There's another wine documentary to watch this year called Eastbound Westbound: A Winemaker's Story - From Bordeaux and California, examining the connections between Bordeaux in France and the California winemakers in America. This has already been playing at a few wine film festivals earlier this year. This project, started in 2020, was supported by four charismatic Bordeaux wine families, the main actors in this film, appearing as themselves in this opus. Eastbound Westbound is a modern and fast-paced cinematographic wine doc, conceived as an investigation between France and the USA, tracing the historical and unwavering links between the United States and the wines of Bordeaux! It's a friendship that we owe to Thomas Jefferson. He was ambassador to France before becoming the third president of the United States… The film features a recreation sequence going back to the 1700s showing how the wine was made then. This looks like a must watch for any and all oenophiles. Or anyone who appreciates two cultures coming together. ›››

Alfred Molina is Gamache in Canadian Mystery 'Three Pines' Trailer

"Your kindness is your greatest strength." Prime Video has debuted the main official trailer for a murder mystery series titled Three Pines, arriving for streaming this fall thanks to Amazon. It's a Canadian series based on a set of books by Louise Penny, which sort of sound like riffs on Agatha Christie and her Belgian detective Hercule Poirot. In this one, Alfred Molina stars as Chief Inspector Armand Gamache. He arrives to investigate murders in Three Pines, a seemingly idyllic village in Quebec's Eastern Townships. He sees things others do not: the light between the cracks, the mythic in the mundane, and discovers long-buried secrets in the small town. Also stars Rossif Sutherland, Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, Tantoo Cardinal, Clare Coulter, Sarah Booth, and Anna Tierney. This looks like if Poirot was in Fargo, which should be the perfect pitch for audiences nowadays. "If you don't belong here, Three Pines will chase you out one way or another." I guess someone thought, oh hey look, Michael Mann is making a Ferrari movie, so we need to make a Lamborghini movie instead! Though this one is being dumped and won't make much of a splash, because the filmmaker behind it isn't that good - his biggest claim to fame is the film Crash, which everyone seems to hate. Lamborghini will – surprise, surprise – tell the life story of Ferruccio Lamborghini, the founder of the famous Italian car manufacturer. Starring Frank Grillo as Ferruccio Lamborghini, with Mira Sorvino, Eliana Jones, Francesca De Martini, Luca Riemma, Giorgio Cantarini, and Gabriel Byrne as his rival Enzo Ferrari. This looks as cheesy and as obvious as any film can, with the rivalry and his pursuit of perfection being the main only focus in it. ›››

Peter Billingsley is Back in 'A Christmas Story Christmas' Sequel Trailer

"My Dad made this all look so easy." "That doesn't mean it was easy…" WB & HBO have debuted the full official trailer for A Christmas Story Christmas, the "long-awaited, highly anticipated" follow-up to the beloved holiday classic A Christmas Story. Did anyone actually want a sequel…? Then again, it's no surprise because they're bringing everything back from the past. This film will take place in the 1970s following an adult Ralphie catching up with his old childhood friends. Ian Petrella, Scott Schwartz, R. D. Robb, and Zack Ward will reprise their roles of Randy Parker, Flick, Schwartz, and Scut Farkus, respectively. Erinn Hayes, River Drosche, and Julianna Layne will play Ralphie's wife and his kids while Julie Hagerty will play Mrs. Parker in a role originated by Melinda Dillon (who retired from acting in 2007) in the original film. The film will be dedicated to the memory of Darren McGavin (who played Ralphie's Old Man in the original film), who died in 2006. The original Ralphie, Peter Billingsley, is back again - even though he's gone on to start a career as a filmmaker instead of an actor. They did actually make A Christmas Story 2 in 2012, but no one saw that. This looks like good, harmless fun but, once again, it won't live up to the original. ›››

Based on the true story of the miraculous journey made by swimming sisters Yusra & Sarah Mardini who fled as refugees from war-torn Syria all the way to the 2016 Rio Olympics. Starring Nathalie Issa (as Yusra) and Manal Issa (as Sara) as the two sisters, plus Matthias Schweighöfer, Ahmed Malek, James Krishna Floyd, Nahel Tzegai, with Kinda Alloush and Ali Suliman. The Unsolved Mystery Continues in 'I Am DB Cooper' Doc Film Trailer

"Oh my god, you're still alive!" Gravitas Ventures has unveiled an official trailer for the indie documentary titled I Am DB Cooper, yet another DB Cooper story about the famed "mastermind criminal" who hijacked a plane and jumped out with cash in the 1970s. The film tells the story of hijacker DB Cooper, who remains one of the great PNW mysteries. It's half documentary, and half narrative film with extensive flashbacks / recreations following DB and imagining what he did and how he got away with everything. There is also a Netflix doc series this year titled D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?!, examining a handful of different possible suspects. This new film focuses specifically on Rodney Bonnifield, who admits he is Cooper. So various fanatics and bounty hunters try to dig up his buried money. I doubt they'll find it, but it should still be a fun film to watch them try. I am certain the D.B. Cooper hijack legend will forever remain an unsolved mystery. ›››
