Football Movie 'Signing Tony Raymond' Trailer Starring Michael Mosley
"Some of the best plays happen off the field." Iconic Events & Southern Isles Pictures have debuted the first official trailer for a film titled Signing Tony Raymond, a football movie but this time about the coach's recruiting job. This story reminds me of Brad Pitt's Moneyball, about how to build a winning team finding the right people. A young college football coach (armed with a lucrative NIL offer) is sent to rural Alabama to sign the nation's top high school defensive end and soon finds himself trying to outflank a frenzy of rival recruiters, fight off grifting townsfolk galore, and somehow also win over the player's wildly dysfunctional family. Inspired by a true story. "Owen's perspective brings a rare mix of insight and humor to the realities of college football today." Starring Michael Mosley as Coach Walt McFadden, with Mira Sorvino & Rob Morgan, featuring football legends Marshawn Lynch, Brian Bosworth and Champ Bailey. This looks like a kooky comedy about the eccentricities of small town American more than a mainstream sports movie. // Continue Reading ›

A Final Trailer for del Toro's 'Frankenstein' Reveals the Monster Himself
"I must confess – I never considered what would come after creation." The story of a monster & his unique creation. Netflix has revealed one final trailer for Guillermo del Toro's new Frankenstein movie, his uniquely gothic and extra dark take on this classic story from author Mary Shelley. After premiering at the 2025 Venice & Telluride Film Festivals (read my review) it will be streaming on Netflix starting next week. This trailer finally gives us a much better look at his monster – as played by Jacob Elordi in one of the best performances of the year. Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro adapts the tale of Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation. The phenomenal cast includes Oscar Isaac as Victor and Jacob Elordi as his "monster", with Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Charles Dance, Christian Convery, and Ralph Ineson. The movie has already been playing in theaters for a few weeks and will be playing on Netflix soon – hence why they're giving it one big push with this final trailer. Catch on the big screen if you can, either way it's worth a watch. // Continue Reading ›

Aardman's 'Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom' First Teaser
Arriving next October! Aardman Animation & Studiocanal have revealed the very first quick announcement teaser for a brand new Shaun the Sheep movie arriving next year in October. Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom is a Halloween-themed stop-motion animated movie currently scheduled to open in theaters Halloween 2026 🎃, which is why they're revealing this first look right now, one year ahead of its debut worldwide. The film is the third stop motion animated feature film from Aardman's globally loved brand: following Shaun the Sheep Movie (2015) + the first sequel A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon (2019) – along with other short films & series based on Shaun as well. The Beast of Mossy Bottom is about what happens when The Farmer's pumpkin patch is trashed and Shaun tries to help figure out how to fix it in time for Halloween. "All the ingredients are in place for a monstrously fun family adventure." This is such a fun little teaser with the pumpkin and the scary "wild beast" of Mossingham. Trailer for The Asylum's Sci-Fi 'Predator: Wastelands' B-Movie Spoof
"The creature dies today!" The Asylum has unveiled their official trailer for the B-movie called Predator: Wastelands, available to watch on VOD next week just before the real movie opens. It is an obvious ripoff of the actual Predator: Badlands movie, but now they're affectionately called "mockbusters". The Asylum has been making these mockbuster spoofs for decades, and we usually don't post these trailers, but this is a fun one because the FX & design that went into this is so funny you just have to see it. When an alien hunter arrives on Earth, it takes down a gang of warlords and unexpectedly becomes a folk hero to the oppressed locals. With their support, the alien sets its sights on defeating the warlords' ruthless leader. Starring David Chokachi, Johnny Ramey, Amulya Ananth, Vanessa Zanardi, L.A. Williams, and West Wayne. This looks so ridiculous bad and cheesy and awful, but that's all part of the charm. Why not have some fun? // Continue Reading ›

