US Trailer for True Crime Thriller 'The Night of the 12th' from France

"Where were you on October 12th?" Film Movement has revealed their official US trailer for this acclaimed French true crime drama titled The Night of the 12th. This was a big hit in France last year - it opened in July after premiering in Cannes, did very well at the box office, then went on to win 6 total César Awards (France's Oscars) including Best Film & Best Director. Now it's finally opening in the US starting in late May in art house theaters - check your local listings for info. It is said that every investigator has a crime that haunts them, a case that hurts him more than the others, without him necessarily knowing why. For Yohan that case is the murder of Clara in the town of Grenoble. It's a gritty mystery that's "both highly effective and brilliantly acted, where procedures and mindsets reveal a frayed society", posing uneasy questions about the male-dominated world of law enforcement, and their ability to handle the violent crimes routinely perpetrated against female victims. First Trailer for Mysterious French Film 'The Mountain' Set in the Alps

Unifrance has debuted an official trailer for a mysterious, intriguing film titled The Mountain, made by a French filmmaker named Thomas Salvador. Salvador also wrote and stars in this as the lead character, Pierre, who gets lost in the mountains after being pulled in by their magnificent mystery, and majesty. This first premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival in the Directors' Fortnight sidebar, but I didn't see it until the Sitges Film Festival in the fall - here's my full review. Pierre, a Parisian engineer, goes up in the Alps for his work. Irresistibly attracted by what surrounds him, he camps out alone high in the mountains and leaves behind his everyday life. Up there he meets Léa, a chef of an alpine restaurant, while strange glows glitter in the deep mountain. It takes place in Chamonix near Mont Blanc, in the French Alps, and everything changes when he notices these weird lights at night crawling around the mountains. It's set 64 years before Katniss Everdeen volunteered as tribute, and decades before Coriolanus Snow became the tyrannical President of Panem. Leading up to the 10th Hunger Games, Snow mentors and develops feelings for the female District 12 tribute, Lucy Gray. This is pretty much just Hunger Games all over again – but set in the past. Rachel Zegler (from Spielberg's West Side Story) stars as Lucy Gray Baird, and Tom Blyth (from "Billy the Kid") is co-starring as Coriolanus Snow. It's directed again by Francis Lawrence, who also made The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and the two Mockingjay movies. The full cast features Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage, Burn Gorman, Jason Schwartzman, Hunter Schafer, Fionnula Flanagan, and Ashley Liao. Wooden puppet stop-motion samurai awesomeness! A must watch! Hidari is a stop-motion animated film currently in development in Japan under the direction of Masashi Kawamura. The film recently finished a massive funding round on Kickstarter, and they've released a 5-minute pilot short to show everyone how this will look. IT RULES!! I've always been a fan of stop-motion, but I've never seen anything like this. The film tells the story of "Jingoro Hidari," a legendary Edo-era craftsman. All characters are made by wood & animated frame-by-frame, just like how Jingoro's wooden sculptures came to life in his stories. This short mixes dynamic action as seen in Japanimation, and the rich analog expressions of stop-motion. "As a kid who was raised watching films by Ray Harryhausen, Kihachiro Kawamoto, and Phil Tippett, I always dreamt about one day creating a long length stop-motion animation film." I'm 100% in. Memento Distribution in France has revealed the first official trailer for a film titled Red Island, the latest from acclaimed director Robin Campillo - best known for his AIDS drama 120BPM before this. That one first premiered at Cannes 2017, but his next one is skipping the festival entirely - which seems a bit strange. L'île Rouge, aka Red island, is set in the 1970s on the African island of Madagascar - taking place at one of the last French outposts at the end of their time as colonialists. The synopsis says it's about "soldiers and their families living through the last illusions of colonialism," with a very specific focus on a 10-year-old boy named Thomas, observing it all through young eyes. This look back at the origins of the iconic rock band Pink Floyd was co-directed by Hipgnosis founder Storm Thorgerson, who passed away in 2013, but is still credited as director for all his work over the years on this project. The film examines the relationship between Pink Floyd - the visionaries behind prog rock and British psychedelic music – and founding member Syd Barrett, who left the group before they met stardom. It was Syd who gave the group their moniker by combining the names of blues players – Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. Intimate interviews with band members David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Roger Waters uncover Barrett’s ongoing impact on the group. Tour de France Cycling Team Doc 'Enter the Slipstream' Official Trailer

"This is a sport about perseverance no matter what." Monument Releasing has debuted an official trailer for a cycling documentary film titled Enter the Slipstream, which is a actually a pretty cool title for a film about the world's best cyclists. The film opens in June this summer if anyone is interested. It follows the Education First (EF) Cycling Team as they navigate a turbulent 2020 season through the Tour de France, telling the individual stories of the ambitious riders, from the Colombian star Rigo Urán to rising up-and-comers and veteran teammates. With their superstar "Rigo" Urán coming back from a catastrophic injury, the USA's oldest professional cycling team must come together as they face the sport’s biggest contest: the Tour de France. Other riders featured in this include Dani Martinez, Sergio Higuita, TeJay van Garderen, and Neilson Powless. This is something that would direct to the bargain bin at Walmart back in the 90s, but now it's getting a direct-to-VOD release which is almost the same. A boy and his dog with bionic powers save a small town from two bumbling crooks. The mad scientist who invented the treasure-hunting dog wants to steal him back — along with the town’s famous sapphire! Can Gabe and Kylie protect the dog, guard the jewel, and save the town? Because the script is cheesy trash, you already know the answer is - yes, of course they can! The fun-for-all-ages comedy stars Dean Cain, Ezra Lerario, and Paul Wilson. I am honestly more worried about the Belgian Malinois doggie in this, hopefully they treated him/her well and didn't abuse him on the set. Netflix has revealed a first look teaser trailer for their adaptation of the acclaimed book All the Light We Cannot See, an epic World War II survival thriller. Directed by Shawn Levy (The Adam Project), the book has so much in it that they've split this into a four-part series - essentially two full movies that will play as a series on Netflix. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, All the Light We Cannot See tells the story of the extraordinary power of human connection.
