Diane Kruger is a Pilot in Romantic Thriller Film 'Visions' New Trailer
"Most people put their memories in drawers and lock them away." Dark Sky Films has revealed an official US trailer for an indie thriller titled Visions, made by French filmmaker Yann Gozlan (also of Black Box, Dalloway). This actually premiered and opened in France back in 2023 but is only now getting a US release - on VOD right away this December. Diane Kruger stars as Estelle, a brilliant airline captain, who leads a perfect glamorous life with her husband Guillaume, a renowned doctor. But something is about to change when Estelle falls in love with Ana and begins an intense affair. A woman she once met at an airport. Yann Gozlan's Visions is an erotic psychological thriller reminiscent of the cinema of Brian De Palma and plays with the mythology of the Côte d'Azur as a place where the border between reality and appearances blurs. It can certainly do that. Along with Kruger, this also stars Mathieu Kassovitz, Marta Nieto, Amira Casar, Grégory Fitoussi, and Élodie Navarre. This looks like an intriguing thriller, especially focusing on her job as a pilot, although it seems to be another classic case of jealousy & passion within French relationships. // Continue Reading ›

Watch: Animated Short 'The Dream Machine' Healing with a Machine
"What would you say you dream about the most? 💤 Or what would you want to dream about - best case scenario?" Another entrancing, unique animated short film to enjoy watching here. The Dream Machine is a sci-fi animated short directed by filmmaker Jimmy Marble, in collaboration with the animators Frances Haszard and Louis Olsen. The Dream Machine follows Marianne, a grieving young widow, who uses a new invention to recreate dreams in an effort to cope with her loss, but her escape soon tears apart the edges of reality and the universe. The concept obviously is a reminder of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, or even Philip K. Dick's Total Recall which also is about dreams. The voice cast includes (order of appearance): Sage Price, Theo Martins, Alina Cutrono, Logan Polish, Susan Berger, Nadav Heyman. It takes a bit to get going but the second half of this is cleverly profound. How do you recreate the indomitable feeling of wanting to fall into your lover's eyes? A very good question. It's only a quick 8 minutes - worth a watch. // Continue Reading ›

First Trailer for 'The Dutchman' Film with Andre Holland & Kate Mara
"Take me to the party!" "How do you know about the party?" Inaugural Entertainment has debuted the very first official trailer for an intriguing NYC mystery thriller film titled The Dutchman, which might be better described as a psychological thriller than anything. From director Andre Grains, The Dutchman premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival earlier in the year and it's getting a limited release starting in January early next year. A successful Black businessman, haunted by his crumbling marriage and identity crisis, is drawn into a sexualized game of cat and mouse with a mysterious white woman he randomly meets on a subway that leads to a violent conclusion. Set in New York City, following a man who gets tangled up with a woman named Lula in this strange cinematic nightmare journey. It's a modern adaptation of the 1964 Obie Award winning play, offering a "contemporary edge to the original, exploring themes of race & identity in America." The film stars Kate Mara and André Holland, with Zazie Beetz, Aldis Hodge, Stephen McKinley Henderson. This actually looks pretty damn good + reviews were solid at SXSW. Snowy Survival Story from 1920 'Hazel's Heart' Movie Official Trailer
"When all seems lost... the heart prevails." Samuel Goldwyn Films has debuted the full official trailer for an indie survival thriller film titled Hazel's Heart, based on a true story from the 1920s. It's the first feature film directed by North Dakota producer / writer Daniel Bielinski, and will be out on VOD directly later in December coming up. Based on the true story of Hazel Miner, now turned into this religious fable. In March of 1920, three children become lost in a white-out blizzard in the middle of North Dakota. For the next 25 hours, they must fight to survive while their father leads a desperate hunt to find them before it is too late. A powerful story of perseverance and survival in freezing temperatures. The film stars Madelyn Dundon as Hazel Miner, Stelio Savante, Genevieve Bielinski, Xavier Bielinski, Timothy E. Goodwin, David Michael Reardon, with Franni Cash, Todd Terry, and Laurie Fortier. This looks blatantly cliche and cheesy, of course, but I'll give them some credit for trying to recreate the blizzard to film in to tell this story. // Continue Reading ›

