the film also stars Jaeden Martell, with Chris Bauer, Jennifer Ehle, Anna Baryshnikov, Noah Centineo, Becky Ann Baker, Avan Jogia, and Pippa Knowles. This definitely looks edgy & dangerous, which is the point, to show us how things really are. It's also quite similar to Sovereign from last year. This will open in limited US theaters at the end of this month. // Continue Reading ›

Official Trailer for 'Mile End Kicks' - Barbie Ferreira Heads to Montreal
"I can't date two guys in the same band." Sumerian has unveiled the first official trailer for the Canadian coming-of-age comedy called Mile End Kicks, the second feature film written and directed by filmmaker Chandler Levack. Her feature debut was I Like Movies from 2022, this one is a similar follow-up but with a different spin. Barbie Ferreira plays Grace Pine, a 20-something music critic from Toronto who decides to upend her life and move to Montreal to cover the music scene there. But she romantically involved with two members of the same indie band she is covering. It takes place in Quebec's vibrant indie music scene in 2011. A bright romantic comedy featuring Barbie Ferreira as Grace, all about a young woman figuring out life and love while partying in Montreal. The cast includes Devon Bostick, Stanley Simons, Juliette Gariépy, and Jay Baruchel. I saw this last year at TIFF and alas I'm not a fan - it starts out interesting, but then she starts making such grating & strange choices it quickly becomes something else. It's an homage to Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous – but it just doesn't work, nor does it have any of that magnetic charm. // Continue Reading ›

Guy Ritchie's 'In The Grey' Trailer with Jake Gyllenhaal & Henry Cavill
"The work between the moral & the immoral. The black & the white." Black Bear has revealed the official trailer for the action comedy movie In The Grey, another new Guy Ritchie movie to watch in theaters soon. Last year he released Fountain of Youth which was a huge flop. This movie was made before and it originally was supposed to be done & released in 2025, but it was delayed then ultimately dropped by Lionsgate. Black Bear (also the producers) will give it a full release on their own in theaters starting in May. Two agents and a woman team up to get hold of millions of dollars in stolen money. But these extraction specialists must also plan a route of escape for the female negotiator while fleeing with all the cash. It was filmed entirely on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, which you can tell from all of this footage since it just looks like the same place over & over. Ritchie's In The Grey stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Kristofer Hivju, Emmett J. Scanlan, Jason Wong, Michael Vu, with Fisher Stevens, Rosamund Pike, and Carlos Bardem. I'm not sure why Ritchie is making nothing but lackluster, forgettable action movies nowadays despite once being a good filmmaker. Alas this just doesn't look like it'll be worth the wait. // Continue Reading ›

Stunning Teaser for Sci-Fi Animation 'Cosmo Princess' by Quentin Rgx
Whoa! This is awesome. Get a look this stunning teaser for an animation project in the works called Cosmo Princess, created by an animation filmmaker in France named Quentin Rigaux (also known as Quentin Rgx on YouTube). This teaser debuted last year but we're only catching up with it now - thanks to a tip from Cartoon Brew recently. It's now being turned into a full-on 90 minute feature film by one of the producers of Flow, and he's shopping it around & presenting it at markets to build up interest & get financing to develop it. Cosmo Princess is handmade 2D animation project with a style that is reminiscent of grainy, old school epic sci-fi animation from the 70s & 80s. Here's the basic story intro: "Sometime, somewhere in the endless cosmos, a lost astronaut and cosmic princess collide. His hope: to return home. Hers: to escape her destiny of becoming a star. Fascinated by his tales of 'Earth,' she helps him find his way back, hoping to find refuge herself." It looks amazing and I'm glad someone is letting Quentin turn this into an actual movie. I cannot wait to see more footage! Reminds me of animation like they used to make, but don't make much anymore. // Continue Reading ›

Amusing Trailer for 'The Other Bennet Sister' Awkward Comedy Series
"The most important thing is to be yourself." BBC has unveiled their trailer for a fun comedy series called The Other Bennet Sister, which will be streaming in the UK on BBC later this month. A romantic comedy about one of the other Bennet sisters in the big family from Jane Austen's iconic novel Pride and Prejudice. The Other Bennet Sister offers a fresh take on one of Austen's most unassuming characters: Mary Bennet. Forced to step out of her sisters' shadows, Mary embarks on a journey of self-discovery – finding love, and most importantly herself, along the way. Mary leaves her sisters' shadows to find herself, embarking on a journey from Meryton to London and the Lake District. Her quest for independence leads to an unexpected love story in Regency-era England. Starring Ella Bruccoleri as Mary Bennet, with Ruth Jones as Mrs Bennet, Richard E. Grant as Mr Bennet, Indira Varma, Richard Coyle, Laurie Davidson, & Dónal Finn as Mr Hayward. It seems like a kooky, clever twist on the usual Jane Austen stories on screen.
