Watch: Letterboxd's 'Dance 'Til You Drop' 2025 Year in Movies Recap
"Can't we just, for one night, just all be family?" 💃🕺 As the year 2025 comes to an end, it's time to reflect on and look back at all that we've seen on the big screen. Our favorite movie diary website Letterboxd has debuted their own 2025 year in movies recap video - titled "Dance 'Til You Drop" featuring footage from all of 2025's best movies. This is created as a promo for their "wrapped stats" feature on the site, but it's also a cleverly edited recap of the past year in cinema. The theme is dancing - featuring shots of people dancing or feet march or anything else like that. There's plenty of movies this year that are literally about dancing (The Testament of Ann Lee, The Life of Chuck, Sinners, KPop Demon Hunters, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Final Destination Bloodlines, Sirat). But they also found tiny moments of dancing hidden in all kinds of other movies like Happy Gilmore 2, Caught Stealing, It Ends, Die My Love, Megan 2.0, Good Fortune, Bob Trevino Likes It, and plenty others. A very entertaining video recap to wrap up this past year in film. Enjoy. // Continue Reading ›

Looking Back: Best Movies of 2025 Illustrations by James Chapman
"You know what freedom is?" "What?" "No fear." Another year is over, which means it's time to look back at the best films released over the last 12 months. Artist James Chapman, based in Leeds, UK, posted his Top 10 Films of 2025 list on Instagram - by drawing the cutest little illustration for each & every favorite film. I've been an avid follower of Chapman for a few years already (we also posted his illustrations for 2022 and for 2023 and for 2024) and I am a big fan of his artistic style. He draws and colors images in a notepad which represent his style and his favorite aspects of each film vividly recreated. They make me smile every time. Always so adorable, he really loves movies. Many of films are my faves, too (Sentimental Value and OBAA and Sinners and Train Dreams are also in my Top 10). A few of these seen below are also 2024 films that were only released in the UK in 2025 so they made his list this year (mainly Nosferatu & Nickel Boys). This year he posted images for 30 of his favorite films of 2025, but I've featured only his top 10 below. Click on his IG for even more. His mini reviews for each film can be read on Letterboxd. Check his Top 10 below. // Continue Reading ›

Patrick Dempsey is a Hitman with Alzheimer's in 'Memory of a Killer'
"Doesn't he seem a little off lately?" Fox has revealed the full official trailer for a new hitman thriller series title Memory of a Killer, set to launch on TV starting in January 2026. We're featuring this trailer for a TV show because it's yet another new series that's actually based on a movie. Inspired by the 2003 award-winning Belgian film De Zaak Alzheimer (also called The Memory of a Killer), Fox's Memory of a Killer series is a dramatic thriller about a hitman with early onset Alzheimer’s. This stars Patrick Dempsey as Angelo, Michael Imperioli, Odeya Rush, Richard Harmon, Daniel David Stewart, Peter Gadiot, and Gina Torres. Angelo lives a double life as an assassin and a family man – which all worked out well until he was hit with early onset Alzheimer's. Now his worlds are colliding, putting his family in danger. He must stop whoever's coming for his family by searching his past hits for clues, and the list is very long. He'll hunt down his mortal enemy while carrying out hits without giving away his diagnosis and still making it home in time to cook dinner. Memory of a Killer is a redemptive story about a man losing his memory but gaining a conscience. This seems extra mopey and melodramatic, but hopefully it's a bit better than it looks. // Continue Reading ›

Thor Returns Teaser for 'Avengers: Doomsday' with Chris Hemsworth
"Lend me the strength of the All-Fathers so that I may fight once more... Defeat one more enemy... and return home to her." Oh boy, here we go again. The next boring teaser trailer for this MCU everyone-comes-back legacy sequel. Marvel Studios has revealed the second of four new teaser trailers for the Avengers: Doomsday movie, arriving in theaters December 2026. There are individual teasers for many characters - this is for Chris Hemsworth returning as Thor - Asgard's God of Thunder, who has been off doing his own thing in other movies. This new crossover movie will bring EVERY superhero from two decades of Marvel movies together to battle the epic villain Doctor Doom - played by Robert Downey Jr. who also was paid enough to come back again. The massive ensemble cast also features Chris Evans, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, & Pedro Pascal. This one is just as dumb as the Captain America teaser. Up next is the legacy X-Men teaser after this. // Continue Reading ›