Final US Trailer for 'Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy' Korean Movie
"What's the meaning of an ending with one survivor?" Blue Fox Entertainment has unveiled their official US trailers for an epic Korean action adventure movie called Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy. It's made by the same Korean filmmaker who also made The Great Flood movie out in December later this year. Omniscient Reader is adapted from a famous web novel, written by a Korean author duo writing under the pen name "singNsong". It was originally a big hit in Korea back in 2019. Combining epic high-stakes action with mind-bending fantasy, the movie promises to be a cinematic spectacle that will captivate both long-time fans of the webtoon & newcomers alike. When the apocalyptic world depicted in a serial novel suddenly becomes reality, ordinary Kim Dok-ja – the only person who knows how the novel ends – must set out on a treacherous journey with his companions and the novel’s omnipotent hero, Yu Jung-hyeok, to survive and save the day. Starring Ahn Hyo-seop & Lee Min-ho, along with Chae Soo-bin, Shin Seung-ho, Nana, Jisoo, and Kwon Eun-seong. This looks like a big, cheesy Hollywood movie with some sketchy VFX – as they battle creatures of all sizes, malevolent forces, and more mayhem all trying to write their down destiny. // Continue Reading ›

Narrated by Academy Award-nominee Tom Hardy, the film follows an audacious mission to save the critically endangered black rhino against impossible odds. Hemmed in by ruthless bandits, the rhinos risk turning on each other. His team launches a major plan to move 21 rhinos across the country to provide a new safe haven. Highlighting the daily struggles experienced by those risking their lives to protect biodiversity, whilst simultaneously giving voice to those on the other side of the armed conflict, this hard-hitting, authentic film – crafted from 4 years of living & working within Kenya's conservancy community – is both timely and urgent, as banditry violence spirals out of control, and the demand for illicit rhino horn climbs ever higher. New Trailer for Carrey's 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' 25th Anniv.
"Join the Whobilation, again!" Universal Pictures has unveiled a new trailer for the 25th Anniversary re-release of the beloved Christmas classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas - the live-action version with Jim Carrey from the year 2000. Many kids grew up watching and loving this one. Older generations grew up with the animated classic 1966 version from Chuck Jones. Both based on the beloved book created by Dr. Seuss - How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The movie, directed by Ron Howard, is a live-action version of the story about a grumpy green creature known as "The Grinch", who lives above a town called Whoville – played under perfectly wicked make-up by the one-and-only Jim Carrey. (Rick Baker & Gail Rowell-Ryan won the Best Make-Up Oscar for this.) He plans to ruin Christmas for all of the citizens of the town, because he hates Christmas. His plan is foiled when he meets the young Cindy Lou Who (played by actress Taylor Momsen in her first film role) who teaches him the true meaning of Christmas. The cast includes Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, Bill Irwin, and Molly Shannon. So many movies have been re-released this year and they're continuing the trend by bringing this out again in theaters in December. Who's going? // Continue Reading ›

Watch: NYC Marathon Documentary '26.2: Journey to the Finish Line'
"Savor every minute of this journey." Tribeca Films has just debuted a new documentary film titled 26.2, made by filmmaker Nicolas Heller – best known as the runner "New York Nico" on social media. The full title for it is Journey to the Finish Line of the NYC Marathon and the 34-minute short doc is out now to watch (view below). 26.2 follows four tenacious New Yorkers in the lead-up to the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon. A long time superfan of the race, Nicolas was inspired by individual stories & motivations of each runner (and walker) who chooses to participate in one of the world’s largest annual marathons. This is their honest story. "Between them, they've survived a stroke, cancer, a life-changing house fire, & finishing dead last in the 2023 race. They're not professional runners. They're people who've been knocked down and decided to keep moving. This isn't a story about running fast. It's a story about getting there at all." This reminds me of another doc called 26.2 to Life, about a marathon inside of a prison. And this year's other doc on running called Learning to Fly. 26.2 is another engaging & wholesome film that should inspire everyone. // Continue Reading ›

