Dwayne Johnson Announces a Live-Action 'Moana' Movie in the Works

"When I bring Maui to life, I'm doing it in the spirit of my grandfather." Here we go again... Disney has revealed a fun video announcing a live-action version of Moana, the beloved Disney animated movie from 2016. The video Dwayne Johnson revealed in message from Hawaii in a video taped on the beach. There's not much info available yet, just that it's in production and they're beginning work on it. Dwayne Johnson will return to star as the demigod Maui, but the rest of the cast and the director and everything else has not been announced yet. Actress Auli'i Cravalho, who voices Moana in the original, will be back as an executive producer, but it's not expected that she will star in the lead role. "Humbled to say we're bringing Moana's beautiful story to the live action big screen! Save the Animals: Kid-Friendly Environmentalist Series 'Jane' Trailer

"Be like Jane." Apple TV+ has revealed an official trailer for an environmentalist series titled Jane, a fun-for-all-ages, kid friendly creation from TV director J.J. Johnson. The title is a reference to the legendary Jane Goodall, but it's also because the main character's name is also Jane. Ava Louise Murchison stars as Jane Garcia, a 9-year-old budding environmentalist on a quest to save endangered animals. Using her powerful imagination, Jane takes her best friends David, played by Mason Blomberg, and "Greybeard" the chimpanzee on epic adventures to help protect wild animals all around the world because, according to her idol Dr. Jane Goodall: "Only if we understand, will we care. Only if we care, will we help. Only if we help, can they be saved." The cast also includes Tamara Almeida, Dan Abramovici, newcomer Jazz Allen and Sam Marra. This looks like a wonderfully uplifting, charming series for kids to get used to saving and defending animals. Energetic First Trailer for DC's Mexican Superhero Movie 'Blue Beetle'

"It's some kid of world destroying weapon - it's design to protect its host. Sometimes it does want you want, and sometimes it doesn't." Warner Bros has revealed the official trailer for Blue Beetle, yet another superhero movie due out later this year, this one about a Mexican teenage superhero. This was originally a creation for the DCEU, but DC's new studio leader James Gunn has said the film would be "disconnected" from previous DCEU entries and could be made a part of the new franchise. A Mexican teenager finds an alien beetle that gives him super-powered armor and weapons. An origin story of Jaime Reyes learning what it means to become the Blue Beetle. The DC movie stars Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes, a teenager who gains superpowers when an alien Blue Beetle scarab grafts onto him, forming a powerful exoskeleton around his body. The main cast also includes Bruna Marquezine, Belissa Escobedo, George Lopez, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, Raoul Trujillo, and Susan Sarandon. Wow. "Sometimes you have to go south... to find home." Gravitas has revealed a trailer for an indie comedy titled Gringa, from filmmakers Marny Eng & E.J. Foerster - both were also working as second unit directors in Hollywood. The film recently premiered at the 2023 Cinequest Film Festival just last month, and will be out on VOD in just a few weeks. A troubled teenage girl runs away to Mexico after her mother passes away, to find the father that she has never known. She discovers him there, penniless, where they learn that a family can be put back together, even if all they have are the missing pieces. Steve Zahn plays the missing father, who seems to be a careless old surfer living right on the beach, coaching soccer for a job. "You don't know what they have planned for you..." Who's ready to meet more Skrulls? Marvel has unveiled a second official trailer for their upcoming Secret Invasion series, arriving for streaming on Disney+ in June this summer. The first trailer launched during D23 last year, this one doesn't give away much either. In the series, Nick Fury returns to Earth and teams up with Talos to prevent a Skrull invasion - the "Secret Invasion" since they are a race of aliens that can change into anyone. This crossover thriller focuses on the shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years. Samuel L. Jackson stars as Nick Fury, with Ben Mendelsohn also back as the Skrull warrior Talos, Don Cheadle as Rhodey, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, along with Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Martin Freeman, Dermot Mulroney, Carmen Ejogo, and Olivia Colman. This looks like a much darker, more mysterious series than most of what Marvel released before on D+. First Trailer for Canadian Indie Film 'Polarized' About LGBTQ Romance

"There's something going on between you two." Photon Films has revealed an official trailer for Canadian-British indie film titled Polarized, which just screened this weekend at the Canadian Film Fest in Toronto. Made and set in Canada, the LGBTQ drama is about an aspiring songwriter named Lisa, as played by Holly Deveaux. There's no US release set yet, so keep an eye out for this if you're interested. Lisa's farming family has suffered foreclosure and she is forced to work at a new 'urban farm' where she meets Dalia. Her casual racism leads her to be fired but the women end up drawn into a passionate affair. This also stars Maxine Denis as Dalia, with Tara Samuel, Elie Gemael, Hesham Hammoud, Darren Martens, Abraham Asto, Sandrella Mohanna, & Adam Hurtig.
