"Life is a game. So fight for survival... and find out if you're worth it." Lionsgate and Iconic Events have revealed a brand new trailer to celebrate the 25th Anniversary re-release of Japanese cult classic action horror movie Battle Royale. Everyone who loves genre cinema knows about and has seen Battle Royale at some point since it first hit theaters in 2000 (though it never really hit US theaters only at film festivals back then). It's finally playing again in US theaters this fall - screening for just a few nights on the big screen in October. Battle Royale is an intense and brutal story about Japanese high school students who are sent off by their government with three days to kill each other — until only one remains. With its blend of social commentary and high-stakes action, Battle Royale continues to influence modern dystopian storytelling & has inspired countless television shows, video games, and films. In addition to the movie itself (as a crisp 4K restoration), screenings will include a bonus interview with Battle Royale screenwriter Kenta Fukasaku, who looks back at his father's career and the inspirations that paved the way for his final film. The theatrical cut will be presented with a new 4K restoration in Japanese with English subtitles. Starring Beat Takeshi along with tons of students. One survivor. No rules. Join in and catch this film on the big screen coming up. // Continue Reading ›