Kate Beckinsale & Lewis Tan in 'Wildcat' Heist Action Thriller Trailer
"There's a lot going on in London tonight." Aura Entertainment has unveiled the official trailer for a movie called Wildcat, a high-stakes heist thriller from filmmaker James Nunn (of Shark Bait, One Shot & One More Shot). Not to be confused with Ethan Hawke's film Wildcat from a few years ago, this also goes under the title Lioness (which they probably changed due to the Lioness series). A former special ops squad comes together for one last mission - a high-stakes robbery to rescue their commander's young daughter. One big epic heist with London's gangsters! Wildcat stars Kate Beckinsale, Lewis Tan, Charles Dance, Tom Bennett, Alice Krige, Edmund Kingsley, and Matt Willis. New US Trailer for 'Sentimental Value' with Renate Reinsve & Skarsgård
"Everyone's mad at Dad, huh?" Neon has unveiled their second official trailer for Joachim Trier's terrific film Sentimental Value, which is opening in theaters starting in November this fall. It should've won the Palme d'or at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival this year. Instead it won the Grand Prix second prize, which I'm happy about anyway, because this film deserves any & every award. It keeps winning people over at every festival it plays at! After the death of their mother, sisters Nora & Agnes Borg are forced to confront their distant father Gustav, a once-famous though now nearly forgotten film director. Gustav, convinced that an autobiographical screenplay he's written will be his ticket back to fame, offers the lead role to Nora, but she firmly refuses, prompting him to cast Hollywood actress Rachel Kemp instead in the lead role, whom he meets during a retrospective of his films in France. The film stars Stellan Skarsgård as Gustav, Renate Reinsve & Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas as the sisters, plus Elle Fanning as Rachel Kemp, and with Anders Danielsen Lie. One of my favorite films of the year! My review was quoted in the first trailer, and the same quote now appears on the official poster below. Morgan Neville's Doc 'Paul McCartney: Man on the Run' Teaser Trailer
"I thought - we should start from square one. It's a puzzle I had to unravel." Prime Video has revealed the first look teaser trailer for Paul McCartney: Man on the Run, yet another new Beatles documentary – though this isn't really about them, it's about what happened after The Beatles. Man on the Run is a film by acclaimed, Oscar-winning doc director Morgan Neville (of 20 Feet from Stardom, Best of Enemies, Keith Richards: Under the Influence, Won't You Be My Neighbor?, They'll Love Me When I'm Dead). Currently set for release in February 2026, after first premiering at the 2025 Telluride Film Festival this fall. After The Beatles break up (in 1970), Paul McCartney forms new band called Wings with his wife Linda. Archival home footage shows Paul's life with Linda, who influenced his music, as well as his experiences after The Beatles fame. The doc film follows Wings from formation through 1970s during which Paul wrote hit songs. The description says the film "captures Paul's transformative post-Beatles era through a uniquely vulnerable lens." Which sounds like we get to learn about a whole other side of him that we haven't seen before. Enjoy. // Continue Reading ›

Watch: Garden Gnomes Fight Back in 'Forever' Funny Animated Short
To battle they go! Omeleto debuted a fun 6-minute film called Forever, an animated short about seemingly friendly garden gnomes going to war. The short is made by a group of students from ENSI (École Nationale Supérieure d’Ingénieurs) in France and was debuted recently at the MyMetaStories festival. The only actual synopsis: "Garden gnomes battle an enemy." It's about a group of gnomes who realize they must fight back when a golf ball from a nearby golf course destroys one of their ranks. "This rambunctious animated short turns the seemingly whimsical subject - the quiet lives of garden gnomes - into a surprisingly suspenseful battle over life & dominion, told with thriller-like tension, robust humor and terrific energy." Presented by UniFrance. With a score by Jérémie Esperet. No voices as it is a dialogue-free journey into a golf course battle-zone. There have been a bunch of animated movies about gnomes already: Gnomeo & Juliet (2011), Gnome Alone (2017), & Sherlock Gnomes (2018). Though I'd say this short is better than nearly all of those. // Continue Reading ›

