Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services, Murad Saeed, on Sunday announced that Pakistan Post will start its ‘EMS Plus’ service from Monday (tomorrow) after its extension to 50 countries.

The state enterprise is all set to launch ‘EMS Plus’ parcel delivery service, which allows nationals to post goods to 50 countries at affordable prices.

While making the announcement, Murad Saeed said the express mail service would make transporting goods to 50 states within 72 hours after its extension.

The federal minister revealed that the state enterprise was expanding the service across the globe after its successful operation in the seven countries.

Saeed said that the parcel delivery charges would be significantly lesser than other private courier companies.

He announced that the service at Pakistan Post franchises across the countries will be activated in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

It is pertinent to mention here that NADRA and Pakistan Post had signed an agreement to improve service postal offices across the country on February 22.

The latest launch will promote exports, e-Commerce and online businesses in line with modern techniques for courier and parcel delivery services in the country, said minister.

The minister expressed hopes that the number of franchises is likely to be increased more than 15,000 within the next few months after the improvements and developments being brought in the state entity.

On March 6, Murad Saeed Monday had said that the Pakistan Post had a huge network across the country and due to its vast infrastructure, private courier services are seeking help from it.

While briefing the Senate, the minister said Pakistan Post had increased the number of E-Sahulat franchises up to 15,000 across the country with the help of National Database Registration Authority, he said and added due to the radical steps, the revenue of the department had increased up to 212%.

The minister said despite many hurdles, his team was taking necessary steps to bring Pakistan Post at par with other private courier services.

“We have made electronic money order system more efficient in last four months,” he said and added Pakistan Post was now heading toward e-commerce.
