
Despite middle order collapsed, captain Smith and Coulter-Nile not only stand like a rock before West Indian bowling they with a classical show of batting put Australia on top by setting up a 289-run target at Nottingham on Thursday.
Australia lost four wickets at 36 and West Indians bowlers on top the movement and Australia received another shock when Stoinis returned to the pavilion when the score was only 79.
However, the star of the Australian batting Coulter-Nile along with captain Smith put a team in a good position. They both added 102 runs for the sixth wicket partnership.
Coulter-Nile made 92 only on 60 balls with the help of eight fours and four sixes while captain Smith led the team from the front and posted 73 solid runs.
Brathwaite took three while O Thomas, Cotterill and Russell each grabbed two wickets.
