The meeting discussed Pakistan’s economic condition, while Prime Minister Imran Khan briefed CEO World Bank about reforms being taken by the Pakistani government to uplift country’s economy.
Georgieva and PM Khan discussed expected financial assistance from the bank. Pakistan is expecting financial program upto $8billion.
The prime minister would was flanked by his Advisor on Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh and his Advisor on Trade Abdul Razaq Dawood during the meeting.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan is also schedule to meet International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde later in the day.
Pakistan is engaging IMF for a bailout package of around $6billions.
The meeting between both was finalised in a high level contact between the federal government of Pakistan and the IMF.
The prime minister will apprise Lagrade about financial conditions of Pakistan, during the meeting.
It may be noted that back in the month of February, the IMF chief had acknowledged the steps taken so far by the Pakistani government for stabilising the economy. She said the IMF will remain engaged in supporting Pakistan in sustaining its economic recovery.
