First Trailer for Audrey Diwan's 'Emmanuelle' Starring Noémie Merlant

Pathe in France has revealed the first official trailer for the new take on Emmanuelle, an erotic drama inspired by Emmanuelle Arsan's beloved novel. It was already adapted once before into a film in 1974, also titled Emmanuelle, though this is a fresh vision. From the Golden Lion winning filmmaker of Happening comes a new Emmanuelle, starring the French actress Noémie Merlant as the woman on a trip to Hong Kong exploring her sexual desires. Loosely adapted from Arsan's novel, director Audrey Diwan's film follows a woman flying alone to Hong Kong on a business trip where she initiates numerous encounters including with Kei, a man who constantly eludes her. Merlant co-stars with Naomi Watts, Will Sharpe, Jamie Campbell Bower, Chacha Huang, Anthony Wong, among others. Oddly the film is skipping this year's Venice Film Festival, despite Diwan's win a few years ago, and it will instead premiere at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain this fall. In this doc film, a Nepali mountaineer risks everything on a record-breaking Everest climb to secure a brighter future for her daughters. It tells the story of a tenacious woman named Lhakpa Sherpa. Technically, she is not the first Nepalese woman to climb Everest – that honor goes to Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, however she died during her descent. Lhakpa is the first Nepalese woman to summit and descend - and she has since devoted her life to empowering girls. Which is prime-time holiday season for crowd-pleasing holiday movies like this. It's adapted from the beloved book of the same name by Barbara Robinson – about a set of 6 rowdy kids who nearly ruin Christmas, teaching everybody some lessons about love thy neighbor. Nobody is ready for the mayhem & surprises that ensue when 6 of the worst youngsters disrupt the town's yearly Christmas performance. The actual pageant is full of surprises for everyone, starting with the Herdmans themselves, as they ultimately lead the town in finding the true meaning of Christmas. They will make this year’s pageant the most unusual anyone has seen and, just possibly, the best ever. Looks like tons of fun. This comedy stars Judy Greer, Pete Holmes, Elizabeth Tabish, and Lauren Graham, with Stephanie Sy and Kirk B.R. Woller. Childish Gambino + RCA Records have finally revealed an official trailer for the secret film titled Bando Stone & The New World, a brand new cinematic creation from Donald Glover. The film is directed & scored by Glover, who also goes under the name "Childish Gambino" when creating music. It's also a promo for the release of his upcoming album - which will feature the song "Lithonia", which is heard in this first trailer. Glover, who also directed a few episodes of his own TV series "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" & "Atlanta", co-stars in this with Jessica Allain. He plays the titular Bando Stone who is found "trying to deliver mail in an abandoned town before crossing paths with one of the only other people around, played by Allain. The two decide to band together, along with Allain's child, to survive monsters, dinosaurs, sci-fi lasers, and more." Not much else is known about this for now - including whether it will play in theaters or debut online or what. Looking damn good! I really dig the gigantic laser cube. The Critic is a deliciously dark & sharp-witted thriller, written by Patrick Marber and featuring an all-star British cast including Ian McKellen, Gemma Arterton, Mark Strong, Ben Barnes, Alfred Enoch, Romola Garai, and Lesley Manville. Wow. Set in 1930s London, revolves around a feared theatre critic named Jimmy Erskine, his loyal assistant, a newspaper owner who wants to get rid of the critic and an actress who has been devastated by the excoriating theatrical reviews. HBO Trailer for 'Quad Gods' Doc About a Quadriplegic Esports Team

"I lost one identity, and the 'real me' came out." HBO has unveiled an official trailer for a documentary film titled Quad Gods, the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Jess Jacklin. This recently premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival in NYC last month, and it will be be streaming on Max later in July for everyone to watch. Quad Gods follows the lives of a group of New Yorkers with quadriplegia who meet in a neuro-rehabilitation lab at Mount Sinai Hospital and create the world's first all-quadriplegic Esports team. "I have become the person I was meant to be." The film follows Richard, Blake, and Prentice – the world's first all-quadriplegic e-sports team – as they navigate life in New York City, confront ableism, and pursue their dreams to compete as athletes.