Hilarious Trailer for 'Free Bert' Comedy Series Starring Bert Kreischer
"The pig requires a little lipstick..." Ahaha this looks like a ton of fun. Netflix has revealed a funny official trailer for a new comedy series called Free Bert, starring shirtless comedian Bert Kreischer. It's not a stand up comedy special, this is actually a series - starring Bert Kreischer as himself learning that he must find out how to "look sharp" when his daughters get into an elite Beverly Hills private school. Bert moved into acting & movies a few years ago starring in the movie The Machine also about his own story. Now he's continuing with his new self-centered series (ha ha). When his unbridled antics turn his family into pariah, he decides to “put on a shirt” and stifle his true nature to better fit in. The series stars Bert Kreischer, Arden Myrin, Ava Ryan, Lilou Lang, Christine Horn, Chris Witaske, along with Mandell Maughan, Sophia Reid-Gantzert, Robert Jon Mello, Braxton Alexander, Matthew Del Negro. Teaser for Science Saru's 'Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia' Animation
"This is the tale of a witch..." Science Saru in Japan has unveiled the first look teaser for an animated film titled Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia being directed by animation filmmaker Abel Gongora (of Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye and "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off"). One of the next animation projects from the iconic studio Science Saru (Inu-Oh, The Colors Within, Ride Your Wave). This is the story of one witch who toyed with a vast continent. The film is set for a TV debut in Japan in July 2026 - no theaters for this. Set in the 13th century during the reign of Emperor Genghis Khan and his march through the Mongolian Empire - one girl messes with his plans in Iran after becoming educated by scholars. This is the story of Jaadugar, the "witch in Mongolia". When he arrives "her quiet days come to an end, and the wheels of fate begin to turn." The final voice cast has not been announced yet. This animation style reminds me of the very lovely Little Amelie animated film also out this year. Stay tuned for any updates on Jaadugar leading up to its release next year. // Continue Reading ›

First Look at the 'Madden' Movie Starring Nicolas Cage as John Madden
"There's only one John Madden – they didn't make another one!" Amazon MGM Studios has revealed the first teaser trailer for the Madden movie - out to watch at Thanksgiving 2026 a year from now. This teaser initially aired during the NFL games on Christmas Day this week. From director David O. Russell following his last movie Amsterdam (ugh), comes this true story of the one-and-only football maven John Madden. Madden follows the football legend from Super Bowl glory with the Oakland Raiders to revolutionizing the game with the video game Madden NFL. The very first version of the football video game debuted in 1988 (as "John Madden Football") for MS-DOS & Apple II, evolving during the 1990s. Starring Nicolas Cage as John Madden, with Christian Bale as Al Davis, Kathryn Hahn as Virginia Madden, John Mulaney as EA founder Trip Hawkins, Sienna Miller, Shane Gillis, and Joel Murray as Pat Summerall. Tallulah Evans in Kidnapping Thriller Series 'Girl Taken' Official Trailer
"I want to go home..." "This is home!" Paramount+ has unveiled the official trailer for a streaming mini-series titled Girl Taken, a freaky kidnapping thriller and survival story ready to watch starting in January. Another crime story to scare anyone who watches. Based on Hollie Overton's novel "Baby Doll", the series follows Lily & Abby, twin sisters living in a rural English village. Their peaceful lives are shattered when Lily is abducted by Rick Hansen, a respected local teacher who is well-liked in the community. Years later, Lily manages to escape. But reclaiming her freedom proves to be more complicated than she imagined: the world she once idealized has moved on without her. As Abby, Lily, and their mum Eve strive to rebuild their lives, the scars of the past resurface, especially since Rick remains at large, willing to twist the truth to serve his own narrative. Raw & emotionally charged, this is a gripping exploration of trauma, resilience, sisterhood, and the high cost of reclaiming one’s life. The 7-part series stars Alfie Allen and Jill Halfpenny as Rick and Eve, with sisters Tallulah Evans & Delphi Evans as Lily and Abby. Looks very creepy & disquieting. // Continue Reading ›

