This is one of these dark fantasy concepts that movies can explore in provocative ways. And there's plenty others like it - A Vigilante is also about a woman who gets back at abusers. Full-Length Trailer for Brandon Cronenberg's Sci-Fi Horror 'Possessor'

"Our next contract's a big one…" Neon has finally debuted a full-length official trailer for the uber-violent sci-fi horror film Possessor, the latest film from filmmaker Brandon Cronenberg (son of the iconic David Cronenberg). Everyone loved the teaser for this a few months ago. It first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to quite a bit of buzz, only allowing 18+ to watch it because of graphic sex, nudity, and violence. And it seems they'll be releasing an "Uncut" version - using that buzz as marketing. Possessor follows an agent who works for a secretive organization that uses brain-implant technology to inhabit other people's bodies - ultimately driving them to commit assassinations for high-paying clients. The thriller stars Andrea Riseborough, with Jennifer Jason Leigh, Sean Bean, Tuppence Middleton, Christopher Abbott, Kaniehtiio Horn, Rossif Sutherland, Christopher Jacot, and Hanneke Talbot. I still think the first teaser trailer is better, but this full trailer will definitely get a lot of people's attention. Super gnarly. ›››

This will be premiering at the Venice Film Festival next week. The very timely film is about a German woman who joins the Antifa movement as a left-wing activist to fight Nazis. But she deals with the struggle of being non-violent, and starts to wonder "if violence could ever be a legitimate political answer to fascism and hatred." Starring Mala Emde, Noah Saavedra, Tonio Schneider, Luisa-Céline Gaffron, and Andreas Lust. "This is not only a story about the strong division running through Germany, but about the one running through our entire Western society." "Beautiful, breathtaking, hilarious." 1091 Pictures has released a new US trailer for an indie docu-dramedy titled When the Storm Fades, a film by Canadian filmmaker Sean Devlin. This premiered in 2018 at the Vancouver Film Festival, and is only finally getting a release on VOD this year. The film tells the story of a well-intentioned, young Canadian couple who help a family in the Philippines recover from the 2013 Super Typhoon Haiyan. It stars real Typhoon Haiyan survivors re-enacting their experiences in the aftermath of the storm alongside Canadian comedians. Which sounds strange? But that's why filmmaking is a creative endeavor - always try to make something unique. Starring Ryan Beil as Jerry, and Kayla Lorette as Clare. I'm glad they openly admit that it's criticizing the "white savior" complex. Looks like a unique film indeed. ›››
