All three accused appeared before the court in the reference today, while Accountability Judge Muhammad Bashir adjourned the hearing until March 27 due to strike of the lawyers.
It may be noted that lawyers are observing strike on the call of Pakistan Bar Council against judicial policy.
On last hearing of the case, the statement of prosecution’s witness Salman Saeed, an official of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) was recorded.
A reference was filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Ishaq Dar following the Supreme Court’s July 28 verdict in the Panama Papers case.
Dar left the country in November 2017 on the pretext of seeking medical treatment in London and has not returned ever since.
Ishaq Dar had earlier been declared a proclaimed offender by the accountability court due to his continuous absence from the proceedings.
On January 8, the Supreme Court expressed displeasure at the government for failing to bring Dar back to Pakistan.
Then chief justice Mian Saqib Nisar had said NAB was unable to bring Dar back. “For how long will he stay in Britain?” he had asked.