Watch: Patrick & Kyle's 25 Best Films of 2025 - Full Video Countdown
"Can we go again? I'd like another one..." Time for another recap of this last year in cinema. While we wait for David Ehrlich's annual countdown video (arriving in early January) here's another one looking back at the best of the year. This video countdown is put together by movie lovers Kyle Wilson and Patrick Ryan - featuring their combined picks for the 25 Best Films of 2025. Time to find out what won them over in 2025! (Watch their 2024 video here.) This also includes a very entertaining montage - an intro packed with other films that didn't make the cut and an impressive soundtrack of songs for their look back at the year in film. I'm very happy to see a number of more unique picks in their Top 25 - including Mickey 17, Roofman, Friendship (hilarious film), Eephus (still so good), Black Bag, Blue Moon, and even the very funny legacy sequel The Naked Gun. Also interetsing to note - they used this Hamnet shot for the title card in the video, yet surprisingly Hamnet is nowhere to be found within this Top 25 at all. So be it. Enjoy This Star Wars Mini Recreation - Gingerbread Trench Run Scene
"It's a fun little puzzle to find: what's the essence of this? Why is this scene I saw when I was 6 years old work for me now?" Lucasfilm & ILM have released the first fun Star Wars Mini video - a recreation of the classic Death Star Trench Run in George Lucas' classic Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope but remade entirely with gingerbread. A festive (and tasty) holiday remix of this all-timer action scene! "Luke Skywalker faces his greatest challenge yet: defeating cookie Darth Vader and the Gingerbread empire." Ha ha. This new Star Wars Mini video series is just a playful way to bring new life and rethink these fan-favorite moments from all of the Star Wars movies. In the third promo video below, they also hint at a crochet recreation of Empire Strikes Back along with other scenes like Anakin podracing, Grogu waddling around & more. They explain the idea for the Minis simply as: "Artists at ILM use new technology to transform movie scenes and reimagine them in unique styles." Interview: 'Rental Family' Director Hikari on Crafting an Uplifting Film
"Sometimes the story we tell ourselves becomes the truth." One of the year's most heartwarming, uplifting films is Rental Family, inspired by the stories of real rental agencies in Tokyo, Japan. Academy Award-winner Brendan Fraser stars as an American actor living in Tokyo who decides to take on a job working for a people rental agency - they hire people to play fathers, mothers, sons, friends, husbands, whatever is necessary for someone who needs to "rent" a person. Rental Family is directed by the Japanese-American filmmaker known as Hikari (real name Mitsuyo Miyazaki) as her second feature film following 37 Seconds, along with her work directing the series "Beef" for A24 & Netflix. I'm honored that I had a chance to spend a few minutes chatting with Hikari – I really wanted to ask her thoughts about her uplifting intentions with the film, the reactions to it, as well as her hopes that it might influence Japanese society (and anyone else) to work on being a bit better. Dumb First Teaser for Marvel's 'Avengers: Doomsday' with Chris Evans
"Steve Rogers Will Return in Avengers: Doomsday." Come on. Does anyone care? Why are they retconning their own movie from 6 years ago? Marvel Studios has revealed the first of four new teaser trailers for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, arriving in theaters December 2026 a year from now. There are four teasers for different characters - this is for Chris Evans returning as Captain America / Steve Rogers, even tough he hung up the shield & retired at the end of Avengers: Endgame in 2019. They even continued without him letting Sam Wilson become the new Cap in Captain America: Brave New World. This new crossover movie will bring EVERY superhero from two decades of Marvel movies together to battle the epic villain Doctor Doom - played by Robert Downey Jr. who also was paid enough to come back again. How Did They Miss This? 'The Testament of Ann Lee' Deserves Better
So it's that time of year again. The moment when awards season kicks into high gear and the entire internet collectively loses its mind over how or why some random critics group forgot to nominate their favorite movie or chose this person over that person or left this person out or didn't vote for this film instead of that other one. The wailing usually reaches a fever pitch when the Oscars, the undisputed ruler of the season, finally enters the chat. I'm usually pretty zen about the whole thing. It's impossible to honor every film, voters are only human, and let's be honest, the "best" movies often lose to those with the deepest pockets and/or smartest marketing campaigns. But this year, I caught the awards season flu. I was genuinely floored when I saw the Oscar shortlists and found a grand total of zero mentions for The Testament of Ann Lee. And just like that, the beast inside me woke up, screaming out: "How could they possibly miss this film!?" // Continue Reading ›

Our 10 Favorite Movie Posters from 2025 - Dreams of a Good Ballad
With the year winding down, it's time to look back and highlight some favorites from the world of movies. The past few years I've published collections of the best poster designs, highlighting tons of excellent work (from real humans not AI!) that deserves extra attention. Below is my personal set of 10 Favorite Movie Posters from 2025. These aren't necessarily the "best" rather they're my own favorites that stuck with me – though I'd say many of them are the best posters anyway. The only qualification is they must be official posters released by the distributor, not fan art or other posters created unofficially. My taste in poster art continues to be: colorful, unique, minimalistic, bold design choices that accent the themes and plot elements of the film they're made for. I despise posters that are literally just a still frame from the film turned into a one-sheet (they always look so lazy - like this). These 10 posters below stuck with me as the most appealing, striking, inventive designs that really make me want to watch every one of the films. Check them out below. // Continue Reading ›

