Emilia Clarke & Haley Lu Richardson in 'PONIES' 70s Spy Series Trailer

"This job demands sacrifice - most people are not cut out for it" Peacock has revealed an official trailer for a new spy thriller-comedy series, inspired by a true story, called PONIES - out to watch in January 2026. Debuting one month from now. PONIES atually stands for "persons of no interest" in intelligence services lingo. Set in 1977, two secretaries working at the American embassy in Moscow become CIA operatives after their husbands die under mysterious circumstances. Emilia Clarke is an over-educated, Russian-speaking child of Soviet immigrants. Her cohort is Twila, played by Haley Lu Richardson, is a small-town girl who is as abrasive as she is fearless. Together, the two ladies work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows in the first place. The 8-part espionage thriller series also stars Adrian Lester, Artjom Gilz, Nicholas Podany, Petro Ninovskyi, and Vic Michaelis. Even though it takes place in Moscow, it was filmed in Budapest, Hungary earlier this year. I dig the levity in it. And these two women have off-the-charts chemistry that makes this series seem especially entertaining. Worth a look. // Continue Reading ›

Official Trailer for Cheesy 'Grizzly Night' Animal Horror About a Bear

"We can't risk any more lives!" "Same every year..." Saban Films has unveiled an official trailer for an indie horror movie creature feature called Grizzly Night, which is I guess a play on the other word "grisly" since the result is a very grisly night of angry bear injuries. Unfortunately this doesn't look as fun as Cocaine Bear. Instead, it joins the trend of really bad, instantly forgettable animal horror movies (with the upcoming Primate being the exception). On August 12th, 1967, in Montana's Glacier National Park, the unthinkable happened: On the same night, nine miles apart, there were not one-but two-fatal grizzly bear attacks. This is the story of what happened. Starring Charles Esten, Oded Fehr, Lauren Call, Joel Johnstone, Josh Zuckerman, Matt Lintz, Ali Skovbye, Sophia Gray, with Brec Bassinger and Jack Griffo. Alas this looks pretty bad. The only grizzly movie I recommend is still Herzog's classic doc Grizzly Man - not this one. // Continue Reading ›

Dumb Official Trailer for 'Killer Whale' Orca Whale Survival Horror Film

"She thinks she's still trapped in captivity!" 🐳 Lionsgate has debuted an official trailer for a very dumb new horror movie called Killer Whale, an Orca spin on the usual shark movie with all the same tropes. Step aside Free Willy, this one ain't your friendly killer whale! The story follows best friends Maddie and Trish as they find themselves trapped in a remote lagoon with the dangerous killer whale named Ceto. Their peaceful retreat soon becomes a terrifying fight to stay alive when the ocean's most bloodthirsty predator seeks vengeance for a brutal life in captivity. Get 'em, Ceto! Killer Whale stars Virginia Gardner, Mel Jarnson, and Mitchell Hope. It's a lot like these shark movies such as The Shallows, The Reef, or Open Water, but with a few of its own twists. While I don't enjoy seeing the beautiful Orcas be turned into villains, I'll let it slide for one horror movie. Alas it looks awful – even the CGI seems worse than most shark movies. Oh well. // Continue Reading ›

First Look Teaser for Dual 'De Gaulle' Movies Starring Simon Abkarian

"When our hearts go boom, the whole world goes boom, and stirs up rage." France's Path revealed an epic teaser for a dual set of movies about the iconic French president Charles de Gaulle. Yes – the same man that the Paris airport is named after. French filmmaker Antonin Baudry directs two back-to-back movies called De Gaulle: Tilting Iron & De Gaulle: The Sovereign Edge which will arrive in French theaters next summer - in June & July. Literally back-to-back, which is the proper way to do it when you have two movies like this (instead of waiting or year or two inbetween them). A two-part film about Charles de Gaulle - a French general & statesman who led the Free French Forces against Nazi Germany & Vichy France in WWII and chaired the Provisional Government of the French Republic from 1944 to 1946 to restore democracy in France. The two films will follow De Gaulle's life & political commitment between 1940 and 1945, and trace his development towards a political career. Starring Simon Abkarian as de Gaulle, with a huge ensemble cast including Simon Russell Beale, Florian Lesieur, Benoît Magimel, Mathieu Kassovitz, Loïc Corbery de la Comédie-Française, Anamaria Vartolomei, Niels Schneider, Félix Kysyl, & Karim Leklou. Bob Odenkirk is a Regular Guy Who Will Fight Back in 'Normal' Trailer

"Why are they shooting at you?!" Good question! Magnolia Pictures has unveiled the first teaser trailer for the action thriller movie Normal, about a normal guy who fights back against a corrupt town. From great genre director Ben Wheatley (who last made Meg 2: The Trench) comes this new thriller in the same vein as John Wick and Nobody before it - and it also happens to be written by the same guy who created those two franchises. Bob Odenkirk stars as Sheriff Ulysses who takes over a post in a quaint small town. But when a botched bank robbery interrupts the municipality's tranquil pace, a sordid secret is inadvertently exposed and Ulysses learns that the town is anything but its namesake... Suddenly everyone is trying to shoot the sheriff, even his own deputies, and our put-upon policeman must rely on his affable mettle and some motley crooks if he is to survive the night. The film also stars Lena Heady, Henry Winkler, Ryan Allen, Billy MacLellan, Brendan Fletcher, Reena Jolly, Peter Shinkoda, Jess McLeod, and many others. This looks like an even meaner Fargo meets Nobody! Which should be wild fun - this is a terrific first look teaser. // Continue Reading ›

New Zealand Nuns on a Road Trip Comedy 'Holy Days' Official Trailer

"You've got a family... A family that's waiting for you." Rialto Distribution has revealed an official trailer for a charming New Zealand comedy film called Holy Days, about nuns who go on a road trip. This already premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival a few months ago and will be out in New Zealand cinemas in February - though we still have no idea when it will arrive in the US to watch. A lost boy in search of heaven, three odd nuns on a mission, a car powered by God (and stolen money). This is a road trip like no other. A comedic near-tragedy that just keeps going South. Holy Days follows young Brian on a heartwarming quest to retrieve his late mother from heaven. With only the clue that his mother is on a snowy mountain, Brian teams up with 3 elderly nuns; Sisters Agnes (Judy Davis), Mary Clare (Jacki Weaver), & Luke (Miriam Margolyes). Their reluctant partnership blossoms into a strong bond as they embark on this emotional, once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Also starring Elijah Tamati as Brian and director Nat Boltt. Well this looks fantastic! Just the right amount of kooky & heartfelt, with plenty of gorgeous views of New Zealand as well. // Continue Reading ›

So Perfect Together: Alexander Skarsgard + Stellan Skarsgard Convo

"My dream was for my family to be normal and fit in." These two! Love them! Variety has debuted one of the best "Actors on Actors" conversations they've ever recorded for this year's awards season. It features father & son actors Alexander Skarsgård & Stellan Skarsgård discussing their films, their acting work, their family and so much more. Stellan Skarsgård is a beloved Swedish actor who has 8 kids in total - one of them is Alexander Skarsgård, along with his brothers Bill Skarsgård & Gustaf Skarsgård who are also actors. What I adore about this conversation is that it's playful and honest and open - but also still fun and amusing and obviously jokey. When you put two actors in a room together, they're going to riff, and some of this is not to be taken seriously. That said, I appreciate how deep they get chatting about acting. Variety has been making these "Actors on Actors" videos for years and years they're always good to watch, but this one gets a special mention. I think they captured a genuine spark between them that makes it seriously special - enjoy. // Continue Reading ›