Watch: Hand-Made Animated 'Einvik's Curse' Music Video / Short Film
This is a must watch short film for animation geeks. After years of working on this project, the spectacular animated short film / music video called Einvik's Curse has debuted online. This is an animation project by a creator named "Arkana" for a new graphic novel series set within the "world of Arkana." "It took years to bring this 3-minute animation to life," he says. It's all hand-drawn, made in their own time, without an AI or any other tricks. "If this vision resonates with you, please consider supporting our pre-launch campaign." Arkana creates music but has also discovered something else while working on it: "I wasn't meant to just be a composer. I was meant to build an entire mythos." He explains this fantasy world is split: two powers have risen – one seeking to restore order through absolute technological control & the other vowing to unleash primordial chaos in a cleansing fire. This music video is a first look at some of the characters, the vision, the vivid world and action and magic, and much more. It's incredible. And I really hope he gets to make more - telling more of this story and more animated films within this world. The idea is by Samuel J. Finn, and the animation is by the superbly talented Anthony F. Schepperd. Click on play below & you'll want to see more. // Continue Reading ›

A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Linklater's 'Nouvelle Vague' & Its Cast
"You go through the world like a general, but you don't have an army." Netflix has debuted an extensive 5 minute behind-the-scenes featurette for Richard Linklater's fantastic experimental indie creation Nouvelle Vague, a look back at the French New Wave in the 1960s & Jean-Luc Godard's first film Breathless. This excellent homage to cinema is already playing on Netflix - it's streaming now (view here). This tells the story of Godard making Breathless, told in the same style & spirit in which Godard made Breathless 65 years ago. In order to keep with the spirit of the French New Wave, the young French actors are all newcomers. For example, while he plays the key part of Jean-Luc Godard, it's the first feature film of Guillaume Marbeck. The cast includes Zoey Deutch as Jean Seberg, Aubry Dullin as Jean-Paul Belmondo, Paolo Luka Noé, Alix Bénézech, and Jade Phan-Gia. In this Netflix promo video, director Richard Linklater, actress Zoey Deutch, casting director Stéphane Batut, and the rest of the film's cast take us inside what it took to cast Nouvelle Vague and how the film paid tribute to Jean Luc Godard's iconic film and all the trailblazers of the "New Wave". Many of 2025's Best Films Are Playing at the 14 Films Festival in Berlin
Want to catch some of the best films of the year? 'Tis the season! The esteemed Around the World in 14 Films Festival kicks off in the city of Berlin this weekend. Once again, their 2025 line-up features many of the best films of the year - curated from film festivals around the world that took place earlier in 2025. Around the World in 14 Films is celebrating its 19th year – and it remains the best film festival in Berlin, taking the crown from Berlinale as they continue to show an even better selection, with better Q&As, and a better experience at some of the coziest cinemas around town with plenty of seats for everyone. The opening night premiere on Friday, November 28th this year is Joachim Trier's Sentimental Value, which I still believe was the real winner of the Palme d'or at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival back in May (my full review). Along with bringing this film to Berlin, the festival is showing a handful of other favorites and a shining selection of other indie gems from around the world – just as their name indicates. I'm always back at this fest every December, ready to catch up with a few films I missed from 2025 festivals and rewatching others. // Continue Reading ›