Must Watch Awesome Trailer for 'Last Samurai Standing' Action Series
"You fools who live without meaning: kill each other, until just one remains." Netflix has revealed their full official trailer for their awesome new Japanese action series called Last Samurai Standing, which is not a game show despite the title sounding like it might be. Based on the manga of the same name, it's about a battle between nearly 300 samurai warriors in Kyoto back in the late 19th century. "One life, one point." Shujiro enters a deadly game where points are earned for each kill. Who will be the last samurai standing in this sinister scheme? During the Meiji period, 292 warriors, including Shujiro Saga, gather at the Tenryuji Temple in Kyoto at nightfall, lured by the promise of a huge cash prize. Each given a wooden tag, they join a vicious game in which they must steal the tags of their fellow participants and reach Tokyo to win the prize money. Under the veil of night, the temple grounds are filled with unease and the presence of bloodthirsy warriors. When the signal is given to begin the game, the combatants launch into their relentless battle for survival. Let them fight! Starring Junichi Okada, Yumia Fujisaki, Kaya Kiyohara, Hiroshi Tamaki, Hideaki Itō, Gaku Hamada, Hiroshi Abe. Full Trailer for Western 'Cottonmouth' w/ Esai Morales & Ron Perlman
"Let me guess - you're an innocent man?" "Damn right, I am." Cineverse has debuted an official trailer for a western film titled Cottonmouth, a gritty revenge thriller set back in 1895 in Oklahoma. This film is sort of a western re-imaging of the classic The Count of Monte Cristo story from Dumas, inspired by it, but also with its own clever twists in a classic western setting. In 1895 Oklahoma, love and loyalty turn deadly when a groom-to-be is betrayed, imprisoned, and reborn as an outlaw bent on revenge. When Ed Dantes is framed and condemned to the tortures of a territorial prison in 1895, he must learn the ways of the outlaw to escape and exact his revenge on Billy Dunn. Directed by Brock Harris, this rugged frontier saga of passion, power, and payback reminds us that every bullet carries the weight of a broken heart. Starring Martin Sensmeier as Ed, Alyssa Wapanatâhk as Sophia, Jonathan Sadowski, Eric Nelsen, Jonathan Lipnicki, with Ron Perlman and Esai Morales. Have to say - this looks way better than it should! Made by talented up-and-coming filmmaker Mary Bronstein, this film premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to rave reviews. With her life crashing down around her, Linda attempts to navigate her child's illness, her absent husband, a missing person, and an increasingly hostile relationship with her own therapist. Hemsworth, Keoghan, Ruffalo, Berry, Barbaro in 'Crime 101' Full Trailer
"Doesn't matter how much many you make, it's never enough." "I'll know when I have enough..." Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the first official trailer for a California crime thriller called Crime 101, another strangely basic titled for a film that looks more complex than it sounds. It's set for a theatrical release in February 2026 on account of this excellent cast. The film is centered on detective Lou Lubesnick, played by Ruffalo, tracking a complex jewel thief who is adhering to the "Crime 101" rules - a strict set of guidelines for the perfect heist without ever being caught. The 101 is also a reference to the location along the iconic 101 freeway - California's Pacific Coast Highway. Based on Don Winslow's short story of the same name. As the big multimillion-dollar heist approaches, the line between hunter and hunted begins to blur, and all of the players are forced to confront the cost of their choices – and the realization that there's no turning back. The fabulous full cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo as the detective, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, with Nick Nolte and Halle Berry. This looks like it might actually be an intriguing, exciting thriller with some clever twists & turns. Will they finally catch him? // Continue Reading ›