Chilling New 'Silence' Featurette with Troy Kotsur for 'Primate' Horror
"This time, you can all enter my world..." 🙈 Paramount Pictures has debuted another promo featurette for the horror movie titled Primate, the latest from 47 Meters Down director Johannes Roberts, opening in January. (We also posted another featurette last week.) This one focuses on Deaf actor Troy Kotsur who plays the father in the movie – he's one of my favorite actors. Home from college, Lucy reunites with family including pet chimp Ben. Ben contracts rabies during a pool party and turns aggressive going after them. Lucy and friends barricade in the pool, trying to survive the vicious chimp. Starring Johnny Sequoyah, Jessica Alexander, and Troy Kotsur, along with Victoria Wyant, Gia Hunter, Benjamin Cheng, Charlie Mann, and Tienne Simon. One of the best scenes in the entire movie involves Kotsur returning home to check on his kids - and it turns silent because he can't hear the chimp crashing around and creeping up on him. Especially unsettling and very chilling. Very cool they made this video to tease this scene - enjoy. // Continue Reading ›

Washington, Gibson, Jai White in Vengeance Film 'Oscar Shaw' Trailer
"He's running out of places to hide..." "It's about being on the winning team." Goldwyn Films has revealed an official trailer for another trashy action thriller movie called Oscar Shaw, being dumped on VOD for release in early January. Yet another of these poorly shot, extremely underlit, entirely generic action movies they still keep making more of. A retired detective seeks revenge for his best friend's death, taking justice into his own hands after failing to achieve it during his police career. Starring Michael Jai White as Oscar Shaw, with Tyrese Gibson & Isaiah Washington, plus Rich Paul & Cecile Cubiló. Final Trailers for 'Iron Lung' Post-Apocalyptic Submarine Indie Thriller
"You did test this thing, right?" "This IS the test." Markiplier is opening his indie sci-fi film creation soon called Iron Lung, inspired by the cult favorite indie video game of the same name. Iron Lung is one of the first feature films made by the YouTube personality "Markiplier", also known as Mark Fischbach, an indie creator known for his YouTube videos covering almost everything. This one is a strange sci-fi concept about a guy in a submarine exploring an "ocean of blood" in order to save humanity. In a post-apocalyptic future set after "The Quiet Rapture" event, a convict explores a blood ocean found on a desolate moon using a mini submarine called the "Iron Lung" to search for missing stars & planets. Iron Lung stars Mark Fischbach as the main convict, with Caroline Rose Kaplan, Seán McLoughlin, David Szymanski, Troy Baker, Elsie Lovelock, Isaac McKee. The original "iron lung" was a medical machine invented in the 1800s to help with breathing; this concept was then used to create an early underwater diving suit invented by Phillip Drinker & Louis Shaw in 1928. This sci-fi film is getting an actual small theatrical release starting January 2026 after being in development for years. First Teaser for Spin-Off 'Young Sherlock' Starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin
"Astounding. You should be a detective." Ha ha. Prime Video has unveiled the first teaser trailer for a new Young Sherlock series streaming next March, another new Sherlock Holmes series coming up. This one is actually a spin-off from the Guy Ritchie movies (Sherlock Holmes in 2009, A Game of Shadows in 2011), described as an "explosive re-imagining of the iconic character's early days." From Guy Ritchie, witness the legendary beginning of Sherlock Holmes life in solving crimes in this "irreverent, action-laden mystery that follows the detective's early adventures." Sherlock Holmes is a disgraced young man – raw and unfiltered– when he finds himself wrapped up in a murder case that threatens his liberty. His first ever case unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy, culminating in an explosive showdown that changes his life forever. Unfolding in 1870s Oxford and adventuring abroad, the series will expose the early antics of the anarchic adolescent who is yet to evolve into Baker Street's most renowned resident. Featuring Hero Fiennes Tiffin as Sherlock, with Dónal Finn as James Moriarty, Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Max Irons, and Colin Firth as Bucephalus Hodge. Not sure why Holmes needs an origin story like this, hope it's good. // Continue Reading ›