Steph Curry's 'GOAT' Animals Play Basketball Animated Movie Trailer
"You don't belong here, goat. You're too small!" Sony Pictures has revealed a full official trailer for GOAT, an animated sports movie from Sony Pictures Animation. This one is produced by famous basketball player Steph Curry, inspired by his experiences playing in the NBA. 🏀 Another animal world movie like Disney's Zootopia 2 this fall. In this movie, they don't actually play "basketball" they play a game called "roarball" – a high-intensity, co-ed, full-contact sport dominated by all the fastest, fiercest animals. An undersized goat defies expectations by joining a team in roarball - a dangerous sport where animals compete on hazardous, ever-changing courts. With his diverse teammates, he must prove he belongs in the fierce League. With the voices of Caleb McLaughlin as Will, Gabrielle Union, Stephen Curry as Lenny, Nicola Coughlan, with Nick Kroll, David Harbour, Jenifer Lewis, Aaron Pierre, Patton Oswalt, Andrew Santino, Bobby Lee, Eduardo Franco, Sherry Cola, Jelly Roll, and Jennifer Hudson. Arriving in theaters starting February 2026 next year. They're borrowing the style from the Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem movie and turning the term "GOAT" into a literal goat who plays ball movie. Official Trailer for 'How to Make a Killing' with Glen Powell & Qualley
"Wait, who are you?" "I'm Becket." A24 has revealed the fancy first official trailer for the film How to Make a Killing, a dark comedy thriller about a man who must figure out how to get rid of his relatives to get his hands on the inheritance. How to Make a Killing is the highly anticipated second feature from Emily the Criminal director John Patton Ford, and it's a remake of the famous 1949 British black comedy called Kind Hearts and Coronets with the very same plot. Disowned at birth by his obscenely wealthy family, blue-collar Becket Redfellow will stop at nothing to reclaim his inheritance, no matter how many relatives stand in his way. In the original he has to get rid of 8 of them, in this it's only 7. It also reminds me of Park Chan-wook's No Other Choice as well, about taking out dudes to get to some money. The film stars Glen Powell as Becket, Margaret Qualley, Jessica Henwick, Bill Camp, Zach Woods, Topher Grace, and Ed Harris. This looks like a sneaky, fun time with some dark humor to slice through all the wealth & glamour. // Continue Reading ›

Bill Skarsgard Takes a Hostage in 'Dead Man's Wire' Full Official Trailer
"I hear you, Tony... But holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die." Row K Entertainment has debuted the excellent official trailer for the terrific film Dead Man's Wire, which received a fantastic ovation and tons of great reviews playing across many film festivals. Dead Man's Wire is the latest film directed by American filmmaker maestro Gus Van Sant, an entirely true story from the 70s about a hostage situation. "His revolution was televised." Based on a true story, the 1977 kidnapping of a prominent banker grips the nation and turns the everyman abductor (starring Bill Skarsgård) into an outlaw folk hero. As the media frenzy peaks, the standoff becomes a spectacle of desperation, defiance and blurred justice, which resonates even today. With Bill Skarsgård as Tony Kiritsis, Dacre Montgomery as Dick Hall, Cary Elwes, Myha'la, Colman Domingo, and Al Pacino. I caught this at the Venice Film Festival (read my review) and the audience went nuts - they were full-on cheering & applauding at the end. A+ Journalism Doc 'Teenage Wasteland' Trailer About High Schoolers
"Young people rising up to the challenge & doing something about it." Film Forum has revealed the official trailer for the film Teenage Wasteland, a remarkably compelling & inspiring documentary film made by acclaimed doc filmmaker duo Jesse Moss & Amanda McBaine (also of The Outsiders, Boys State, Girls State). This premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival under the original name Middletown, which is the name of the town in upstate New York that it takes place in. This new title is a bit better - and I hope it gets people's attention. A teacher inspires a group of teenagers in the early 1990s to make a student film and they uncover a conspiracy that is poisoning their community. 30 years later they revisit this transformative experience. The story followers an intrepid group of high schoolers who took cameras to their local dump and discovered toxic waste – and tons of corruption and much more. Tribute Trailer to Pixar's 'Toy Story' Celebrating its 30th Anniversary
"Some friendships only get better with time." Disney + Pixar recently debuted this new 30th Anniversary tribute trailer to celebrate 30 years of Pixar's Toy Story the animated classic - which opened in theaters exactly 30 years ago this November. Pixar's very first feature film Toy Story arrived in theaters November 22nd back in 1995 - and it changed everything, landing earning 3 Oscar nominations and one other Special Achievement Award. The beloved original computer animated movie was already re-released in theaters in September, so this latest video is more of a timely celebration of the magic of this story and the impact it has had on so many movie-lovers. "Fans around the world are reminded of the seminal characters and narrative of Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and more that started 30 years ago across four major films, with a fifth film on the way with Toy Story 5 releasing in 2026." Yes indeed there's yet another new sequel arriving next summer. It's amazing to think of how far this has come and how all these characters is still somehow relevant and fun and enjoyable to keep following along. The tribute trailer also pairs nicely with this Steve Jobs interview on Pixar's early days making this. Starring the voices of Tom Hanks & Tim Allen it remains a revered classic. // Continue Reading ›