Rodrigo Santoro in Brazilian Film 'The Son of a Thousand Men' Trailer
"When it hurts, I come here and scream it out loud." 🇧🇷 Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a Brazilian film titled The Son of a Thousand Men, based on highly acclaimed Brazilian novel. Ready for streaming in November this fall. A father without a son, a son without a father, and a shared dream. A village of one-of-a-kind encounters that turn into unlikely stories... Starring Rodrigo Santoro and inspired by the best-selling book by Valter Hugo Mãe, this Netflix film The Son of a Thousand Men, made by Daniel Rezende, shares a fable about solitude, love, and acceptance. Crisóstomo, a 40-year-old fisherman, decides to search for what he lacks: a son. Upon meeting Camilo, a 14-year-old boy, he ends up changing the lives of excluded and rejected characters, forming a non-conventional family united by a love for simple things. In addition to Santoro, it also stars Johnny Massaro, Rebeca Jamir, Juliana Caldas, featuring Miguel Martines as Camilo. It was filmed between Búzios, along the coast of Rio de Janeiro, and Chapada Diamantina, in Bahia. This has some absolutely amazing cinematography by DP Azul Serra. I'm hooked - I will be watching this. // Continue Reading ›

Official Trailer for Acclaimed Doc 'Cutting Through Rocks' from Iran
"You all have the power to do anything." Film Forum has unveiled the official US trailer for an acclaimed documentary film titled Cutting Through Rocks, made by the filmmakers Mohammadreza Eyni & Sara Khaki. This premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year (listed as one of my favorite films at the fest) and it played at tons of other fests including Hot Docs, Visions du Réel, Edinburgh, Woodstock, Vancouver, and many others. As the first elected councilwoman of her Iranian village up in the north, Sara Shahverdi aims to break long-held patriarchal traditions by training teenage girls to ride motorcycles and stopping child marriages. When accusations arise questioning Sara's intentions to empower all the girls, her identity is put in turmoil. But she fights back. A real, genuine badass and feminist hero - fighting for women and doing everything she can in her village. I'm a big fan of this film - I wrote in my recap: "An empowering, inspiring story of perseverance & progress no matter the circumstances or the oppression." Worth a watch. // Continue Reading ›

Finally! Full Trailer for Vince Gilligan's 'Pluribus' Mystery Sci-Fi Series
"Rest assured Carol - we will figure out what makes you different." Apple TV has finally debuted the full official trailer for their fresh series from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan titled Pluribus. Let's find out what he's up to this time! They already debuted a total of 5 other short cryptic teasers over the last few months, without revealing much about the actual plot. Now we know more! Sort of. The sci-fi series is titled Pluribus - the Latin word is an adjective that means "much, many" (commonly used in the U.S. slogan "E pluribus unum"). With this trailer that seems to be a spin - she's the only one who can help. The only intro available so far to setup the plot: The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness. Pluribus stars Rhea Seehorn (who was also in "Better Call Saul") with Carlos Manuel Vesga, Karolina Wydra, Miriam Shor, and Samba Schutte. This trailer seems to hint at the idea that everyone else is infected with something? And there's an apocalypse of some kind? Yet Carol is immune to the happiness epidemic and they want to figure out why. Interesting. I'm definitely curious, but still not fully sold on it yet. // Continue Reading ›

Idris Elba Returns in 'Hijack' Season 2 First look Teaser - Set in Berlin
"Einsteigen, bitte." Which means "please enter." What are the odds of someone being involved in a hijacking situation TWICE?! Well, that's TV for you! Let's watch and find out. Apple TV has confirmed and announced that they are continuing with Season 2 of the thriller series Hijack - this time set on the metro in Berlin. The first Hijack series launched on Apple TV+ in June 2023 - the "real time" series followed a 7-hour flight on its way to London that was being hijacked, involving Idris Elda as one of the passengers. In the thrilling second season of Hijack, a Berlin underground train and its commuters are taken hostage, while authorities scramble to save lives. Sam Nelson (Elba) is at the heart of the crisis on board, where one wrong decision could spell disaster. Can they really keep this "real-time" gimmick going on a train with a bomb? For 7 or 8 hours of TV? I live in Berlin (hey, that's my city!) and you could ride the entire circuit around the city and it wouldn't be more than 2 hours in total. The sounds in this are also entirely wrong. Curious to see where this goes and how the situation plays out on a train. Maybe it's a spin on the classic The Taking of Pelham 123? // Continue Reading ›

