"What has happened to our mother? Why on earth would sh choose him?" Vertical has revealed an official trailer for My Mother's Wedding, a "heartfelt and funny" film marking the directorial debut of actress Kristin Scott Thomas. This first premiered back in 2023 at the Toronto Film Festival under the original title North Star, but has been stuck in release limbo ever since (currently with a rough 28% on RT - which might be why). Three sisters return to their home for the third wedding of their twice-widowed mother. But the mother and daughters are forced to revisit the past and confront the future, with help from a colorful group of unexpected wedding guests. This stars Scarlett Johansson, Sienna Miller, and Emily Beecham as the three sisters Katherine, Victoria, and Georgina; along with Freida Pinto, and Kristin Scott Thomas as the mother Diana. TIFF adds that KST "uses her own family history as a jumping-off point" for this story, featuring "richly drawn lives for each of its characters, and beautifully animated flashback sequences that pull you into the grief they're trying to leave behind." I'm not sure this fairly bland My Mother's Wedding is a better title than North Star, but I'm not sure a new title will get the film better reviews either. Take a look. // Continue Reading ›