Classic Trailer Rewatch: Danny Boyle's 'Sunshine' Brilliant Sci-Fi Film
"If it dies, we die." Sarchlight Pictures originally released this sci-fi classic Sunshine back in 2007, but no one went to see it back then when it opened in theaters. Now 18 years later it's considered one of the best modern sci-fi movies, even with the controversial horror ending. Made by director Danny Boyle & writer Alex Garland as another one of their collabs after the original 28 Days Later (made 5 years before this) the film follows a crew trying to take a special payload to the Sun to help reignite since it's "dying". It's one of my favorite films mostly for the intense realism & attention to detail. And its bleak but fascinating look at how being out in deep space makes people go mad. Sunshine is a sci-fi psychological thriller starring a great cast featuring Cillian Murphy as Capa, with Rose Byrne, Cliff Curtis, Chris Evans, Troy Garity, Michelle Yeoh, Benedict Wong, and Hiroyuki Sanada. The film takes place in 2057, where a group of astronauts aboard the Icarus II are sent on a dangerous mission towards the Sun. Posting these old trailers is also another excuse to say again how brilliant this film truly is and how it always deserves a rewatch if it has been a while since you've last seen it. Another Teaser + More Posters for 'Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair'
"You and I have unfinished business." "Baby, you ain't kidding..." ⚔️ Lionsgate keeps revealing marketing promos for the upcoming Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair release this December. Another 30 second teaser + 2 posters below. This is the definitive, original version of the entire story that Quentin Tarantino envisioned over 20 years ago. As everyone knows, Tarantino's brutal revenge saga Kill Bill was released in two parts: Kill Bill: Volume 1 in 2003 and Kill Bill: Volume 2 in 2004. Uma Thurman stars as The Bride - an assassin left for dead who miraculously survives then goes on a rampaging revenge tour to get back at her old boss and all of his assassins. Both of them are some of my favorite movies ever made. Also starring Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, Gordon Liu as Pai Mei, Michael Parks, and David Carradine as "Bill". Presented exactly as Tarantino intended, complete with a never-before-seen anime sequence, The Whole Blood Affair unites Vol. 1 & 2 into a single, unrated epic. The highly anticipated release marks one of the rare times that the entire epic has been presented as a single, combined film. It's going to be playing on screens nationwide - a full 4-1/2 hours (with intermission). Get your tickets. // Continue Reading ›

Must See Doc Trailer for 'Cover-Up' About Journalist Seymour Hersh
"It's complicated to know who to trust... You know, I barely trust you guys." Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a documentary film called Cover-Up, the latest feature made by award-winning doc filmmaker Laura Poitras (of Citizenfour, All The Beauty And The Bloodshed). This time she teams up with fellow doc filmmaker Mark Obenhaus to make a visceral tribute to a fearless, tenacious journalist named Seymour Hersh aka Sy Hersh. It first premiered at the 2025 Venice & Telluride Film Festivals with stops at TIFF, NYFF, Vancouver, London and many others. Hersh has been at the front lines of political journalism in the United States. His breakthrough reportage has brought to the public's attention many of the most damning constitutional wrongdoings and cover-ups. He dares to report the truth, reveal the facts, and follow leads when no one else will. He ventures into places he shouldn't, he challenges powerful people – in politics and in journalism. This is such an inspiring, moving, and fascinating look at his life and his reporting. I'm glad I had a chance to watch this at the Venice Film Festival because it's fantastic and vitally important. It's set for a streaming debut in the US on Hulu this December at the same time as in Korea, with Season 2 already in the works for late next year. Set in 1970s South Korea, Made in Korea follows two men on opposite sides of power — one driven by ambition, the other by justice. As their worlds collide, greed, loyalty, and survival intertwine in a battle that will shape a nation. Starring Hyun Bin as Baek Ki-tae, a man with ambitions for wealth and power, and Jung Woo-sung as Jang Geon-young, a prosecutor with animalistic instincts and terrifying tenacity. The cast also includes Woo Do-hwan, Won Ji-an, Seo Eun-soo, Cho Yeo-jeong, and Jung Sung-il. This looks like it gets intense and extra wild and violent – but that's expected in a Korean series. It's never simply about businessmen in meeting rooms. Check it out. // Continue Reading ›

