Official Trailer for Giuseppe Tornatore's Doc About Ennio Morricone

"I never thought that music would be my destiny." Ennio! The maestro! Dogwoof has released an official trailer for the documentary film titled Ennio, a biopic doc about the legendary Italian film composer Ennio Morricone. This was in the works for years already, but it was only finished after Ennio passed away in late 2020. The film premiered at last year's Venice Film Festival, and also played at IDFA in the fall. A portrait of one of the most popular and prolific film composers of the twentieth century, Ennio celebrates the life and legacy of Ennio Morricone, featuring never-before-seen archival footage and interviews with renowned filmmakers and musicians including Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Quentin Tarantino and Clint Eastwood. They gave it a different title in English - The Glance of Music - which just sounds weird and doesn't quite capture the magic of Morricone. He's a genius! I saw this at Venice last year in its original 3-hour form, and it's packed with interviews, conversations, insight into what made Ennio so special, and candid moments with him during interviews. It's an absolute must watch film if you love Morricone and his iconic music. ›››

Gorgeous First Trailer for Kore-eda's New Cannes 2022 Film 'Broker'

Cine maldito in Spain has revealed the first official teaser trailer for Broker, the latest film from acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda. He already won the coveted Palme d'Or prize in Cannes a few years ago for his beloved film Shoplifters (which also went on to win the Oscar), and he's back again this year. Kore-eda's latest film is premiering in competition at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival next month under the title Broker. This is the first time he has made a film in Korea in the Korean language, and it seems he was quite moved by Parasite - the film stars Song Kang-Ho (!!) and was shot by cinematographer Kyung-pyo Hong (of Mother, Snowpiercer, Burning, Parasite). The film revolves around characters associated with baby boxes, which allow infants to be dropped off anonymously to be cared for by others. One alternate title for the film is Baby, Box, Broker, but they've shortened it for release. The cast features Song Kang-Ho with Gang Dong-Won, Bae Doona, IU, and Lee Joo-Young. This is a gorgeous first look - definitely another strong Palme contender for this year. No English subs yet, but you can enjoy this first look anyway. ›››

First Look Teaser for Netflix's Series 'Love, Death + Robots Volume 3'

"Extreming soon." Who's ready for more?!?! I loveeeee this animated series from Netflix - more more more. Keep these coming for years, please! Netflix has revealed a fun teaser for their next installment of Love, Death + Robots. This Volume 3 teaser doesn't contain any finished footage yet from the next 8 shorts - it's only an amusing "look back" at the first two installments, with some clever Netflix self-mockery in the opening intro. Just because they're the same "studio" that gave us dainty series like "Bridgerton" doesn't mean they can't also bring epic, gnarly, disgusting, crazy concepts to the screen, too! Hell yes! This third installment was announced at the same time as Volume 2 last year, and also features eight new short films to enjoy - starting in May. "From uncovering an ancient evil to a comedic apocalypse, telling startling short stories of fantasy, horror & science-fiction." That's all we know so far about these next eight - along with a set of images below. I'm already so excited to watch! They always explore the most creative, intriguing ideas. ›››

First Trailer for Apple TV+'s Thriller Series 'Now & Then' Set in Miami

"What do I know? I haven't heard from you in 20 years." Apple has revealed an official trailer for a series titled Now & Then, a "multi-layered thriller" that will be streaming on Apple TV+ starting in late May next month. Set in Miami and shot in both Spanish and English, Now & Then stars an exceptional ensemble cast, including Academy Award nominees Marina de Tavira & Rosie Perez, Ariel Award winner José María Yazpik, multi-Goya Award winner Maribel Verdú, Manolo Cardona, Goya Award winner Soledad Villamil, Emmy Award winner Željko Ivanek, with Jorge López, Alicia Jaziz, Dario Yazbek Bernal, Alicia Sanz, Jack Duarte, and Miranda de la Serna. The lives of a group of college best friends are forever changed after a celebratory weekend ends up with one of them dead. 20 years later, the remaining five are reluctantly reunited by a threat that puts their seemingly perfect worlds at risk. "Nothing like it has ever been on Endor before. It came for the thrill of the hunt." Witness the great battle between two ultimate space creatures - the great Predator and the adorable Ewoks. This fun, fan made short film is 90 seconds of geeky, movie bliss. Filmmaker-comedian Matt Highton put together this amazing little video called Ewoks VS. Predator, and it is exactly as described in that title. He mashes up footage from both movies in a perfect way to actually give give us an entertaining almost-two-minutes of sci-fi goodness. As someone on Twitter said, "Ewoks finally have a worthy adversary…" So true. Now I want to see more of this! If Matt can make something this amusing and hilarious out of just a few bits of footage, I wonder how many other awesome video mashups there could be having the Ewoks battle anyone from any other galaxy. ›››

Another Endless Cornfield Horror Thriller - 'Escape the Field' Trailer

"There is no way out." Lionsgate has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror film titled Escape the Field, marking the feature debut of writer / director Emerson Moore. It's arriving to watch in early May for those curious to find out what's going on. The fear is inescapable in this horror-thriller about six strangers who suddenly awaken in a remote, endless cornfield. Stripped of their possessions, they are left with only six items: a gun with a single bullet, matches, a lantern, a knife, a compass, a flask of water. Escape the Field is the second major "stuck in an endless field" movie, following Vincenzo Natali's In the Tall Grass in 2019. This one looks like it has a few more twists, and seems a bit more like Cube or Saw or an Escape Room than Natali's supernatural thriller. Starring Jordan Claire Robbins, Theo Rossi, Tahirah Sharif, Julian Feder, Elena Juatco, and Shane West. I'm a sucker for these - I always want to find out what's going on. ›››
