Indonesian Comedy 'Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens' Official Netflix Trailer

"I hope we can be together again. And hopefully soon." Netflix has unveiled a new trailer for an Indonesian indie comedy titled Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens, which is the final release title after switching between Ali & The Queens, or Ratu Ratu Queens. After his father's passing, a teenager from Indonesia sets out for New York City in search of his estranged mother and soon finds love and connection in unexpected places. He discovers that there are many different ways to finding the real meaning of family. The film stars Iqbaal Ramadhan as Ali, along with Nirina Zubir, Tika Panggabean, Welas Asri, Happy Salma, Marissa Anita, and Aurora Ribero. This looks charming and amusing, and I dig all the little hand-drawn touches. Another story of leaving your home country and then reconnecting in unexpected ways. This is worth a look. ›››

Indie Comedy 'Some of Our Stallions' Trailer About a Zany Friendship

"I feel like I'm bothering your friend…" Gravitas Ventures has unveiled an official trailer for a wacky indie comedy titled Some of Our Stallions, the latest from filmmaker Carson Mell. This buddy comedy-drama comes from the filmmakers behind Brigsby Bear, Silicon Valley, and Jay & Silent Bob Reboot. When best friends Beautiful Bill and Andy, newly released from a mandatory stint at a mental hospital, struggle to fit into regular society, Bill decides they need romantic love. This kicks off a years-long series of misadventures that challenge not only their friendship, but their grasp on sanity. Carson Mell (Silicon Valley, Eastbound and Down) wrote and directed the film in which he also stars alongside Al Di and Olivia Taylor Dudley; also joined by Tim Heidecker, David Zellner, Stefan Djuric, and Mike Judge. This looks way more complex and zanier than expected, with some impressively witty humor and three great lead performances. ›››

Official Trailer for Hypnotic New York City Romance 'Finding Ophelia'

Sometimes finding the girl of your dreams can be a nightmare… Indie Rights has released an official trailer for a very tiny independent film titled Finding Ophelia, made entirely by filmmaker Stephen Rutterford. "Experience a quixotic new nightmare when writer/director Stephen Rutterford's horror-mystery Finding Ophelia premieres on digital this June." Jimmy Levar stars as William Edgar, a NYC adverting exec who inhabits a strange dream-like reality. His obsession with a mysterious woman leads down a bizarre path full of signs and wonders. This also stars Christina Chu as Ophelia, with Alexandra Lyon, J.J. Crowne, Gabriella Whiting, and Makinley Patterson. I wish more of the film was rotoscoped like the poster art, because this looks more like a personal artistic project than a feature film. Still curious to see more footage. ›››

First Trailer for 'The Justice of Bunny King' with Thomasin McKenzie

"What's your plan now, Bunny?" Protagonist Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for a New Zealand indie drama titled The Justice of Bunny King, from filmmaker Gaysorn Thavat making her feature directorial debut. This is premiering at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival kicking off in just a few weeks - hence the new trailer to build some buzz. Described as a "triumph over adversity tale" about women fighting their way back from the bottom of society. Essie Davis (from The Babadook) stars as Bunny King, who wants nothing more than to be reunited with her two children who've been placed in foster care. But things get even harder when she has to take care of her teenage niece Tonya, played by Thomasin McKenzie (from Leave No Trace & Jojo Rabbit). Also starring Ryan O'Kane, Erroll Shand, Angus Stevens, and Amelie Baynes. These two lead actors make this a must see film anyway, and this first look footage looks promising as well. ›››

Official Trailer for Strange Dark Mystery Thriller 'Caveat' on Shudder

"Do you think he's going to let you leave there?" Shudder has released an official trailer for a strange Irish dark mystery thriller titled Caveat, which first premiered at the IndieCork Film Festival in Ireland last fall. It begins streaming on Shudder in a few weeks. How's this for a terrifying premise: A lone drifter suffering from partial memory loss accepts a job to look after a psychologically troubled woman in an abandoned house on an isolated island. Uhh. "A tense, slow-building cat-and-mouse thriller set in the Irish countryside, Caveat’s stunning atmospheric visuals and unforgettable ending come together to make a bold debut for Mc Carthy and a compelling new entry to the psychological horror genre." Starring Jonathan French, Leila Sykes, and Ben Caplan. That weird dead rabbit puppet drummer doll thing is creepy as hell, my goodness. ›››