Juliette Lewis in Kooky Body Swap Indie Comedy 'By Design' Trailer
"Have you heard of this movie where Juliette Lewis plays a chair?" "Yes, of course, but remind me about the chair part?" Music Box has debuted their trailer for a kooky indie comedy called By Design, created and directed by filmmaker Amanda Kramer. This premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival a year ago and will be out to watch in February just in time for Valentine's Day. One of the strangest films you'll ever see. A woman swaps bodies with a chair, and everyone likes her better as a chair. It's an indie comedy but it's not really just a simple body swap comedy – it's also some especially weird commentary on loneliness & romance. Narrated by Melanie Griffith, this modern fable celebrates the messiness of female interiority with deadpan humor, surrealist flourishes, and interpretative dance numbers. An "absurdist spin" on the body-swap comedy. Starring Juliette Lewis, Mamoudou Athie (love him), Samantha Mathis, Robin Tunney, Alisa Torres, Clifton Collins Jr., Keir Gilchrist, with Udo Kier (RIP) and Betty Buckley. Very interesting 4th-wall-breaking trailer. This one is definitely only for the most adventurous cinephiles... // Continue Reading ›

Full Trailer for 'Moses the Black' Chicago Gangster Film with Omar Epps
"You found me off my square. Do what you need to do." Simeon has revealed the full official trailer for the film Moses the Black, a Chicago story about gangs in the city. It's set for a theatrical release at the end of January coming up next month. The story of a gangster in modern day Chicago inspired by an incredible story of repentance of the 4th century saint of the same name. A gripping fusion of suspense, moral courage, and modern relevance. Moses the Black follows one gangster's journey of reckoning. Omar Epps stars as Chicago gang leader Malik, with Wiz Khalifa as 2wo-3ree, confident & volatile head of Malik's young crew, locked in a power struggle for control against rival gang leader Straw, played by Quavo. The role of St. Moses the Black is played by Chukwudi Iwuji. The cast includes Corey Hendrix, Cliff Chamberlain, Ahmad Ferguson, Sambou "Bubba" Camara, Kierra Bunch, Skilla Baby, and Deontay Wilder. Presented by Simeon Faith, NM Cinematic Fund, & Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. This full trailer is filled with excessive violence but it seems the point is that this isn't going to lead to anything good if it all keeps going. // Continue Reading ›

Review: Cameron's 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' - An Intense Pandora Sequel
"You said you could protect this family." "I was wrong!" There's only one way forward for the Na'vi – it's time to fight! I have been waiting for his epic battle for the last 16 years. And now we finally get to see them confront the RDA head on and bring the fight to them. It's the end of this story, the end of this saga with the Sully family (as far as we know), but not the end of our time on Pandora. However, that's a conversation for another day... (Will they still make Avatar 4 & 5 one day? Who knows?) Now it's time to dive into Avatar: Fire and Ash – the third epic Avatar movie created by sci-fi director mastermind James Cameron. As we all know, it's all he has been working on the last 20 years. Avatar 3 is actually, really the sequel to the first Avatar it's just the 3rd movie because during production they decided to extended the story with the Sully family and add the second movie inbetween. Knowing that, following this trilogy from start to finish, this is the better of the sequels. It is another powerfully emotional, visually astonishing thrill-ride around Pandora – introducing one mean new villain in the form of Na'vi warrior woman Varang and her Ash Clan. // Continue Reading ›

Jason Biggs Stars in 'Untitled Home Invasion Romance' Comedy Trailer
"You killed one guy! Just, you know, don't make habit of it." "I never meant for anyone to get hurt!" Uh uh, of course, but here we are anyway, Biggs. Paramount Movies / Republic Pictures has unveiled an official trailer for a kooky murder dark comedy thriller called Untitled Home Invasion Romance, starring and directed by Jason Biggs (as the first thing he's ever directed). This premiered at a few festivals and hits VOD directly in January - it just doesn't look good enough for theaters. Just view the trailer. As a last-ditch attempt to save his failing marriage, an actor stages a home invasion during a romantic getaway weekend. Unfortunately his wife ends up killing the friend he sent to do the home invasion and now the cops are onto him. What next? Will he actually save his marriage? Formerly titled Getaway, this film stars Jason Biggs, Meaghan Rath, Anna Konkle, Justin H. Min, & Arturo Castro. An interesting concept but not really that clever as we've seen so many plots like this before and it doesn't seem to do anything new or different. // Continue Reading ›

Fun Mystery Comedy 'The Sheep Detectives' Trailer with Hugh Jackman
"Who killed George? What are they hiding?" Amazon MGM Studios has revealed the official trailer for the movie The Sheep Detectives, a whodunit mystery comedy about sheep - arriving in theaters May 2026 next summer. The title was originally Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie, but they switched to the much simpler The Sheep Detectives instead. It's a herder mystery, and everyone is a suspect. Every night a shepherd reads aloud a murder mystery or detective novel, pretending his sheep can understand anything. When he is found dead, the sheep realize at once that it was a murder and think they know everything about how to go about solving it. Proving that even sheep can be brilliant crime-solvers. Starring Hugh Jackman as the shepherd George, joined by Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau, Emma Thompson, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O'Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, and Rhys Darby. I quite like this concept! It's cute and fun and clever. It looks good - a fun spin on the whodunit movie trend with an impressive cast. VFX are solid so far. Check this out. // Continue Reading ›

