First Official Trailer for Warwick Thornton's 'Wolfram' Survival Thriller

"You gentlemen looking for adventure?" Paradise City has unveiled their early promo trailer for Wolfram, the latest new film from Australian indie filmmaker Warwick Thornton. This is set in the same "universe" as his previous film Sweet Country, another tale of racism and survival amidst the dusty Australian Outback of years ago. It first premiered at Berlinale 2026 last month and will play at more festivals coming up this year. Set in the 1930s, the film follows 3 children who escape their white masters and journey across central Australia seeking safety. The youngsters set off across the desert "sweet country" of central Australia, in search of safety and a way home. An outback Western but also a historical drama about survival, reckoning, resilience and love. Starring Deborah Mailman, Erroll Shand, Joe Bird, Thomas M Wright, and Ferdinand Hoang. The film picked up mostly positive reviews playing at Berlinale, saying that it "builds a strong emotional investment with its protagonists." Review: Lord & Miller's 'Project Hail Mary' is Modern Sci-Fi Perfection

"Grace Rocky Save Stars!!" It's finally here. Rocky and Ryland, space buddies, in a story about saving our worlds. Project Hail Mary is a cinematic adaptation of the bestselling book written by Andy Weir. A full 11 years after we got to experience The Martian with Matt Damon, another Andy Weir adaptation, his words are back on the big screen in this interstellar story about using science and ingenuity and creativity to solve existential problems. Acclaimed directors Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, best known as just "Lord & Miller", are the directors behind this big screen adaptation and they've knocked it out of the park. Project Hail Mary is an intellectual space movie with built-in levity that is design to be more of a character study about what it takes to solve great problems. It's a sci-fi spectacle, for sure, but it's not an epic space action movie. Most of it takes place inside a spaceship, a set they built for real on sound stages, with limited green screen. And the best part about it is Rocky, an alien friend he meets on his mission, who is brought to life by puppetry as a practical character performed for real on set and not something created with CGI later on. Fellow geek Adam Savage has debuted a series of videos on his YT channel "Adam Savage's Tested" recently featuring his visit to the set of Phil Lord & Chris Miller's movie Project Hail Mary. With the release worldwide this month, they're finally allowed to show us what it was like on set. So much of this movie was made by hand with as little green screen as possible. Adapted from Andy Weir's acclaimed novel of the same name, this is the story of a teacher turned astronaut who tries to save Earth while alone in outer space. The movie stars Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, who wakes up on a spacecraft at Tau Ceti and has to figure out how to save our stars with the help of a new friend. This video features Adam Savage talking with production designer Charles Wood (aka "Charlie") who then takes him on a tour of the production - from model to sound stage. Charlie explains how the Boeing 747-8 button design inspired the buttons on this set, along with everything else about how it works. This is awesome! Every year during the last month of the awards season, talented poster artists from around the world create a collection of posters honoring the Best Picture nominees. This tradition has been ongoing for quite some time now, with each artist attempting something fresh, pushing themselves to come up with dynamic, fascinating art each & every time. With the 2025 awards season just about to end with the 98th Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday evening (March 15th), it's time to feature some of these posters. I'm always a huge fan of Olly Gibbs' annual statuettes series - seen here for 2025. However, my favorite series of posters this year are designed by artist Matt Needle - so I'm featuring his stunning set of 10 Best Picture posters. Take a listen. Mubi has debuted a fascinating new making of featurette for the film titled Pompei: Below the Clouds, the latest compelling observational documentary by the Italian filmmaker Gianfranco Rosi. It's an 8 minute look at Oscar winning composer Daniel Blumberg crafting this very unique lo-fi score, comprised more of sounds than melodies. The film initially premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival last year, under the name Sotto le nuvole (just Below the Clouds) to many excellent reviews (view the trailer) and acclaim. It's a special cinematic B&W portrait of life in the city of Naples, Italy in the south. Naples is a city forever marked by the looming presence of Mount Vesuvius (which destroyed Pompeii back in 79 AD). Beneath the quiet threat of eruption, people go about their days: archaeologists unearth the past, children learn as the earth hums, firefighters wait for the next call. "Below the clouds lies a territory criss-crossed by inhabitants, worshippers, tourists and archaeologists excavating the past — and by those who, in museums, strive to give new life and meaning to statues, fragments and ruins." Sumerian has unveiled the first official trailer for the Canadian coming-of-age comedy called Mile End Kicks, the second feature film written and directed by filmmaker Chandler Levack. Her feature debut was I Like Movies from 2022, this one is a similar follow-up but with a different spin. Barbie Ferreira plays Grace Pine, a 20-something music critic from Toronto who decides to upend her life and move to Montreal to cover the music scene there. But she romantically involved with two members of the same indie band she is covering. It takes place in Quebec's vibrant indie music scene in 2011. A bright romantic comedy featuring Barbie Ferreira as Grace, all about a young woman figuring out life and love while partying in Montreal. The cast includes Devon Bostick, Stanley Simons, Juliette Gariépy, and Jay Baruchel. I saw this last year at TIFF and alas I'm not a fan - it starts out interesting, but then she starts making such grating & strange choices it quickly becomes something else. Black Bear has revealed the official trailer for the action comedy movie In The Grey, another new Guy Ritchie movie to watch in theaters soon. Last year he released Fountain of Youth which was a huge flop. This movie was made before and it originally was supposed to be done & released in 2025, but it was delayed then ultimately dropped by Lionsgate. Black Bear (also the producers) will give it a full release on their own in theaters starting in May. Two agents and a woman team up to get hold of millions of dollars in stolen money. But these extraction specialists must also plan a route of escape for the female negotiator while fleeing with all the cash. It was filmed entirely on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, which you can tell from all of this footage since it just looks like the same place over & over. Ritchie's In The Grey stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Kristofer Hivju, Emmett J. Scanlan, Jason Wong, Michael Vu, with Fisher Stevens, Rosamund Pike, and Carlos Bardem. I'm not sure why Ritchie is making nothing but lackluster, forgettable action movies nowadays despite once being a good filmmaker. Though successful, she wonders if internet fame comes at too high cost. A new series from multi-Emmy Award winner David E. Kelley starring Oscar, Emmy & Golden Globe Award nominee Elle Fanning as the titular Margo, Golden Globe winner and Oscar & Emmy Award nominee Michelle Pfeiffer, Oscar & Emmy winner Nicole Kidman, and Emmy Award winner Nick Offerman, based on the bestselling novel. The cast also features Marcia Gay Harden, Greg Kinnear, Michael Angarano, Rico Nasty, Lindsey Normington. Hunted by an AI-controlled regime, a rogue soldier hiding in the forest must outfight elite assassins, cybernetic soldiers, and corrupted machines to stop an artificial intelligence system from seizing total control of America. Winter launches a deadly guerrilla war of traps, ambushes & raw survival. As combat satellites enforce outlawed human speech and soldiers end up controlled by corrupted machine code, allegiances fracture and the true madness of the ruling AI is revealed.
