"Streetball gives you the opportunity to say 'what's basketball to me?'" Gravitas has unveiled the trailer for a documentary film titled Handle With Care: Legend of The Notic Streetball Crew, made by Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux & Kirk Thomas. This originally premiered back in 2021 at the Vancouver Film Festival, with appearances at Hot Docs and Urbanworld as well. It's finally be getting a full release starting later in March this year after waiting for 3 years. The acclaimed doc follows the emergence of a Vancouver streetball crew known as "The Notic" in the early 2000s. They gained significant recognition for their & swagger during a 2001 NBA-sponsored tournament. While their creative basketball moves brought them fame as teenagers, it set them at odds with the status quo in a battle involving self-expression, race and rejection. The film has interviews with The Notic streetball crew: Joey "King Handles" Haywood, Rory "Disaster" Grace, Jonathan "Johnny Blaze" Mubanda, Jermaine "Fresh" Foster, Andrew "6 Fingaz" Liew, David "Dazzle" Mubanda, Dauphin "Delight" Ngongo, Jamal "Whereyouat?" Parker, and Mohammed "Goosebumps" Wenn. This looks way more emotional & honest than expected. Keep an eye out for this sports doc coming your way soon. 🏀 // Continue Reading ›
