New Trailer for Korean Action Film 'The Roundup' with Ma Dong-seok

"You need a good ass whooping!" Madman Films has debuted the new Australian trailer for a Korean action movie called The Roundup, which is actually a sequel to 2017's The Outlaws, also about renegade cops. The film was already released in both South Korea and the US back in May earlier this year, but it was such a quiet release we never heard about it or posted a trailer back then. I caught up with the film at the Sitges Film Festival in October and it's a blast. Train to Busan star Ma Dong-seok leads this action crime film as "The Beast Cop" who heads to Vietnam to extradite a suspect. However, he discovers additional murder cases and learns about a killer who had committed crimes against tourists for many years. He gets caught up in even more crime and chaos trying to find and stop the criminals before they disappear once again. The cast also includes Sukku Son, Choi Gwi-hwa, Ji-hwan Park, Heo Dong-won, and Ha-Jun. Fire it up. ›››

Official Trailer for Mark Jenkin's Mysterious Island Horror 'Enys Men'

"Supremely disquieting " Neon has unveiled the first official US trailer for an indie British horror film titled Enys Men, the latest from acclaimed Cornish director Mark Jenkin, known for his indie hit Bait from a few years back. His latest creation premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival in the Directors' Fortnight sidebar, and I was lucky to catch the world premiere of it back in May. Very mysterious film. Set in 1973 on an uninhabited island off the Cornish coast, a wildlife volunteer's daily observations of a rare flower slowly turn into a metaphysical journey that forces her as well as the viewer to question what is real and what is nightmare. The film mainly stars Mary Woodvine as the volunteer working on the island, with a small cast including Edward Rowe and Flo Crowe. It's hard to describe this one – it's a lo-fi, grainy, quiet horror that is scarier to think about it than it is to watch, using editing and filmmaking tricks to make it unsettling. ›››

Nicolas Cage & Ryan Kiera Armstrong in Western 'The Old Way' Trailer

"Tell me the names of the men who did this." Saban Films + Lionsgate have revealed the official trailer for The Old Way, a western action thriller from a filmmaker named Brett Donowho (that can't be his real last name?). The marketing describes this as Nicolas Cage's first ever Western, which might just be true? Why not. An old gunslinger and his daughter must face the consequences of his past, when the son of a man he murdered years ago arrives to take his revenge. Another typical Western story involving a man with a past who must fight off those who came after him when they find him. Sounds like so many other films. Starring Nicolas Cage and Ryan Kiera Armstrong, with Noah Le Gros, Clint Howard, Kerry Knuppe, plus Nick Searcy & Shiloh Fernandez. This doesn't look so bad, doesn't look so good either. At least Cage has a glorious mustache!! And it looks like he is going to get sweet, sweet Old West revenge on these schmucks. ›››

Watch: Lovely 'Keep Our Oceans Amazing' Featurette for 'Avatar 2'

"Without significant change, more than half of the word's marine species may face extinction…" Save the oceans! 20th Century Studios has revealed a conservation featurette for the highly anticipated sci-fi sequel Avatar: The Way of Water, opening in theaters worldwide this December. This one is called "Keep Our Oceans Amazing" and it connects with a new website launched at the same time. Since most of the movie is set underwater and deals with taking care of all animals (on Pandora), the studio is doing a promotion where they will donate money to The Nature Conservancy non-profit group. All you have to do is visit the website, design a new fish (or ocean creature) and it will become a part of the virtual "Pandora Ocean". Apparently there are actual in-person locations you can visit and do this (as seen in this video) or you can do it online. The Way of Water ensemble cast features Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Kate Winslet, Sigourney Weaver, Bailey Bass, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Jack Champion, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, CCH Pounder, Joel David Moore. First Teaser Trailer for Pixar's 'Elemental' Movie Directed by Peter Sohn

Meet Wade. Meet Ember. Pixar has revealed the first teaser trailer for their latest movie, Elemental, a sort of spiritual follow-up to Pete Docter's Inside Out, though with entirely different characers. This movie is set in Element City, where fire-, water-, land- and air-residents live together. The story introduces Ember, a tough, quick-witted, fiery young woman, whose friendship with a fun, sappy, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in. Oh I'm curious to see where they're going with this! The voice cast features Leah Lewis as Ember, and Mamoudou Athie (one of my favorite actors on the rise!!) as Wade. From the director of The Good Dinosaur, with Pete Docter helping produce at Pixar Studios in Emeryville. This almost seems like a sequel to Sohn's short Partly Cloud more than anything (there are clouds from that seen in the trailer). Beautiful colors and vivid details in this. Can't wait to see more!! Review: 'The Menu' - Mark Mylod Serves Up a Deliciously Dark Satire

Order up!! This is my kind of delicious, spicy, brutal takedown satire. I knew I'd love it, at least I expected I might, so it was quite satisfying to discover that it lived up to my hopes. I'm glad cinema is serving up more and more films every year about how disgustingly awful rich people are. Yes, Parasite won Best Picture and that was a watershed moment, but more films like this are needed to shift society away from the obsession with thinking rich people are good people, and oh so successful and admirable. The Menu is yet another film like this, complimenting the three-course meal also offered up in Ruben Östlund's Palme d'or winner Triangle of Sadness earlier this year. Both of these films are wickedly hilarious, smart, bold films providing cathartic opportunities to make fun of and tear down and take out the wealthy trash. The Menu is about an extremely fancy dinner served on a private island at a restaurant that only serves 12 people per night. This night, the award-winning chef who runs it has had enough, and will be serving the 12 diners their final meal. ›››
