"There's a fine line between love and hate. A very fine line." Dark Star Pictures has unveiled the official US trailer for the French crime comedy film called Plastic Guns, which originally premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival last year in the Directors' Fortnight sidebar there. It's finally getting released in the US this year, after already opening in French cinemas more than a year ago. Inspired by two controversial cases in French criminal history, this searing tragi-comedy exposes the abuses the police can commit in their pursuit of notorious criminals. A Frenchman traveling in Denmark is arrested, accused of being a multiple murderer on the run named Paul Bernardin. Although he maintains his innocence, two rookie detectives are convinced that he's guilty. Meanwhile, in Argentina, another Frenchman celebrates his wedding; he is the same age and has a very mysterious past. The film stars Delphine Baril, Charlotte Laemmel, Laurent Stocker, Gaëtan Peau, and Anthony Paliotti. One review states: "Plastic Guns is one of those movies that require complicity, giving into delirium and not asking for too much coherence, plausibility, or depth." Ha...