Hikari Discusses Filming Brendan Fraser in Lovely 'Rental Family' Film
"She's a creator who has a strong intuition [for] the human condition – and [can do] that with sincerity, without ever being mawkish or cliche..." This lovely, uplifting new film is opening in theaters this week and I heartily recommend it. Searchlight Pictures has debuted another charming behind-the-scenes featurette for Rental Family, from the filmmaker known as "Hikari" who also directed episodes of the series "Beef" & the film 37 Seconds. Discover the joy of unexpected connections. A lonely American actor living in Tokyo starts working for a Japanese "rental family" company to play stand-in roles in other people's lives. Along his journey, he finds surprising connections and unexpected joys within his built-in family in Japan. This humble film stars Oscar winner Brendan Fraser, with Takehiro Hira, Mari Yamamoto, Shannon Gorman, & Akira Emoto. This making of featurette is all about Hikari working with Brendan Fraser, why she chose him for this role, and a bit of what she's like working on set filming with everyone. I watched this film recently and it's quite cozy and makes you feel all warm & fuzzy by the end. It's entirely worth watching. // Continue Reading ›

Chilean Film 'The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo' Official US Trailer
"The rules in this house are set by me!" Altered Innocence has revealed their official trailer for the film The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo, a vibrant Chilean indie film which is the break out feature from the talented young director Diego Céspedes. It won the top prize in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, and it has also played at TIFF, AFI Fest & the Chicago Film Festival, among many others. Set in the year 1982 during the early days of the AIDS crisis in Chile. As an "unknown disease" begins to spread in a small mining town in the Chilean desert, gay men are accused of transmitting it through their eyes, only with their gaze. However in this charged environment, things aren't exactly easy for 11-year-old Lidia, who's being raised by a loving queer community led by Boa. She sets out in search of the truth. The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo recalls the emotional vibrancy of Almodóvar and continues Chile's proud legacy of queer cinema—marking Céspedes as one of the most exciting new voices in world cinema. Starring Tamara Cortés as Lidia, Matías Catalán, Paula Dinamarca, Claudia Cabezas, and Luis Dubó. This has been getting great reviews at the fests, with critics calling it "a finely crafted, deeply affecting tribute to love and community––a piece of proudly, vitally queer art." "Work in Milan and sleep in Sicily? This Christmas, it will be possible." Ha! I wonder if this a funny concept only Italians will understand? Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a an extra wacky comedy mini-series titled Sicily Express, ready for streaming on Netflix starting in early December. Another holiday offering from Netflix - this one is really made just for Italians to laugh about. With Christmas around the corner, two blundering Sicilian friends working in Milan discover a dumpster that transports them to their families in seconds. It's a fun concept where this trash bin allows them to travel instantly between North Italy (where Milan is) and South Italy (where Sicily and Palermo and Naples are located). The new miniseries is written, directed, and starring Ficarra & Picone. The beloved Sicilian duo returns with a five-episode holiday comedy launching in December. Along with Salvatore Ficarra & Valentino Picone, the cast also includes Katia Follesa & Barbara Tabita, along with Max Tortora, Sergio Vastano, Enrico Bertolino, Adelaide Massari, & Angelo Tosto, plus a special appearance by Giorgio Tirabassi. Review: Animated Sci-Fi Film 'Arco' is a Wondrous Look into the Future
"Little boys don't just fall from the sky. It's as if his didn't exist." Oh he does exist! But only if you have the courage to imagine his future. Another wonderfully original animation creation from this year is a film titled Arco, a French animated feature made by illustrator / filmmaker Ugo Bienvenu as his feature directorial debut. Arco already premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival earlier in the year, and I caught up with it at the 2025 Sitges Film Festival this fall where I'm lucky to have been able to watch it on the big screen with an audience. It's the latest hard sci-fi animated film I've seen since the excellent French film Mars Express a few years ago. This year we also have Pixar's sci-fi movie Elio, which is quite similar to this one, about how one child's life is changed by a sci-fi experience. Arco goes all out with a double dose of sci-fi world building, setting the film in the year 2932 and also in the year 2075. Ultimately it's a story the cleverly plays with the time travel idea that you can and will influence the future by interacting with the future. I surprisingly loved this film & highly recommend it to those who enjoy science fiction no matter if it's animation or otherwise. // Continue Reading ›

Grief is messy and chaotic enough as it is, but when it takes the form of an unhinged, unwanted house guest taunting him from the shadows, things start to spiral out of control...