Filmmaking Behind-the-Scenes with James Cameron Making 'Avatar 3'
"My team & I've had 25 years of experience doing this. We know the technology, we know the guidelines, we know what makes beautiful 3D." It's finally time. 20th Century has revealed a handful of new behind-the-scenes featurettes for James Cameron's next amazing Pandora sequel titled Avatar: Fire and Ash. This third Avatar movie is a follow-up to the release of Avatar 2: The Way of Water in late 2022 - arriving 3 years later. It's opening this week so they're going all out with promos. The story continues following Jake & Neytiri's family while they keep growing, with more troubles as the brutal RDA comes after them directly. They also encounter a dangerous Ash Clan of flying Na'vi - who end up partnering with Quaritch against the other Na'vi tribes. James Cameron's Fire & Ash stars Sam Worthington as Jake, Zoe Saldana as Neytiri, Sigourney Weaver as Kiri, Stephen Lang as Quaritch, Britain Dalton as Lo'ak, Jack Champion as "Spider", Bailey Bass as Reya, Trinity Bliss as Tuk, Kate Winslet as Ronal, Filip Geljo, Edie Falco, Cliff Curtis, David Thewlis, Keston John, Joel David Moore, Jemaine Clement, featuring Oona Chaplin as Varang. Epic Trailer #2 for 'Greenland 2: Migration' Apocalyptic Survival Sequel
"I don't know what awaits you at the crater, but I am convinced – it is where the world... will be reborn." Lionsgate has launched a second trailer for Greenland 2: Migration, the disaster movie sci-fi sequel that is now an epic post-apocalyptic survival thriller movie. Hitting theaters January 2026 not long from now - the original Greenland also opened during January in 2020 a few years ago. At the end of that first movie (spoilers!), this family barely makes it inside of the bunker in Greenland and then the comet strikes Earth and destroys everything. In this continuation of the story, the Garrity family, who survived a near-extinction level event when an interstellar comet hits Earth, must leave the safety of their Greenland bunker (after 5 years) and embark upon a perilous journey across the decimated frozen wasteland of Europe to create a new home - somewhere in France where the comet's main crater is. This sequel stars Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, Roger Dale Floyd, Roman Griffin Davis, Amber Rose Revah, Trond Fausa Aurvåg. I'm pumped for this! It's crazy they made a sequel that is literally a post-apocalyptic post-comet destructive world and they have to navigate through it towards the crater. Is it scientifically accurate? I'll be watching. // Continue Reading ›

Melanie Lynskey & Robyn Malcolm Want Justice in 'Pike River' Trailer
"I would've given up a long time ago if it hadn't been for you." Brainstorm Media has released an official US trailer for an indie drama from New Zealand titled Pike River, the true story of two women fighting for justice in their town. This premiered at the 2025 Sydney Film Festival earlier this year. In the aftermath of an explosion that rocked the Pike River Mine and killed 29, two women step up to fight for accountability. Melanie Lynskey stars in this David and Goliath drama based on actual events following the 2010 Pike River Mine disaster that took the lives of many men working underground. A touchpoint in global culture at the time, two women—one who lost her son, the other her husband—would make it their mission to bring a negligent corporation to account, no matter the odds stacked against them. Co-starring Robyn Malcolm and Lucy Lawless, the women would fight for years—through life's changes and challenges—to have their voices heard, culminating in a pivotal political moment for New Zealand as Jacinda Ardern found herself poised to soon become Prime Minister. Watch: Mind-Bending Animated Short 'No Vacancy' by Miguel Rodrick
"Middle of the road, rundown motel this is. I used to do better. Be better. Topping it off with incense and Tibetan singing bowls." Another mesmerizing, trippy new animated short film to dive into and try to make sense of now that it's online to watch. No Vacancy is a 12-minute animated short film made by Colombian animation filmmaker Miguel Rodrick has been based in the US since 2012. The film won the Best Latino Animated Short Film at LALIFF which means it's out now as an Oscar-qualifying short film. A man working at a motel drifts in search of a release from a past that lingers in every room. It's a very psychedelic, mind-bending story of guilt and remorse and how to deal with his heaviness. This intro from Short of the Week sums up how powerful the film is: "In No Vacancy, he created a short that captures that state with startling honesty. A that film immerses you in the raw, unfiltered way a mind moves when it's left to its own devices." This is more than just trippy vibes and vivid colors, there's a real potent sense of melancholy found within. // Continue Reading ›

