Dayo Okeniyi is Shields Green in Trailer for Historical Epic 'Emperor'

"You do this and you're dead!" "I'm already dead." Briarcliff Entertainment has debuted an official trailer for a historical epic film titled Emperor, yet another outlaw slave who fights back after escaping the chains. Dayo Okeniyi (from "Shades of Blue", Terminator Genisys, Run Sweetheart Run) stars in the true story of Shields "Emperor" Green, a descendant of African kings, who escapes to the north and fights back in hopes of freeing his family. The cast includes Naturi Naughton, Kat Graham, Mykelti Williamson, Keean Johnson, Mykelti Williamson, James Cromwell, Paul Scheer, along with Bruce Dern. We've seen these kind of films before, one of the most prominent being The Birth of a Nation, but it's still badass to see these stories brought to the screen. Pete Davidson in Red Band Trailer for 'Big Time Adolescence' Comedy

"Kids are supposed to make mistakes. That's what the whole point of being a kid is." Hulu has debuted an official trailer for the indie coming-of-age comedy Big Time Adolescence, which originally premiered in-competition at the Sundance Film Festival last year. It received mostly positive reviews, but didn't end up with tons of buzz coming out of the fest. Hulu has dropped a red band trailer, in addition to a regular one, and will be releasing this in a few limited theaters before it's available streaming on Hulu. Griffin Gluck stars as Mo, a shy teenager who "comes of age" under the destructive guidance of his best friend, an aimless college dropout. Co-starring comedian Pete Davidson as his friend Zeke, with Sydney Sweeney, Colson Baker, Emily Arlook, and Jon Cryer. It's a good modern comedy, not the best, but it's pretty damn good. ›››

Official US Trailer for Fun Japanese Anime Film 'Children of the Sea'

"The entire ocean has begun moving." GKids has unveiled an official US trailer for the Japanese anime film titled Children of the Sea, which has been playing at a few film festivals last year (after initially opening in Japan in the summer). This is the latest feature made by Japan's Studio 4°C (known for Tekkonkinkreet, MFKZ, Mind Game, Animatrix, Batman: Gotham Knight, and others), and is directed by Ayumu Watanabe, with a score by award-winning composer and longtime Studio Ghibli collaborator Joe Hisaishi. The story involves a young girl named Ruka who is drawn into a mystery involving sealife around the world, in which two mysterious water-connected boys are involved. Of course, she falls in love with one of them. Starring the voices of Mana Ashida, Hiiro Ishibashi, Seishû Uragami, and Win Morisaki in the original version. It's a funky film, with a few quirky, odd moments, along with the usual cute, fun moments in so many anime films these days. If the visuals catch your eye, you might as well check out this film when it opens in spring. ›››

Radha Mitchell in Freaky Trailer for Bad Dreams Horror 'Dreamkatcher'

"You're both in danger, you need to destroy it!" Lionsgate has released an official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Dreamkatcher, which is indeed about a haunted dreamcatcher. Not to be confused with the other dreamcatcher horror (from 2003) titled, of course, Dreamcatcher (this new one has a "k" incase you didn't notice). In order to try and stop his bad dreams, a young boy steals a dreamcatcher from a mysterious neighbor forcing his family to rescue him from a nightmarish entity now chasing him. The film stars Radha Mitchell, Henry Thomas, Jules Willcox, Finlay Wojtak-Hissong as Josh, as well as horror regular Lin Shaye. This is being dropped straight-to-VOD and it definitely looks that bad. Full-Length Trailer for New 'Secret Garden' Film with Dixie Egerickx

"Follow me! There are even more secrets in this garden." Studiocanal UK revealed the full-length official trailer for a new film adapted from the beloved book titled The Secret Garden. We posted the lovely first teaser last fall, this latest trailer is also quite enthralling. This new take on the classic is directed by Marc Munden (Miranda, The Mark of Cain), and stars Dixie Egerickx (from "Genius", The Little Stranger, & "A Royal Winter") as Mary Lennox. It's about a young British girl born in India who returns to England as an orphan and discovers a magical garden hidden in her uncle's mansion. The book was adapted once before in 1993 into a movie starring Kate Maberly & Maggie Smith. The ensemble cast of this new adaptation includes Colin Firth, Maeve Dermody, Julie Walters, Jemma Powell, Amir Wilson, Sonia Goswami, and Edan Hayhurst. New UK Trailer for Indie Sci-Fi Film 'Vivarium' with Eisenberg & Poots

"This house is forever." Vertigo Releasing has debuted the official UK trailer for sci-fi psychological thriller Vivarium, which premiered at the Cannes FIlm Festival last summer. One of my favorite sci-fi creations from the last year. This fantastic "Black Mirror"-esque thriller has been playing on the festival circuit, and is arriving in theaters + on VOD next month. In search of a starter home, a young couple follow a mysterious estate agent to a nice home. There they find themselves trapped in a mysterious labyrinth-like neighborhood of identical houses. Jesse Eisenberg & Imogen Poots star, and it's pretty much just these two most of the film, along with Jonathan Aris, and Senan Jennings as the boy. Go see this! I said in my review that it's "clever and captivating… twisted, minimal sci-fi" done right. I know they need to promote it, but these trailers give away too much. If you love sci-fi as much as I do, just see it without watching any trailers first. ›››
