On Tuesday, Khan performed Umrah and prayed for Pakistan's prosperity. The doors to Kaaba, Islam's holiest shrine at Mecca's Grand Mosque were opened for the Pakistan premier, who offered nawafil at the sacred place.
The prime minister, accompanied by Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, and Fawad Chaudhry, also paid a visit to Roza-e-Rasool (Peace Be upon Him) — the final resting place of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) — in Madina and offered Maghrib prayers there.
bdul Razak Dawood, the advisor to prime minister on commerce, textile, industry, and production, is also part of the delegation to the kingdom, where speculation has followed Khan that his trip may be to seek economic assistance from the oil-rich ally.
The two-day trip began exactly one month after Khan assumed office, with Pakistan possibly seeking billions of dollars in assistance from allies as it seeks to avert a balance-of-payments crisis.