Emilia Clarke & Haley Lu Richardson in 'PONIES' 70s Spy Series Trailer
"This job demands sacrifice - most people are not cut out for it" Peacock has revealed an official trailer for a new spy thriller-comedy series, inspired by a true story, called PONIES - out to watch in January 2026. Debuting one month from now. PONIES atually stands for "persons of no interest" in intelligence services lingo. Set in 1977, two secretaries working at the American embassy in Moscow become CIA operatives after their husbands die under mysterious circumstances. Emilia Clarke is an over-educated, Russian-speaking child of Soviet immigrants. Her cohort is Twila, played by Haley Lu Richardson, is a small-town girl who is as abrasive as she is fearless. Together, the two ladies work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows in the first place. The 8-part espionage thriller series also stars Adrian Lester, Artjom Gilz, Nicholas Podany, Petro Ninovskyi, and Vic Michaelis. Even though it takes place in Moscow, it was filmed in Budapest, Hungary earlier this year. I dig the levity in it. And these two women have off-the-charts chemistry that makes this series seem especially entertaining. Worth a look. // Continue Reading ›

Official Trailer for Cheesy 'Grizzly Night' Animal Horror About a Bear
"We can't risk any more lives!" "Same every year..." Saban Films has unveiled an official trailer for an indie horror movie creature feature called Grizzly Night, which is I guess a play on the other word "grisly" since the result is a very grisly night of angry bear injuries. Unfortunately this doesn't look as fun as Cocaine Bear. Instead, it joins the trend of really bad, instantly forgettable animal horror movies (with the upcoming Primate being the exception). On August 12th, 1967, in Montana's Glacier National Park, the unthinkable happened: On the same night, nine miles apart, there were not one-but two-fatal grizzly bear attacks. This is the story of what happened. Starring Charles Esten, Oded Fehr, Lauren Call, Joel Johnstone, Josh Zuckerman, Matt Lintz, Ali Skovbye, Sophia Gray, with Brec Bassinger and Jack Griffo. Alas this looks pretty bad. The only grizzly movie I recommend is still Herzog's classic doc Grizzly Man - not this one. // Continue Reading ›

Dumb Official Trailer for 'Killer Whale' Orca Whale Survival Horror Film
"She thinks she's still trapped in captivity!" 🐳 Lionsgate has debuted an official trailer for a very dumb new horror movie called Killer Whale, an Orca spin on the usual shark movie with all the same tropes. Step aside Free Willy, this one ain't your friendly killer whale! The story follows best friends Maddie and Trish as they find themselves trapped in a remote lagoon with the dangerous killer whale named Ceto. Their peaceful retreat soon becomes a terrifying fight to stay alive when the ocean's most bloodthirsty predator seeks vengeance for a brutal life in captivity. Get 'em, Ceto! Killer Whale stars Virginia Gardner, Mel Jarnson, and Mitchell Hope. It's a lot like these shark movies such as The Shallows, The Reef, or Open Water, but with a few of its own twists. While I don't enjoy seeing the beautiful Orcas be turned into villains, I'll let it slide for one horror movie. Alas it looks awful – even the CGI seems worse than most shark movies. First Look Teaser for Dual 'De Gaulle' Movies Starring Simon Abkarian
"When our hearts go boom, the whole world goes boom, and stirs up rage." France's Path revealed an epic teaser for a dual set of movies about the iconic French president Charles de Gaulle. Yes – the same man that the Paris airport is named after. French filmmaker Antonin Baudry directs two back-to-back movies called De Gaulle: Tilting Iron & De Gaulle: The Sovereign Edge which will arrive in French theaters next summer - in June & July. Literally back-to-back, which is the proper way to do it when you have two movies like this (instead of waiting or year or two inbetween them). Bob Odenkirk is a Regular Guy Who Will Fight Back in 'Normal' Trailer
"Why are they shooting at you?!" Good question! Magnolia Pictures has unveiled the first teaser trailer for the action thriller movie Normal, about a normal guy who fights back against a corrupt town. From great genre director Ben Wheatley (who last made Meg 2: The Trench) comes this new thriller in the same vein as John Wick and Nobody before it - and it also happens to be written by the same guy who created those two franchises. Bob Odenkirk stars as Sheriff Ulysses who takes over a post in a quaint small town. But when a botched bank robbery interrupts the municipality's tranquil pace, a sordid secret is inadvertently exposed and Ulysses learns that the town is anything but its namesake... Suddenly everyone is trying to shoot the sheriff, even his own deputies, and our put-upon policeman must rely on his affable mettle and some motley crooks if he is to survive the night. The film also stars Lena Heady, Henry Winkler, Ryan Allen, Billy MacLellan, Brendan Fletcher, Reena Jolly, Peter Shinkoda, Jess McLeod, and many others. This looks like an even meaner Fargo meets Nobody! Which should be wild fun - this is a terrific first look teaser. // Continue Reading ›

