The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought details of the ban on international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) from Interior Ministry on Thursday as the deadline given to international NGOs for winding up operation will be ended tomorrow.
The case against the ban on NGOs heard by the judge of IHC justice Amir Farooq while deputy attorney general Raja Khalid Mehmood also appeared before the court.
Judge asked, “Who issued the order banning NGOs, what are reasons, and had government objection on their funding or operation?”In its reply deputy attorney general told the court that interior ministry had ordered the banning of NGOs and they have only a day to shut their operation.
The court directed the prosecutor to submit para-wise comments today.
Court also ordered interior officials to appear before the court tomorrow in person and also sought details of the ban on NGOs from the deputy attorney general.
Later hearing adjourned till tomorrow, Friday.
