Watch: Short Doc Film 'Eric and the Bees' About Healing with Bees

"I hear that buzz… they take that anxiety away." Another short about bees! The more, the merrier. Because bees are the cutest lil' buzz boys. Eric and the Bees is a short film produced by Zendesk to highlight the power of helpfulness. After serving 20 years in the US military, Eric Grandon retired to his family farm in West Virginia, but he was haunted by his experiences in combat. After a particularly harrowing flashback, he was diagnosed with PTSD. Beekeeping was first used as rehab for soldiers suffering 'shell shock' after the First World War. Finding himself suddenly at peace, Eric knew he had to help others. Now, he invites other veterans and first-line responders to his farm so they can experience the healing powers of beekeeping. This is a wonderful short not only about how great bees are, but how great it is to share your passion with others. ›››

'What Lies West' Official Trailer with Nicolette Ellis & Chloe Moore

"We're not lost!" "Are we lost…?" Passion River Films has released an official trailer for What Lies West, an indie dramedy about two friends from filmmaker Jessica Ellis making her feature directorial debut. What Lies West is a contemporary coming-of-age film set in the midst of a lush northern California summer. New grad Nicolette is desperate for work, so she takes a summer job "babysitting" a 16-year-old charge who's suffocating under her mother's over-protective rules. Together, they set out on their biggest adventure yet: a four-day hike from the backwoods of Sonoma County to the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Starring Nicolette Ellis & Chloe Moore, with Jack Vincenty, Sionne Elise, Beverly Simmons, Jeff Prater, and Anna Peterson. This looks too much like a student film, but it still has some genuine charm to it from this trailer. ›››

Watch: Exploring Tarkovsky's Use of Time in Relation to the Pandemic

"The days are long and the years are short." Cinema is beautiful art form because filmmakers can alter and manipulate time in many ways - good and bad. The Nerd Writer has made a video called Time, Tarkovsky and The Pandemic and he continues exploring is thoughts about how the pandemic has warped our sense (and understanding) of time. He connects this to the work of Soviet filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky who is a master of using time in unique ways. I quite like the quote he includes from Tarkovsky: "What is a frame, the interval between 'Action' and 'Cut'? Film fixes reality in a sense of time—it's a way of conserving time. No other art form can fix and stop time like this. Film is a mosaic made up of time." Watch the video below. ›››

Official Trailer for 'Moby Doc' Film Profiling the Electronica Musician

"Everything I'd ever wanted had been given to me, but I had never been more depressed." Greenwich Ent. has debuted an official trailer for the documentary titled Moby Doc, which is indeed a film about the life of famous EDM musician Moby. Moby has been publishing a few autobiographical books about his life over the past few years, and now they've put together a documentary about his life as well. The film is described as "a surrealist biographical documentary about trailblazing electronic musician and animal rights activist Moby." Using a blend of quirky reenactments, archival footage, and interviews with people like David Bowie, David Lynch and Shepard Fairey, Moby narrates the film going from his punk rock roots to his heights of his celebrity to his eventual peace with existential questions… a "raw look at addiction, his former obsession with fame, depression" and more. I've always been a huge fan of Moby and his music, and I'm fascinated by his outlook on life. Plus I love how this starts with that hard truth about happiness. A must watch trailer. ›››

First Trailer for Thriller 'Things Heard & Seen' with Amanda Seyfried

"Everything in the natural world, has a counterpart in the spiritual realm." Netlfix has revealed an official trailer for a mysterious thriller titled Things Heard & Seen, from filmmakers Shari Springer Berman & Robert Pulcini (of American Splendor, The Nanny Diaries, Girl Most Likely, 10,000 Saints). A Manhattan couple moves to a historic hamlet up in the Hudson Valley and come to discover that their marriage has a sinister darkness, one that rivals their new home's history. Oooh. Based on the acclaimed novel by Elizabeth Brundage. Amanda Seyfried and James Norton co-star, with Natalia Dyer, Alex Neustaedter, Rhea Seehorn, Michael O'Keefe, Karen Allen, Jack Gore, with F. Murray Abraham, James Urbaniak, and Ana Sophia Heger. At first glance, this looks like an American remake of Rebecca, about digging up skeletons in the closet once you marry and move. At least the talented Amanda Seyfried is leading this time. ›››

Post-Apocalyptic Mayhem in Trailer for Argentinian Action 'Scavenger'

"I need one last favor… I want you to find him, and finish him." Cleopatra Ent has released a new trailer for Scavenger, an Argentinian post-apocalyptic action thriller also known as Carroña in Spanish. This looks exxactly like an Argentinian reboot/remake of Mad Max, with so many of the same aesthetics and costumes and everything. In a post apocalyptic world with its own rules, Tisha, an assassin and organ dealer with a dark past, seeks revenge for a crime that marked her life. This opened in Argentina in 2019, and recently screened at popular genre festivals such as FrightFest in the UK and Obscura in Germany, among others. Starring Nayla Churruarin, Eric Fleitas, Sofia Lanaro, Rosa Cuenya Macedo, Jose Manuel Solis Vargas, and Gonzalo Tolosa. Looks like it might be an enjoyable homage to Mad Max, but that's about it. ›››