New Zealand Nuns on a Road Trip Comedy 'Holy Days' Official Trailer
"You've got a family... A family that's waiting for you." Rialto Distribution has revealed an official trailer for a charming New Zealand comedy film called Holy Days, about nuns who go on a road trip. This already premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival a few months ago and will be out in New Zealand cinemas in February - though we still have no idea when it will arrive in the US to watch. A lost boy in search of heaven, three odd nuns on a mission, a car powered by God (and stolen money). This is a road trip like no other. A comedic near-tragedy that just keeps going South. Holy Days follows young Brian on a heartwarming quest to retrieve his late mother from heaven. With only the clue that his mother is on a snowy mountain, Brian teams up with 3 elderly nuns; Sisters Agnes (Judy Davis), Mary Clare (Jacki Weaver), & Luke (Miriam Margolyes). So Perfect Together: Alexander Skarsgard + Stellan Skarsgard Convo
"My dream was for my family to be normal and fit in." These two! Love them! Variety has debuted one of the best "Actors on Actors" conversations they've ever recorded for this year's awards season. It features father & son actors Alexander Skarsgård & Stellan Skarsgård discussing their films, their acting work, their family and so much more. Stellan Skarsgård is a beloved Swedish actor who has 8 kids in total - one of them is Alexander Skarsgård, along with his brothers Bill Skarsgård & Gustaf Skarsgård who are also actors. What I adore about this conversation is that it's playful and honest and open - but also still fun and amusing and obviously jokey. When you put two actors in a room together, they're going to riff, and some of this is not to be taken seriously. That said, I appreciate how deep they get chatting about acting. Variety has been making these "Actors on Actors" videos for years and years they're always good to watch, but this one gets a special mention. I think they captured a genuine spark between them that makes it seriously special - enjoy. // Continue Reading ›

After playing across many film festivals the last year, American filmmaker / model / actress / artist Lauren Tsai's short film The Dying World is now available to watch on YT. When she finds a door to her childhood bedroom, she feeds what’s left of it to her only friend, Crow, who wonders how much longer she can live in these fragmented realities." First Trailer for Exciting New 'Star Wars: Galactic Racer' Video Game
"The Galaxy needs racing!" Check out this first look trailer for Star Wars: Galactic Racer arriving to play in 2026. Sometimes we break our own rules and post a trailer for a video game - this one also comes from The Game Awards. When I was growing up, I was a huge fan of the N64 game Star Wars Episode I: Racer, featuring pod racing from Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (both released the same year in 1999). So I will admit that I am kinda excited to see that 27 years later they're bringing back racing to the Star Wars universe with this brand new game arriving next year. Galactic Racer is a runs-based, high-stakes reinvention of racing born in the lawless Outer Rim of the Star Wars galaxy. The campaign is set in the New Republic Era and takes place on the desert planet Jakku as seen in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens. With the Empire gone and the galaxy rebuilding, The Galactic League is formed: an underground, unsanctioned circuit where syndicates bankroll chaos and champions are forged. This looks like it's going to be plenty of fun to play - maybe there will even be a podrace in it somewhere as hinted at with the final shot. // Continue Reading ›

Golshifteh Farahani & Tahar Rahim in Ducournau's 'Alpha' New Trailer
Finally opening in limited theaters next March. Neon has finally revealed their own official US trailer for the film Alpha, the third feature film directed by French filmmaker Julia Ducournau after making Raw and Titane. It premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival but ended up with mostly bad reviews – Neon pushed it back to March next year since it's not a major release anymore. Something seemingly innocuous sends a teenager's world into turmoil. Filmed in the Northern France city of Le Havre, Alpha is a troubled teenager who lives alone with her mother. Their world comes crashing down the day she comes home from school with a tattoo on her arm, leading her Maman to believe she has contracted a new disease going around. The film is based on Ducournau's upbringing during the AIDS/HIV crisis in the 1980s. Starring Mélissa Boros as the young Alpha, Tahar Rahim as Amin, Alpha's junkie uncle, Golshifteh Farahani as her mother, Emma Mackey, Finnegan Oldfield, Louai El Amrousy, and others.