Trailer #2 for 'The Old Woman with the Knife' Sneaky Korean Thriller
"It may look dull... but it still does the job." Well Go USA has debuted another new trailer for the film The Old Woman with the Knife, a Korean assassin dark thriller from filmmaker Min Kyu-dong. We already posted the first trailer months ago and it opened in select US theaters back in May – this new trailer is for the VOD release (on November 25th). An aging female assassin with a knack for taking out society's worst encounters a young protégé eager to learn the trade - who has his own secrets. As they form a surprising & unexpected bond, the veteran killer discovers fresh purpose in her twilight years of violence and routine. Actress Lee Hye-yeong plays Hornclaw – a legendary assassin now in her 60s who specializes in "disease control," or getting rid of "human vermin," for over 40 years. Perhaps because she is getting older, she feels a strange compassion for the doctor who treated her. Also starring Kim Sung-cheol and Kim Mu-yeol. Another underrated, underseen action thriller that I recommend watching - it's slick, stylish & entertaining. Most of all, Hornclaw is such a badass. Watch it just for her! Catch this film at home starting in November. // Continue Reading ›

Fun Trailer for Football Doc 'Luv Ya Bum!' About Coach Bum Phillips
"He believed it was okay for a coach to love his players." In doing so, he changed leadership in professional sports and left a legacy that continues to resonate with NFL generations even today. Blue Harbor Ent. has revealed an official trailer for the documentary film titled Luv Ya Bum!, which is actually a sports history film about Texas football in the 1970s. With narration from actor Dennis Quaid. In the '70s, the struggling Houston Oilers turned to Bum Phillips, an unconventional cowboy-hat-wearing coach who built a family-first team of misfits and stars such as Earl Campbell. Together they ignited the "Luv Ya Blue!" phenomenon, challenged the Steelers dynasty, and captured a city’s heart. Featuring rare, archival footage and impactful interviews with football legends, including Earl Campbell, Dan Pastorini, Peyton Manning, Sean McVay, Terry Bradshaw, Jerry Jones, J.J. Watt, Von Miller, DeMarcus Ware, and Bum's own son & grandson, NFL coaches Wade and Wes Phillips. This premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival and won the Documentary Spotlight Audience Award. First Trailer for Joe Carnahan's 'Not Without Hope' Boat Rescue Movie
"Hope is the strongest thing we have." VVS Films has revealed the first official trailer for a survival movie called Not Without Hope, adapted from the book of the same name. This is set for release in theaters this December. Directed by Joe Carnahan, it's one of two upcoming movies he has coming out back-to-back - he also has The RIP scheduled for January. Not Without Hope tells the true story of four friends stuck in the Gulf of Mexico when their fishing boat capsizes during a storm. The book description sums it up nicely: "an inspiring and unforgettable story of courage and strength, friendship and loss, and, most importantly, hope, in the vein of Touching the Void, Into Thin Air, Between a Rock and a Hard Place, and Piers Paul Read’s classic survival tale, Alive." This intense open water survival thriller stars Zachary Levi as Nick Schuyler, Quentin Plair as Marquis Cooper, Terrence Terrell as Corey Smith, Marshall Cook as Will Bleakley, with Josh Duhamel as the Coast Guard Captain and JoBeth Williams as Marcia. Of course this reminds me of The Perfect Storm, but it looks nowhere near as good as that movie. This doesn't look that great at all. // Continue Reading ›

Sitges 2025: Fascinating 'Starman' Documentary on NASA's Gentry Lee
If you're a space geek like me, who loves staring up at the stars 🌟 and wondering what's out there, there's always a lingering set of existential questions that will remain unanswered for a long time: "Are we alone in the universe? If there are trillions of planets where intelligent life could have evolved, then why have we not definitively seen or heard from anyone (yet)?" And what would life be like if you dedicated it entirely to this never-ending search for extraterrestrial life existing somewhere out there? This documentary does answer that question at least. Starman is a biopic doc from filmmaker Robert Stone (of Earth Days, Pandora's Promise). Not to be confused with the 80s sci-fi classic also titled Starman starring Jeff Bridges as an alien – though I'm pretty sure any reference to this movie is on purpose. It's also a reference to the classic David Bowie "Starman" song from 1972. Now we get a documentary version of "Starman" and it is indeed about a star man known as Gentry Lee – who spent his entire life working at NASA attempting to actually answer these questions about life elsewhere in the universe and how to find it – or at least find some evidence of it. // Continue Reading ›

Watch: Todd Vaziri Breaks Down ILM's Excellent Visual Effects Work
"Let's make it as cool as possible." While making it look as realistic as possible! Every few months there is a discussion about visual effects and CGI and how Hollywood loves to hide the truth of how much work goes into each & every movie. The most outspoken advocate reminding people about CGI in movies is the social media maven Todd Vaziri - who also happens to work at the illustrious ILM (Industrial Light & Magic) in San Francisco. He's always commenting on Twitter about how VFX happen, so Vanity Fair put together a video feature him discussing his work at the studio. "ILM's compositing supervisor Todd Vaziri breaks down the methodical approach to the groundbreaking creations that have redefined the limits of our imagination." He spends a few minutes on a handful of movies discussing the shots and his work on these shots, and how ILM created and finished each of these shots. It is one of the most interesting and entirely comprehensive breakdowns that actually shows what really goes into VFX shots these days. Todd has always said the most important aspect to making VFX look legit: shot composition. Which he talks about in depth in the video. // Continue Reading ›

This is pretty much India's Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair (also finally getting released this year). Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, who later went on to make the world-shattering RRR, directed these original two action movies Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017). Now he's re-edited & remastered both of them into one single movie, combining footage from both with technical enhancements and previously unseen scenes. Years later, he returns to uncover the truth about his father's murder & his mother's imprisonment, and will rise to reclaim his place as the rightful king. Baahubali: The Epic stars Prabhas in dual roles, with Rana Daggubati, Anushka, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, and Nassar. I actually went to see this in theaters back in 2015 and it's proper awesome. I bet even players better now as this final version. Sitges 2025: A New Version of 'The Shrinking Man' with Jean Dujardin
"I am the sum of my experiences; the shrinking has merely stripped away certain superficialities." There's a brand new cinematic adaptation of the classic horror story The Incredible Shrinking Man ready for viewing. But not many people have heard about it yet, since it's a European project and it just premiered at the 2025 Sitges Film Festival. This French / Belgian movie is officially titled L'homme qui rétrécit, which translates simply to The Shrinking Man. This fresh, clean new version has opted not to use the additional "incredible" adjective – immortalized by the iconic 1957 sci-fi horror classic The Incredible Shrinking Man film, directed by Jack Arnold, and starring Grant Williams. This adaptation, based on Richard Matheson's original 1956 novel, The Shrinking Man, stars the always watchable Jean Dujardin as Paul, a shipbuilder who begins to slowly get smaller and smaller. It's a peculiar yet fascinating movie that doesn't live up to its potential, but is an intriguing, mostly entertaining watch nonetheless. If anything, it feels like a streaming movie more than a theatrical epic, but there's still a few engaging scenes and Dujardin is fantastic as always. // Continue Reading ›

"This has been shambles after shambles." Vertigo Releasing in the UK has debuted the full official trailer for a film titled Saipan, ready for release in January in the UK. This Irish film made by filmmakers Lisa Barros D'Sa & Glenn Leyburn tells a very Irish story about an epic sports rivalry back in 2002. Not everyone will be so familiar this story over the in US, but the film still looks like a worthwhile watch anyway. On the eve of the 2002 FIFA World Cup, the Irish soccer/football team captain Roy Keane forfeits his place in the squad at the team's base in Saipan, after a heated disagreement with the Irish manager Mick McCarthy. This is the thrilling story of their infamous confrontation and what happened next. The upcoming movie stars Éanna Hardwicke as Roy and Steve Coogan as Mick, with Alice Lowe, Jamie Beamish, Alex Murphy, and Harriet Cains. This looks damn good!
